40 arrested for violence in Hubballi over provocative post

Prohibitory orders clamped till April 30
Hubballi which witnessed violence on Saturday night over a provocative post remained calm on Sunday. Violence erupted in the city with a mob indulging in stone throwing over a provocative “WhatsApp status” of a youth on Saturday night. The post showed a morphed image of a saffron flag flying on a mosque. Public property was damaged and several policemen were injured in the incident.

Forty people have been arrested for the violence and security has been tightened. Prohibitory orders have been clamped in the city till April 30. The police took out a route march in the areas which witnessed violence.

Maulana delivered provocative speech standing atop police commissioner’s car along with Congress leader, enraged mob attacked police station, temple

A provocative speech by a controversial Muslim cleric outside the Old Hubballi police station had enraged the Muslim mob culminating in attacks against the police station in Hubballi on Saturday, reports Vijayavani.

According to the reports, Maulana Wasim Mobalik, alias Pathan was seen standing atop the Hubballi police commissioner’s car outside Old Hubballi police station, making provocative speeches. The police suspect that the mob resorted to stone-pelting at the old Hubli police station, a nearby temple, and a hospital.

In the images that have gone viral, Maulana Pathan, dressed in blue attire, was seen standing outside the police station, inciting the crowd. Waseem addressed an agitated mob, which had gathered to protest against the post. After his inflammatory speech, large-scale violence happened in Hubballi.

Islamic scholar in Gaza: Goal of jihad? Make people convert to Islam

Abd Al-Hamid Dabbou, an Islamic scholar in the Gaza Strip, pronounced that jihad is the “pinnacle of Islam” and makes Islam “glamorous, strong and lovable.”

According to a report by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), a show on April 10 on Al-Quds Al-Youm TV (Palestinan Islamic Jihad), Dabbous said that jihad is how Muslims defend their lands and spread Islam to the entire world.

He explained that Muslims don’t want to terrorize people but convert them to Islam. He said that if non-Muslims do not accept Islam and refuse to pay the jizya poll tax “in humiliation,” then they will fight them until they attain martyrdom or victory.

The Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group on Sunday called on its followers to carry out attacks in Europe taking advantage of the war in Ukraine and launched a military campaign in revenge for the deaths of the former leader, Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi, and the spokesman, Abu Hamza al-Qurashi.

“Taking the good example of his brothers in Beit al-Maqdis (Israel) for his blessed operation a few days ago (...) Now they have the opportunity. Europe is burning and the crusaders are killing each other,” said the organization's new spokesman, Abu Omar al-Muhager, in a 33-minute audio message broadcast through his audiovisual production company Al Furqan on the occasion of the Muslim holy month of ramadan.

Belgium starts trial of suspected Paris attack helpers

BRUSSELS, April 19 (Reuters) - Fourteen people went on trial in Belgium on Tuesday accused of helping a jihadist group that killed 130 people in the gun and bomb attacks across Paris in 2015.

The 13 men and one woman are accused of supporting the self-avowed Islamic State combatants before their attacks on the evening of Nov. 13, 2015, and afterwards for the one attacker who survived and returned to Brussels.

Nine accused were present on Tuesday, seven seated at the front of the court, two led in by guards to closed glass boxes. Two accused are believed to have died in Syria.

More than 160 passengers still missing from train attacked in Nigeria

More than 160 passengers who were on a train that was attacked in the northern Nigerian city of Kaduna last month remain missing or unaccounted for, as details of possible collaboration between Boko Haram jihadists and local bandits have emerged.

Ten people were killed, two in the weeks since the attack on 28 March, when gunmen bombed the rail tracks, derailing the train before gunning down passengers and train staff, and abducting scores of people.

Teacher Accused of Raping 13 During Quran Lessons…

BANDUNG, Indonesia: Indonesian police have arrested a teacher accused of raping at least 12 children over the last five years, an official said on Wednesday.

Police on the country's main island of Java detained the suspect last week after the parents of one child reported him to authorities.

The 39-year-old man is accused of sexually assaulting students between 10 and 11 years old.

Suspected Boko Haram militants attack kills 9 in northeastern Nigeria

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria — An attack by suspected Islamic rebels has killed nine people in northeast Nigeria, police and witnesses said Thursday, one of several deadly attacks this week in the troubled region.

At least 15 people have been killed in attacks in northeast Nigeria this week.

The suspected Boko Haram members stormed Geidam, a border town in Yobe State, and opened fire on residents, according to witnesses. Those killed include two women and a retired inspector of police, said Dungus Abdulkareem with the Yobe State Police Command.

A tweet by Supreme Court Advocate Nitin Meshram has sparked a debate on social media, with several users criticising his statements. Meshram commented on the Supreme Court’s decision to commute the death sentence of rape and murder convict Firoz. Firoz was sentenced to death in 2014 for raping and murdering a 4-year-old girl.

Adv Meshram stated in the tweet that he was the one who helped Firoz secure a stay on his death sentence in 2014. In the tweet, he cited the recent Supreme Court judgement and wrote, “I had obtained stay on death penalty in this matter in 2014. Happy that his sentence is commuted to life imprisonment. Live your life Firoz”

After groups of Muslims rampaged through Swedish cities, set police vehicles on fire, hurled stones at police, and injured 26 officers on Easter weekend, German public-funded media giants ARD and ZDF pointed to Sweden’s “problem with right-wing extremism.”

On Twitter, ZDF wrote to its followers that there were “riots at right-wing demos” in the city of Malmö.

The ZDF article attached to the Twitter posts reads: “After the approval of right-wing rallies, there were riots again in Sweden during the night.” Only far below in the article are readers informed that there were “clashes” between “counter-demonstrators” and the police, with no mention that these “counter protesters” were Muslim-Arab youthsm, with many of them screaming on video “Allahu Akbar” while setting police vehicles on fire.

Father of pair killed fighting in Syria jailed for encouraging terrorism

A father whose two sons died fighting in Syria has been jailed for four years for encouraging violence in a speech at his local mosque.

Abubaker Deghayes, 54, called for fighting "by sword” when he addressed worshippers at the Brighton Mosque and Muslim Community Centre.

Deghayes, originally from Libya, was found guilty after a trial at the Old Bailey of intending to encourage terrorism in his speech to around 50 people, including children and young adults.

Ten persons were killed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Yobe State, SaharaReporters learnt.
 
The terrorists, reportedly sneaked into Geidam town Wednesday night and slaughtered 10 persons, both men and women at a brothel.

SaharaReporters had reported that Geidam, which is the hometown of the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali-Baba and located 177 kilometres away from Damaturu, the state capital, shares a border with the Niger Republic and Damasak.

This latest attack comes exactly one year after the sect wreaked havoc on the town.

“We have noted that she has visited a part of Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir that is currently illegally occupied by Pakistan,” ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said of the Minnesota Democrat during a Wednesday press conference. “Let me just say that if such a politician wishes to practice her narrow-minded politics at home … that may be her business.”

33 killed in bombing at mosque and religious school in Afghanistan's Kunduz Province

KABUL: A Taliban official says a bombing at a mosque and religious school in northern Afghanistan on Friday killed at least 33 people, including students of a religious school. Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban's deputy culture and information minister, said the bombing in the town of Imam Saheb, in Kunduz Province, also wounded another 43 people, many of them students.

No one immediately claimed responsibility, but Afghanistan's Islamic State affiliate on Friday claimed a series of bombings that happened a day earlier, the worst of which was an attack on a Shiite mosque in northern Mazar-e-Sharif that killed at least 12 Shiite Muslim worshippers and wounded scores more.
