Pro-hijab ‘protests’ turn violent, bombs hurled at school in Murshidabad, 18 arrested

The Hijab controversy in Karnataka has now spread to West Bengal as locals in the Murshidabad district on Saturday resorted to violence against the school authorities for asking the girl students not to wear hijab or burqa inside the class.

According to the reports, the school headmaster had asked the girl students not to wear hijab or burqa to the school. The headmaster Dinbandhu Mitra had also warned them that their name would be removed from the school registry. The school is situated at Bahutali High School in Murshidabad’s Suti area on Saturday.

Lebanon has banned the new movie “Death on the Nile” due to the participation of Israeli actress Gal Gadot.

According to Deadline, Death of the Nile is being released in the rest of the Middle East as of this weekend, but no requests were made by Lebanon for any edits to the print.

A man was stoned to death in a remote village in eastern Pakistan for allegedly desecrating the Koran, police have said.

The custodian of local mosque said he saw Mushtaq Ahmed, 41, burning the Muslim holy book inside the mosque on Saturday evening and informed the police.

The subsequent violence took place in a village in the district of Khanewal in Punjab province.

‘They attacked us because we wanted to build a temple’: 5 brothers of a Hindu family killed in Bangladesh in ‘pre-meditated’ road accident, 3 injured

On February 8, a speeding van mauled 5 members of a Hindu family to death in Bangladesh in what is believed to be a ‘premeditated’ attack. The incident took place on Chakaria Upazila in Cox Bazar district in the Chittagong Division of Bangladesh.

During the accident, 5 members of the family were killed at the spot, 3 others were injured and one of them is battling with his life at the Chittagong General Hospital. According to survivor Munni Sushil, the ‘road accident’ was a pre-meditated murder. While five of her brothers were killed, two other brothers and one sister were injured in the targeted attack.

A 25-year-old Arabic Teacher from Bihar, Shoeb Akhtar was raping a 10-year-old student in the Darul-Uloom madarsa in Shastripuram, Hyderabad. After the incident came to light, the Mailardevapally Police have arrested the accused on February 7, 2021.

It is learnt that the accused Shoeb Akhtar from Bihar has been sodomizing a 10-year-old boy for ten days in the Darul Uloom Madrasa. On February 06, Sunday, after the victim complained to his father of constant back pain, the parents noticed swelling and bleeding injuries on their son’s private parts. Scholar attacked over blasphemy in Pakistan

An enraged mob attacked and injured a Shia scholar for allegedly burning the pages of a religious book in Pakistan’s Punjab province, where a middle-aged mentally challenged man was stoned to death a day earlier over charges of blasphemy.

Teacher ‘stabs’ 12-year-old girl student to death in Rawalpindi

A man allegedly stabbed a 12-year-old girl to death on Marble Factor Road in the limits of Rata Amral police station on Monday. The culprit escaped after committing the crime but later in the day the police arrested him with the murder weapon.

Police said that the 21-year-old teacher named Adil from Abbottabad used to visit the victim’s house to teach her the Holy Quran.

A few days ago, the girl's parents barred him from teaching their daughter over “suspicions”, according to the police complaint.

Herry Wirawan: Indonesian teacher who raped 13 female students jailed for life

An Indonesian boarding school owner who groomed and raped 13 of his female students has been jailed for life by an Indonesian court.

Herry Wirawan's abuse of the girls aged 11-16 has shocked Indonesians since his case emerged last year.

Wirawan, who was also a religious teacher, had raped the girls since 2016 and impregnated eight of them. They had given birth to nine children.

Prosecutors had urged the court to impose a death sentence.

But on Tuesday, a bench of judges in the Bandung District Court ruled that the 36-year-old would be sentenced to life in jail.
