76  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Terri Schiavo – Revisited on: April 13, 2005, 10:06:40 AM
Thommy:

In your original post, you used the words "...dying woman", in reference to Terry Schiavo.

Terry was NOT dying until food and water were withheld, and the withholding of that food and water was based upon a judicial decision concerning two elements: (1) a questionable statement by the husband that she did not want to live in those conditions. Questionable because there was nothing written, no witnesses to the statement, and it was not advanced as a reason until 7 years AFTER her "accident" when a lawyer specializing in "right to kill/die" cases was hired. (2) the judges determination that Terry Schiavo did not and could not participate in life with any "quality".

Where does a judge, or anyone, come off in determining what constitutes "quality of life?"  Is quality determined by an ability to walk? or talk? or see? or draw pictures? or eat BBQ?  If that's what it is, then why don't we just go ahead and eliminate (by starvation/dehydration) all paraplegics, dumb, blind, non-artistic BBQ haters (including vegetarians).  Then maybe we can get on with our "high-quality" lives.  Until, of course, we find some other qualification for "quality."   Maybe we can stretch it to include those who don't read at a college level, or who mis-use words.  Such as saying someone is dying when they aren't?

Does anyone remember Soylent Green?
77  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Israeli police surround Temple Mount on: April 12, 2005, 02:29:54 PM
I think it incredible that the Nation of Israel still has no Temple. Is the land really theirs,or not? What is the big delay?

I guess it is all up to the LORD and his timing.

Peter:
Scripture details very well the Lord's timing and timeline in re the temple mount.
Just FYI, there is a group in Israel anticipating the rebuilding of the temple. The call themselves the "Temple Mount Faithful".  They have currently rebuilt all of the utensils and lavers required for temple sacrifice, and have re-created all of the clothing to be worn by the priests and high-priest, including the Urim and Thummim.  They have also (as of last year) certified as kosher a red heifer, (the first one born in Israel in 2,000 years), whose blood is part of the required "cleansing and dedication of the temple" ceremony.  Also, complete detailed architectural plans have been drawn, and certain woods required have been obtained.

It is widely believed among prophecy watchers that the next move is for the rise of anti-christ to a position where he will be able to "guarantee" the safety of Israel, thus removing any roadblock to the Hebrews being able to rebuild the temple.  This will then be in line with both Daniel and Revelation, and will be the earmark of the beginning of the 7 year tribulation period.

I don't think I'll be here to watch the temple rebuilt.  Grin, even though I do expect it to happen within the next 10 years or so.
78  Theology / Debate / Re:Thoughts on Benny Hinn??? on: April 08, 2005, 05:50:05 PM
I dont know much about Benny Hinn but I am interested in knowing who He is. So far -from what has been said- there is not enough to conclude whether He is a false teacher or prophet.

There is a difference between speaking and prophesizing. Although a prophet has a higher responsibility, they are still human. Why do people think that prophets can only speak the truth and know everything from the time they were called to the time they die? Why do people expect them to be perfect. Only Jesus was perfect.

Prophecies only come from God. A prophet cannot conjure one up in his own mind. But prophets still have a mind of their own and they can still make a mistake in their speaking and teaching. The only thing that cannot be mistaken is their prophecy which is from God. However, the Holy Spirit is still subject to their spirit. So they do control it. But you have to know that they can make mistakes; not the prophecy itself, but in their speaking. However, the prophecy itself should be clear and unmistaken. If they claim something is a prophecy and that something is not true (or does not occur) than that is a false prophecy and consequently that man is a false prophet.

Evangelist. Appreciate the info. It seems that there was error in his speaking and teaching but you didnt tell us whether his prophecies were true or false.

Felix:
As Pastor Roger points out, and I will emphatically state also:
Benny Hinn is a false prophet, AND a false teacher.

Why should a prophet make no mistakes?  Because God said so (Deut. 13).  There is no room for error, or "misspeaking."  When a prophet says
"thus saith the LORD", it is the LORD speaking, not the person. If otherwise, it is no more than a mere man speaking his own opinion and mind, and does NOT qualify for "thus saith the LORD!"

It is only in this late age that so many want to prophesy, and even more want to make excuses for them when what they say is shown to be false by it's failure to materialize.

Evangelist, thank you for that insight. I had heard some of those things from people and to see them written down as from his own accord, thats pretty sick.... Angry

Even worse is that hair piece.

There's a whole lot more comments than just those....enough to fill up a book, and everyone of them garbage.....but they sound good to the average member of the Kingdumb.....besides, they help sell books and get pledges for TV.

Yes, that hairpiece is absolutely awful. As you can see by the below picture, when hair is real and done properly, it looks right.  But since Hinn saw me on TBN before he became popular, he decided to copy it.  As soon as I saw him in it, I changed my style.  Grin

Anyone? *Just curious.........False teacher or prophet?

Among other things....Benny likes to commune with Kathryn Kuhlman (dead) and Aimee Semple Macpherson (also dead) at their graves...says it gives him more anointing.

He also says that God is made up of a soul, a spirit and a body....and so is Jesus, and so is the Holy Spirit....which makes nine, not three.

He also said that his father was mayor of a small town in Israel....turns out he was just a city hall clerk.

He also told the world back in '94 that God told him that he would wipe out the homosexual community by fire in '95.

