If I seem dull, strength will bring skill
I'm given a mission to do the Lord's will
The bearer removes that which fails to bear
I've floated on water to ease a man's care

What am I?

This one's gonna take some thought.  The only thing I can think of is a sword but it really doesn't make sense.  Then I thot of the bible but that didn't make sense either.  And, last but not least, the name brand bar of soap that floats (well, it could ease a man's care, somewhat  Undecided).

Humm, another hard one Whitehorse!!!

An axe head/iron?  Huh

2 Kings 6:5   But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.
6   And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.

Those were all good guesses. Good job, guys!

Sincereheart got it-it's an axehead. It floated, it works at the tree roots to cut the trees down, and proverbs says that if we have a dull axe, strength will bring success.

Good job!

John the Baptist?

Mat 11:11  Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

Here is a new one I made up hope it amuses and tests you.

Redeemed by a lamb or pulled from the pit

I describe Issachar and that’s not the half of it

I bore wood for the offering, and money that was planted

I turned from the angel and mocked the prophet who ranted

Eighty silver pieces my head was deemed worth

But my jaw took thousands away from their birth

I rest on the Sabbath and as a stray must be brought back

Through my offspring, the king, a ride did not lack

What am I?

Donkey.

She stopped and lay down in the road when an angel was sent to destroy her master, and spoke to him in human voice.

Joseph hid a gold cup in Benjamin's sacks (planted money??) and a donkey bore firewood.

Samson killed Philistines with the jawbone of one.

Jesus rode one into Jerusalem.

No work is allowed on Sabbath, so the Jews would not let their animals labor.

Issachar was described as a wild donkey.

Jesus used the parable of a donkey fallen into a pit, to see if the Pharisees would truly do no work at all on the Sabbath - if they would help their neighbor's donkey out, or leave it in the hole.
