The dog has bigger teeth and more stamina, leading to bigger property damage. Always an asset. Also, a dog is the perfect ensign to scout out enemy territory. Sincereheart trusts dogs.
(I learned "ensign" from Star Trek. I also learned about interplanetary customs and cuisines.)

not sure how much I truly agree with the statement, I mean after all, none of my 4 cats have ever dug under my fence and traumatized to the point of death my neighbors Chinese goose...or their rooster...or my other neighbors 2 cats now that i think about it... (actually the cats were to blame in that case...or maybe it was hurricane Wilma-after all she destroyed our property fences and the cats just kind of wandered into our yard...and annoyed the 3 very large dogs that we had cooped up in the house for 3 days...really-their fault entirely!!)

Tolorah, I know how hard this is because I went through it with an elderly dog that we loved dearly. Our children are raised and we've always treated our dogs with love and care. We have one small and very old dog left. He's 15 years old and sitting by me as I work on the computer. If we try to return even a portion of the love they give us, we eventually have to make hard decisions. I'll be praying for you. Love In Christ, Tom Philippians 4:19-20 NASB And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Sorry to hear about your cat Tolorah, I'm not a pet person. The only pets I have are fish. I like to watch them play around. To be honest with you I never expected them to live as long as they have. I have Tetra they are 4 years old a lot of them died but I still have 9 of them and they are fun to watch.

Sounds like a fishy situation to me.
I'm sorry to hear about your cat too Tolorah. I don't have any cats right now but I did have 20 of them at one time and 33 dogs at the same time.
I only have 1 tiny little dog right now. A rat terrier.

WOW! Brother, you must have lived in the country and might have been raising them. I know some folks who really enjoy this, but it's hard when the puppies and kittens are bought. I would consider getting a rat terrier one of these days. I've heard they are great family dogs and would be gentle with the grandkids. One of the main things I've heard is they are very smart dogs and easy to train. I've had 1 to 3 dogs since I was born, and I remember all of them.

We lived in a very small city at the time. I use the word city very loosely. The mayor was also the only police officer in town and the Fire Dept Chief, head of the water dept, etc. ........
Three of the dogs and two of the cats were by design. The rest of them adopted us. The area was a popular place for people to ditch unwanted animals. We were taking them in, cleaning them up and trained them well enough to make them suitable for pets. Then we found homes for them. We had a policy for those that took them that if they decided they couldn't or simply didn't want to keep them they were to bring them back to us instead of just ditching them.
We only had one person bring a dog back. It was a small puppy that consistantly walked into walls and closed doors. It wasn't blind, either. It would also trip over a grain of sand and fall down. After going to several homes and being returned a little boy finally showed up that took him and kept him. The boy had MS and fell in love with the pup because he was just like him. The pup was perfectly house broken and stuck with the boy almost every where he went.
