Is it ashes?
Yeah was it to easy or just too obvious on this past Wednesday (Ash Wednesday)?
Here is the whole study with verses if you are interested.
Used as a disguise or put on the head
1 Kings 20:38 and 2 Sam 13:19
I became a boil, but can be eaten like bread
Ex 9:10 and Ps 102:9
Replaced by beauty I contain no leaven
Is 61:3
I can be covered by purple or shown up to heaven
Num 4:13 and Ex 9:8
Dry dust is with me though I can serve as water
Gen 18:27 and Num 19:9
Remembrances are like me as I am poured from the altar.
Job 13:12 and 1 Kings 13:3

Wasn't too easy...I was stuck between ashes and blood, but couldn't figure out how blood could be a headcovering

No-it was a good one! I had to think about it for several hours before it came to me.
You make really good ones.

We hadn't done one of these for awhile so I thought I would try to come up with a new one. Tell me what you think.
Instructions and law, darkness and pride
Angels cause me to fall, but fallen angels I hide
One for the oracle and two for the priesthood
An oblation for God, an atonement for soul's good
I fit Kings and camels; Apostles, Fathers and demons
For the hope of Israel I followed Paul through the seasons
What am I?

My riddle solving abilities are right up (down) there with my singing voice - deep and cracked. (I'm a very poor riddle solver.)
But... from your hint, 'night' seems to work...
Here's one - not so much of a riddle - more of a test of your OT knowledge:
He was the grandson of a king and grandfather of a prophet; the only (known) OT prophet of royal lineage...
Name that person – (and the King - and the prophet)!

Your guess of night is wrong, but nice try.
I don't know your answer though either.

ML,
If you give me another hint about yours I'll think about it more.
Here's a little help with my question - the person is Gedaliah. Now - if you can't name the King and the Prophet your search engine doesn't work too well...
FYI - My questions are aimed more at making people turn a few Bible pages - (as in study) - rather than having to use actual brain power. I find turning the pages of the Bible to be wonderful "exercise", so I encourage it however I can.

Each one of my lines come from one or more scripture verses that contain the term the riddle is looking for so if you do a search on the clues you should be able to link the clues together into a chain that points to the term, though I do take some liberties to make the lines rhyme.
Oh by the way I hid the term I am looking for in the explanation above.

We have a winner!!!!
Instructions and law, darkness and pride
Pro 1:8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
Pro 1:9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
(2Pe 2:4) For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
(Psa 73:6) Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
Angels cause me to fall, but fallen angels I hide
(Act 12:7) And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
(Jud 1:6) And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
One for the oracle and two for the priesthood
(1Ki 6:21) So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he made a partition by the chains of gold before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold.
(Exo 28:14) And two chains of pure gold at the ends; of wreathen work shalt thou make them, and fasten the wreathen chains to the ouches.
An oblation for God, an atonement for soul's good
(Num 31:50) We have therefore brought an oblation for the LORD, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before the LORD.
I fit Kings and camels; Apostles, Fathers and demons
(Psa 149:
To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;
(Jdg 8:26) And the weight of the golden earrings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold; beside ornaments, and collars, and purple raiment that was on the kings of Midian, and beside the chains that were about their camels' necks.
(Gen 41:42) And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;
(Luk 8:29) (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)
For the hope of Israel I followed Paul through the seasons
(Act 28:20) For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.
What am I?
