3  Welcome / About You! / Re: Hi from Texas on: October 16, 2011, 10:06:19 PM
Hi everyone. I am 48 widow of 2 yrs now. My husband was my life at that time. I was a Christian but taking care of him took a lot of my time as a result I allowed my walk to suffer. I am struggling to get back to where I was. I have allowed people and situations to come between me and God. I need to find my way back and it feels like an uphill battle with me slide downhill.

Welcome to Christians Unite. You're way too young to be a widow, but life too often gives us a raw deal. Like you, I've also allowed life and things to get in the way of my fellowship with my Saviour. Yes, it is uphill battle.

To me, worship is recognizing Who and What God is, the Creator and Sustainer of everything, Who deserves all praise, glory and honor.
8  Theology / General Theology / Re: The Holy Spirit on: March 24, 2010, 01:08:31 PM
I don't think of the Holy Spirit as an "it" but as the Third Person" of the Godhead, with equal power as the Father and Son. HE, not It, convicts us of sin, and He leads, guides, directs, and teaches us. An IT couldn't do that.

10  Theology / Bible Prescription Shop / Re: What is Your Hope? on: March 18, 2010, 12:08:00 PM
The Holy Spirit is in me, and I am in Christ. I am sealed by the Holy Spirit onto the day of redemption, and NO one can break the seal of God. I am eternally safe and secure in Him, the Author and Finisher of my faith.
11  Theology / Bible Prescription Shop / Re: The Sin of Lying on: March 17, 2010, 02:35:48 PM
It seems to me that lying comes too easily to people these days, and they see nothing wrong with it. It seems that people tell the truth only when a lie won't work. God HATES lying. Christians often lie when singing songs like "Oh How I Love Jesus", when their life says otherwise. We sing "Sweet Hour of Prayer", but how many have ever spent that long praying? We sing "Whatever It Takes", and then we tell God what we will and will not do.

I doubt that God is pleased with the lies and hypocrisy of those claiming the name of Christ (myself included--in case anyone gets the idea that I'm claiming perfection) whose lives do not agree with their words. I remember a man who, after I told him I was a Christian, said "I'm a Christian too." Then he used God's name in vain with the "GD" phrase.

I heard a story about a man in a bar sitting next to a lovely young woman. He was telling her about being a Christian as he sat there with a cigarette in one hand and an alcoholic drink in the other.

15  Theology / Bible Study / Re: Can an Evangelical Christian Accept Evolution? on: February 21, 2010, 05:13:48 PM
If anyone denies the truth of God's word that he created EVERYTHING (including an intelligent man and woman) fully formed, then they are nOT of God. There is NO such thing as theistic evolution either, which is a compromise using evolution as part of the creation.

God didn't need help in creating anything. He spoke and it happened! He said "Let there be---" and it was. To deny that fact is to deny that God is omnipotent.
