Turkish court upholds jail sentence against Demirtaş for ‘insulting’ Erdoğan
A Turkish appeals court has upheld a jail sentence given to former HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş for "insulting" President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

An Istanbul appeals court has upheld a three years and six months jail sentence given to former Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş for "insulting" President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

While the decision was taken by a majority vote, a judge submitted a dissenting opinion.

In its decision, the Istanbul Regional Court of Appeal said that it did not find any "violation of law" in the lower court's decision, "there was not a deficiency with regards to proof or procedures," and "the action fit the crime type stipulated in the law."

Muslim Women Who Don’t Wear Hijab Will Face Allah’s Wrath On Judgement Day, Lawyer Tells Karnataka High Court

A lawyer told the Karnataka high court on Thursday that Muslim women who do not wear the hijab as ordained by Quran are considered as “sinners” in the religion and would face the wrath [of Allah] on Judgement day.

Senior Advocate AM Dar, appearing for some Muslim girl students from Udupi district, said, “Non-covering by a woman will mean the lady will be sent to the place where there will be wrath on Judgement Day to give ‘hisaab’. We have to be ready to face Judgement. To cover head is essential religious practice for us.”

Again a French mosque called for assassinations and praised martyrdom

The prefect of the Gironde department, Fabienne Buccio, launched an ” interlocutory procedure ” on Thursday to impose a temporary closure (for up to six months) of the Al-Farouk mosque in Pessac in the Gironde. In the sermons given by the imams, assassinations were allegedly justified and martyrdom vowed.

The mosque is managed by the association “Rassemblement des musulmans de Pessac” and has been opened since 2014 in the town of 65,000 inhabitants, which borders Bordeaux. According to information provided to Le Figaro, it regularly hosts imams “known for their affiliation to the Islamist movement and their Salafist ideology”. The institution is also said to have supported other organisations or individuals propagating “armed jihad”.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham shot a woman in the head for smuggling fuel from the opposition areas into Idlib, prompting protests and clashes in the camps for the displaced.
A 28-year-old woman from a camp for the displaced in Syria’s northwestern province of Idlib was shot on Feb. 10 by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, previously known as Jabhat al-Nusra) near the Deir Ballut crossing in north Idlib.

HTS forces opened fire on the woman as she was transporting diesel from the Olive Branch areas under control of the opposition-affiliated Syrian National Army (SNA).

HTS, which controls Idlib, bans the transport of fuel from SNA-held areas to Idlib, considering this move to be part of smuggling operations.

Ujjain: Molestation accused Mohammad Zaid rapes the daughter of a priest in revenge after being released from jail

A striking incident of rape and assault of a girl has been reported from the Ujjain district in Madhya Pradesh. According to media reports, a youth named Mohammad Zaid has been arrested on a complaint of the victim for abducting her and then raping her. The victim is the daughter of a priest in the Gebi Hanuman Mandir in Ujjain. However, according to the police, while the accused had attempted to rape the girl, he was not successful.

The incident allegedly occurred on February 21, as the woman was on her way to a coaching class. As she was leaving her residence, the accused, Mohammad Zaid, approached her in the street and began pressuring her to marry him. When she resisted, he attempted to rape her and threatened her not to tell anybody about it, according to the police

Girl Scout troop helps young girls connect with East African heritage, Muslim faith

It’s Girl Scout cookie season, but a local troop is providing a different kind of service to their community.

On Monday evenings, the nonprofit group United Women of East Africa, known as UWEAST, opens its doors to the women of the future: the members of Girl Scout Troop 4307.

“Us Muslims, we don't have a lot of group activities and stuff, so this [means] a lot for my daughter, so she can learn about her religion, her culture and all that stuff,” Girl Scout parent Lula Idris said.

ISIS terrorists hope Ukraine war will destroy ‘enemies of Islam’

In its current issue, the weekly newspaper of the so-called Islamic State, Al-Naba, has had its say on Russia’s attack on Ukraine. It advises Muslims to stay out of the current conflict, saying it is about “crusaders against crusaders”. What’s more, the radical IS supporters hope that the war will last for a long time and wipe out the “enemies of Islam” in the West.

In the editorial of the March 4 pamphlet, the radical Islamists express their hope that the war will escalate into a protracted conflict “between the crusaders” that could gradually spread across Europe and lead to the destruction of Islam’s enemies

Sudan: Church Leaders Interrogated By Police As Extremists Close Down Church

Two church leaders from the Sudanese Church of Christ (SCOC) in Gezira State were arrested and interrogated by police on 27 February, a week after local extremists ordered that the building used by the church was to be closed.

The building, in the Al Haj Abdalla locality of Gezira State, belonged to the Catholic Church, but has been used as a place of worship and activities by several Christian denominations.

