I like making scripture riddles, and here's one I came up with today while I was doing my work. Since I was studying the apocolypse [sp?], that is what I had to work with, so nobody freak out because the riddle is apocolyptic. Just get some herbal tea or whatever and enjoy.

Ready?

Title: Censership
Difficulty: Medium

From the altar of heaven, a great smokey fire
A mountain of this grows higher and higher.
Now into a censer, cast down to the earth
To purge away evil, hatred and mirth.

What am I and what do I represent?

Ready...GO!

It's a good guess, but it isn't it.

Is it the censer filled with fire of the altar, cast down to the earth Revelation 8:5?

Well, it isn't the fire. But you are close.

Second guess - You are the smoke of the incense representing the prayers of the saints.

Moses' sister's name is Miriam.

His wife's name is Zipporah.

What's his mother's name?

"We" are the smoke of the incense representing the prayers of the saints?

Who is the "you", or the "we".

And, is Jochebed correct?

Hehe! You asked the riddle, and you're asking Cris what the right answer is? Hehe! I love it.

BTW, When we tell riddles, we personify the answer. It's kind of a tradition, although I don't know why. It's kind of like, why do ballerinas wear pink? Hey-another riddle!

Symphony,

I answered Whitehorse's question to the riddle, "What am I and what do I represent?"  My answer was, "you are the smoke of the incense representing the prayers of the saints."  "You" or "we" refers to the riddle itself.

Yes, Jochebed is the correct name of the mother of Moses - Ex. 6:20 and Num. 26:59, at least that's what my bible says.

...we personify the answer     ??

Oh, you mean we place it in the first person?

Well, I was wondering who the "we" or the "you" was, assuming that it is the same as "saints" at the end  of the sentence.   But I was just making sure.

So "we", that is, Christians collectively, are the "smoke of the incense", I'm gathering.  Or, perhaps more accurately, our prayersare the smoke of the incense.

Thank you.  Yes, and thank you, Chris, for yours on Jochebed.  I didn't realize that.  (I thot it was unknown).

We need another good riddle there.

(I know, I know, "Why is Symphony so stupid"?)  Lips Sealed
