1  Welcome / About You! / Hi on: September 15, 2006, 09:09:28 PM
I'm not really new here.
But I did want to pop in and say hello. I've seen a few familiar names since I was last here, which was about 2 years ago.

I guess that means I shouldn't be reading those Beverly Lewis books that I've come to enjoy so much.
*sigh*

Thomas, I will be praying for you.

Thank you bep and jive.

We've ran into a problem with my insurance company. They are saying that it is a pre-existing illness and they are not willing to cover it. If they don't cover it, then I can't afford to go in for the tests. If they do cover it, then I still can't have anything done for 45 days.

I got my insurance through work around Feb or Mar. These problems started about 3 weeks ago. According to my calendar, 3 weeks ago was August, not March!  Roll Eyes

Arnie's speach was exicting  kewl and all that good stuff. BUT He is a wolf in sheeps clothing he is a baby killer.

Yes, Arnie is a fiscal conservative and a social moderate.

He is so liberal that it makes me wonder how he ever was able to run with the Rep. party.

That could be why he and Maria get along so well and her family is so accepting of him.
7  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Vertigo - upcoming CAT scan and MRI on: August 25, 2004, 03:56:29 PM
I've had a lot of health problems over the week and a half.
Started off with miscarrying an eptopic pregnancy.

Today I wound up in the drs. office again.
She tends to be very thorough.
I've been very tired and extremely dizzy.
After asking me some questions about my family health history, she told me that I have veritigo (spelling?) and recommended an MRI and a CAT scan.

I'm 39.
I'm an adoptee.
I've been reunited with my birth mom's side of the family.
Her mom died at the age of 55 of cancer.
Her dad died at the age of 60 of a heart attack.
She died at the age of 56 of a brain tumor.
Her other 8 siblings are between the ages of 50-70 and are in good health.
I have one half sister who is 35 and in good health.
All of the cousins range in age from 25-45 and are in good health.

The odds aren't exactly in my favor, but they aren't exactly stacked against me either.
Still I am so afraid of what the dr. might find that I can hardly think of anything else.

Uhh..... You leave an 11-year old home alone?  Lips Sealed

Yup, she was alone from 1-3:30 every afternoon.
Now that she's in school, we don't have that problem. She's just alone from 3:15-3:30.

Thanks for the support and advice.

Thanx Kristi-

We've gone over those things time and time again, but it is always good to have a reminder.

BTW- if you see this thread on BaptistBoard- don't worry, you're not seeing double.  Wink
I'm a member there also.
I'm not a Baptist, but they let me post there anyway.
11  Fellowship / Parenting / Internet rules for your family? on: August 18, 2004, 08:17:27 PM
Just curious as to what type of rules other families have regarding the internet.
Are there different rules for parents and children?
My 11 yo daughter is the only child at home right now and she thinks we are not fair to her with the rules for the internet.

Our rules are that we can be online anytime that it won't interfere with God, church, family, real life friends, work/school, chores, etc. We have access to all e-mails, instant messages, etc. that anyone gets.

She can be online one hour a day as long as it doesn't interfere with any of the above and one parent is home.
She was told that when school started she would still have those same rights as long as she keeps the same priorities that we have outlined.
We go over the rules and the dangers of the internet and why her mom or dad must be here at least once a week.

The other day she went online when her dad and I weren't home.
Her dad called her and the internet answering machine came on.
He thought I was home, so he just called me on my cell. I was at work.
He called home again and she said that she just forgot to turn the internet off when I left.
He called me back and I told him that wasn't true because I shut down the internet and rebooted the computer before I left for work.
He checked the history log and found that she had been at her favorite Christian teen chat room for about 2 hours and that she had done that many times when neither of us had been home.

This was her second offense.
The first time she didn't try to cover up (because I walked in on her) and she was grounded for a week from the computer.
She is grounded from the internet until October 1 (except for school work with one of us looking over her shoulder) and after that she gets 4 hours a week.
Also, she has to write an essay about the dangers of lying. (That comes me being a former homeschool mom.)
There is now a password set on the computer so she can't think of going online when no one is around.

Have we been too strict?
What would you have done in that situation?
What are the rules for your family?

12  Theology / Debate / Re:Judgementalism..... on: August 18, 2004, 07:59:00 PM
Hello Sweetie,

I have been quoting Matthew 7:1-5 a lot.  You can blame it on me sister.   Undecided

I am truly sorry I have been doing this. I believe that Judging someone is up to God not I.  In the Bible a woman was to be stoned to death and Jesus said to them he who is without sin cast the first stone.  None of the men threw any stones at the woman.  Jesus forgave the woman and the men, just like He still does with all of us!!

Love Sis,  \o/

KristiAnn

KristiAnn-

You're not the only one who quotes Matthew 7.
I would like your input in this thread.
13  Theology / Debate / Judgementalism..... on: August 17, 2004, 03:13:13 PM
I hear so often Christians claiming we are not to judge others.
I also hear that the Bible says we will judge the world.
I know the Bible does not contradict itself so how can both be right?

Many years ago I made out a long post on why I thought a certain cult was wrong to follow.
I had plenty of Bible verses to back up my post.

Someone responded with Matthew 7:1 and then told me not to be judgemental.
Was the person who accused me of being judgemental suffering from a case of judgementalism?
Did I get judged? or was that person just using discernment?

Have you ever noticed that people who quote Matthew 7 are no longer judgemental? They now refer to their judging as being discerning.

Is there a right way to judge?
Examples please?
Verses please?

Is there a wrong way to judge?
Examples please?
Verses please?

Are we to never judge at all?
Verses please?
14  Entertainment / Television / Re:is there a christian music channel??? on: August 15, 2004, 05:04:11 PM
If you have DishNetwork you can get music channels. They are audio only. I think 969 is CCM music.

If you get SkyAngel, you can get TVU (aimed at teens), SPIRIT (aimed at the CCM fans), Gospel Music Television and The Worship Channel (for those who prefer more mellow music.) Those are all audio and video channels.
15  Fellowship / Just For Women / Re:big mess on: August 15, 2004, 03:12:34 AM
A man should act with kindness, be willing to listen to his wife. Value her input, and be willing to act on what is going on around him. Remember that Marriage is a 50/50 deal, not 25/75, or 10/90, in order for marriage to work it has to be 50/50 on everything. Talking is also a major part of marriage.

Who told you marriage was 50/50?
You should tell that person not to spread lies.  Grin
Marriage is 100/100 mixed with lots of forgiveness.

My marriage is not perfect because I'm in it.
Most of the time, my husband gives 100%.
Most of the time, I give 100%.
When one of us fails to give 100%, the other forgives.

musicllover- I've read your post and I will be in prayer for you.