In 2011, after the secession of South Sudan, the local people’s committee confiscated the building, preventing the Christian community in the area from using it. However, in 2019, after the ouster of the National Congress Party (NCP) and former President al Bashir, the building was vacated, and church leaders asked permission from the Catholic Church to use it again. Since then, the building has been used by the church for religious purposes, but has also been open to the local Muslim community who have used it for social purposes, including a nursery.

An illegal migrant is convicted for drawing a DAESH flag in the deportation prison

Because of drawings found in his cell in the Centre de rétention administrative (administrative detention centre) Mesnil-Amelot, the arrested man stood trial in Meaux for publicly glorifying terrorism.

Sadiq was accused of glorifying terrorism and damaging his room at the CRA (Centre de rétention administrative) in Mesnil-Amelot. He was taken into police custody and brought before the Criminal Court in Meaux on Wednesday February 23, 2022 to stand trial on immediate summons. He was eventually acquitted but fined.

The Moroccan national, who was staying illegally in France, was placed in the Mesnil-Amelot CRA on Monday February 14, 2022. Three days later, a search of his room revealed several suspicious facts, some of which came under the category of “criminal offences”.

Imam Filmed Rape of Child Inside Mosque…Rapes committed inside madrassa, mosques reported from Kerala, Hyderabad and UP

The Kerala Police on Thursday arrested Maulvi Sharaafuddin for raping a 13-year-old girl inside a Madarsa. The Muslim cleric had raped the minor several times and threatened her to keep her mouth shut.

The incident came to light when the girl complained of severe stomach ache on February 25. She was immediately taken to the hospital where the doctors declared that she was pregnant. The girl had kept quiet as the Maulvi had threatened her that he would harm her family if she tells the truth.

The family then had to convince the girl that nothing would happen to them if she spoke the truth out. According to the reports, the Maulvi was raping the little girl from November 2021. Sharafuddin, who worked as an assistant in the madrasa used to call the girl to the madrasa even before the regular class and used to rape her.

Doctors Without Borders workers kidnapped in Yemen

Gunmen in Yemen have kidnapped two foreign employees of Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders) in eastern Hadramout governorate, a security source and two other local sources said.

The medical charity told Reuters it had lost contact with some of its staff in Yemen and that it could not share more details at this time out of concern for their safety.

The security source said the employees were a German and a Mexican and were taken from their car by gunmen that security forces believed to be linked to al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

Two French high schools are attacked on Twitter for a video mocking Islam

This short, 10-second video was uploaded to Twitter on Friday evening, March 4. The video was called ” controversial” by the Twitter account of Tajmaât, a platform for cooperation and community for North Africans. It shows two youths lying on the ground and imitating a Muslim prayer. According to the Taâjmat account, these youths are “making fun of Islam by imitating Muslims”. It happens in a room that looks like a classroom. You can hear the word prophet, laughter and see an adult in a tie videotaping the scene. ” Their teacher,” Tajmaât says.According to this tweet, the incident took place in a school in La Roche-sur-Yon (Vendée). Tajmaât asks the school authorities in Nantes: “Isn’t there a problem?”.

Kano Man Sentenced To Death For 'Insulting' Prophet Mohammed Appeals Judgment
The Sharia court had convicted Sharif-Aminu of making "a blasphemous statement against Prophet Mohammed in a WhatsApp Group," which is contrary to the Kano State Sharia Penal Code and is an offence which carries the death sentence.

A music studio assistant, Yahaya Sharif-Aminu, who was sentenced to death by hanging in 2020 after being convicted of blasphemy by an Islamic court, has appealed the judgment of the High Court.
The Sharia court had convicted Sharif-Aminu of making "a blasphemous statement against Prophet Mohammed in a WhatsApp Group," which is contrary to the Kano State Sharia Penal Code and is an offence which carries the death sentence

Ultra-orthodox Jewish group funding escape for abused Afghan refugees

After the Taliban took control of Afghanistan this past August, Maryam, a 27-year-old event manager, knew it was dangerous to walk alone on the streets of her home province, located north of Kabul. Sharia law forbids women being unescorted. But, this past November, she decided to take a chance and taxi to a market.

It would turn out to be one of the worst days of her life.

Outside the market, a car pulled up alongside her and doors swung open. “I felt myself being pushed,” she told The Post. “Suddenly I was in a car with Taliban men. They took me to a house and began touching my body.”

In a video posted more than a year ago on YouTube, a young woman, not yet 20, is giving a Malayalam tutorial on wearing a hijab. She removes the shawl she is wearing, asking to be excused for it, while she demonstrates the tying up of hair and the pinning of the hijab on top of it. It seems there was criticism on some previous posts of hers when she appeared without a hijab. The young woman is apologetic as she explains it away as a moment of excitement on straightening her hair, and adds immediately that she is coming back to her old ways, for “what you like is what I like”.
