Theology / Bible Study / Hating?
|
on: January 19, 2010, 05:24:36 PM
|
I just finished the Psalms, and now I have a question. In mMatthew we read, "Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies; bless them that curse you, and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you."
Yet in Psalms 139:21,22 we read, "Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am I not grieved with those that rise up against thee? I hate them with a perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies."
So, in OT times it was OK to hate people but now it isn't? What has changed? Certainly not God since we are told He never changes. Yet He has changed the way He deals with people. In the OT times he dealt with them through the law. Now he deals with them through grace. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding something as usual.

I'm using IE7, although it keeps trying to get me to update to IE8. I was told not to update by someone who knows a lot more about computers than I do. I will look for the word "new". I was just wondering why some new posts are in bold letters and some aren't after I click on the original topic heading. Since the new ones are seldom at the top where they're easier to find, I don't feel like looking fo them. That's one reason why I seldom post.

Most of the time when I click on something that says there is a new reply, I can't find the new reply without searching through the list since nothing is in bold letters, and the new reply is seldom anywhere near the top. All new replies should either be in bold eltters so that they are easy to find, or they should be at the top. I won't spend my time looking through dozens of subjects just to find the new reply since it is rarely at or even near the top, and nothing is in bold letters so that it stands out from the others.

Entertainment / Laughter (Good Medicine) / No raise in cost of living?
|
on: December 20, 2009, 10:08:50 PM

I just received a letter from Social Security that said, "There was no raise in the cost of living during the past year, so your benefit will remain the same in 2010." Well, that's news to me. NOTHING cost more this last year than it did in 2008? So, of course, that means that nothing will cost any more this next year, which is why I don't need a raise in my check. I assume that will also include my retirement check as well. That check was cut as it was to make up for the social security check they were sending me. That way I gained nothing. I just love the logic of the government.
