Wonderful news about your daughter!
I pray that your family will continue to be blessed, with or without the internet.
I've enjoyed your posts.

JN- Clement is a he.
Is there a problem starting a thread exposing a false teacher?

Kristi Ann- we have DishNetwork and that is how we access SkyAngel.
Personally, I'd rather not have a tv at all, but the other members of the household do not feel that way.

What is on SkyAngel that you like?

Brother Love Smiley

<Smiley))><

Not much! Tongue
It's mostly the True Brats and Nuts who are talking about how I can be healed if I'll just, in faith of course, send them more money for their "ministry."   Undecided

There is some programming that is pretty good.
My daughter really gets into TVU and SPIRIT Video channels.

I'm not exactly Bush's biggest fan, but he's far better than Kerry.

Having Kerry get elected would have been as bad as having Gore get elected. It would be just like the days when Hillary was prez.

I'm just a plain ole boring Christian who attends a non-denominational, Bible based church.

Excellent thread!
Thanks!
69  Theology / Debate / Re:Is choosing Jesus a "work"? on: July 11, 2004, 04:42:26 PM
I don't believe it either!
Can't be because it is His will that none will perish. Yet, the sad reality is that people do perish. Unfortunately, His will isn't always done.
If He predestined us, then all would be predestined because that would be His will.

My dad, his soon-to-be bride and his siblings and their spouses are going to Hawaii in Sept. They are such avid golfers that they have planned the entire vacation around the golf courses.  Roll Eyes

I love my dad and my future step-mom, but they sure are strange people.

They drove from CA to visit me in IN. They nearly went into shock because there are only two golf courses (that I know of) that are in driving distance of my house. They had forgotten their clubs at home and were thinking about buying new ones here so that they could hit a few courses on their drive back to CA.

My dad says that the fact I don't like golf is proof that I'm adopted. (which I am).  Cheesy Grin Cool

Since golfing is slightly less enjoyable than watching paint dry, I'd say no.  Wink
72  Theology / General Theology / Re:"This generation shall not pass" Matthew 24:34 on: July 09, 2004, 02:45:37 AM
I've often wondered about that verse myself.

We do have to remember that God is not bound by time. He created time for us.

So should we let these false teachers keep leading people away?
74  Theology / General Theology / Re:Name it & Claim it! on: July 08, 2004, 11:27:27 AM
HI child

Personally I see nothing wrong with it. Just have to remember to do it in a loving way.  I'm notsure exactly what they teach but i would say to treat them as a brother and sister in Christ who has gone astray.  Be patient,be kind.

I think that you can find plenty of examples of what not to do in this forum and you can also find examples of people that have agreed to disagreed peacefully and respectfully.

So do you think we need to agree to disagree with false teachers?

His_Child

Mind pointing out those errors. I've never heard their teachings but i do know people who listen to what they teach on a regular basis.

A visiting pastor at our church visited a recording studio in the USA and he related how they were chatting away about everyday events, cracking jokes and as soon as the countdown began they changed into their glossy smiles and charismatic personalities and all he could think was, "Its all FAAAKE." he did admit that not everyone is a fake. Who is real and who's a fake, i wonder???

How about Benny Hinn teaching that we are little gods?
How about Joel Olsteen (I think that is how his last name is spelled) preaching sugary sermons on name it and claim it when his own father passed away from cancer. I guess his father (who Joel inherited his ministry from) didn't have enough faith.) ?
I believe there was a nice little incident where Pat Robertson took the money given to him mostly by widows and poor people and bought a race horse.
Paul and Jan Couch teaching that we need to let go of our greed, yet they live in a house much larger and more expensive than most of us will ever dream of living in?