He also said:
"Now hear this I'm prophesying this Jesus Christ the son of God is about to appear physically in some churches and some meetings and to many of His people. For one reason to tell you He's about to show up. So wake up Jesus is coming saints. You have held back from the Lord in the past don't you dare do it now. The day will come you will stand before Him and give an answer. How dare we not give to God?  How dare we hold back?  Who do we think He is -- some neighbor of ours? He's God Almighty -- we fear the Lord God of hosts. He's not some man -- He's God. If Jesus tonight appeared on this platform here and looked through this camera and said to you I need your offerings so I can touch the world, would you give Him? Of course. Well I've got news for you.  He's saying it, He's saying it, He's saying it through his servants, He's saying it through his Word He's saying it. The Bible clearly states "how shall they go unless they be sent?" And God is speaking to you so obey him. Some of you need to give large sums tonight.  Don't you give those small sums if you have the large sums. Many of you have those small sums.  The best you can give is all God wants from you. The best you can give is all expects of ya. But some of you watching right now have money in the bank your gonna leave it behind, You may even lose it unless you obey God tonight. Give to God tonight.  God is speaking to you now.  Do you know by holding back from God you're keeping God's blessings from your family by holding back from the Lord?  You're saying "No, Lord, I don't want you presence in my home." And when you call tell the Lord "I'm sowing tonight because I believe what this man is saying on TV. I believe what Benny Hinn is saying is what I need to hear."
"This is Your Day" - Television broadcast

And then there was:
Hinn: "I’m gonna show you the power of God on young people, I know you may have seen this before, maybe you haven’t - if you have, you’ll get blessed all over again. I’m in Pheonix Arizona this Thursday and Friday. What you’re about to see is gonna happen there, so you in Pheonix make sure you show up for that crusade. Now, what you’re gonna see happens usually at the last night at the end of the service for the young people. It’s gonna be a powerful crusade, great, great things. Let me tell you something. The Holy Spirit has spoken, He told me He is about to show up. Oh, I gotta tell you this just before we go. I had a word of prophecy from Ruth Heflin, you know who Ruth Heflin is? Ruth prophesied over me back in the seventies. Everything she said has happened. She just sent me a word through my wife and said: The Lord spoke to her audibly and said, That He is going to appear physically in one of our crusades in the next few months. Yeah, She... I’m telling ya,.. she said, the Lord spoke to her audibly and said, tell Benny I’m going to appear physically on the platform in his meetings. Lord, do it in Phenox Arizona in the name of Jesus! And in Kenya too, Lord, please, Lord, in fact, do it in every crusade. In Jesus’ name."

And:
Benny Hinn:" But here's first what I see for TBN. You're going to have people raised from the dead watching this network. You're going to have people raised from the dead watching TBN. Programs -- just plain programs -- programs that haven't done much when it comes to supernatural manifestations -- teaching programs. It's not going to be a Benny Hinn saying "Stretch your hands." It's going to be your average teaching program, your normal Christian program that's blessing the church. There's going to be such power on these programs people will be raised from the dead worldwide. I'm telling you, I see this in the Spirit. It's going to be so awesome. Jesus I give you praise for this -- that people around the world -- maybe not so much in America -- people around the world who will lose loved ones, will say to undertakers, "Not yet. I want to take my dead loved one and place him in front of that TV set for 24 hours."

To which Paul Crouch screamed:  "Benny Hinn! Jesus!"

Those passages do not prove that Jesus Christ Himself existed in the beginning. Jesus was born after Abraham. Being a descendant and a Seed to Abraham - that means AFTER. So why did Jesus said, "before Abraham was born I am" ?

It's quite obvious that you only read and comprehend what you want to.  So why did Jesus say "before Abraham was born I AM"?  It's rather obvious that Jesus was claiming Himself to be the same as the I AM who introduced Himself to Abraham....and that HE EXISTED BEFORE Abraham.  Duh!

Quote
As I said, Jesus Christ was called the "firstborn to all creations" ... but not literally born first. In what manner then? Apostles proclaimed "Jesus was FOREKNOWN" before the foundation of the world. If Jesus Himself existed before the foundation of the world, why need to be "FOREKNOWN"?

You like to hang your hat on one statement, which is a blatant disregard for the rules of competent exegesis and hermeneutics.  It is also quite apparent from the entire context of the passages that the entire plan of salvation, including His taking on the form of man and paying the price for sin INSTEAD of requiring man to pay it himself.  That's called mercy, and grace.  The PLAN WAS FOREKNOWN.

Quote
Again, my contention remains TRUE when the Bible said that the Creator is the God our Father. When it says, its the Father - its the Father. So why the Bible says "everything created BY Jesus" ? Does it mean that Jesus Himself is the Creator? No. The Bible says: The world was made THROUGH Him and BY Him... in what manner? God our Father created everything FOR Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ our Lord became the sole reason why God our Father created everything.

Your contention is false, because you cannot understand the simplicity of the meaning of words. The Bible says "...created BY Jesus", then ask the question "why does it say that?".  Why else?  Because JESUS CREATED!  That's why. And if the Bible says Jesus created, then He created. OTOH, to throw that out because you simply don't like it is to equate yourself with God, and declare you know more about Him and His Word than HE does.  Sheer arrogance.

Quote
Now, again, I asked:

If Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior is God, and we only have one God, and the Father of Jesus is not the Son [because Jesus Himself is the Son], WHY did Jesus Christ Himself proclaimed that the ONLY true God is the Father - His Father - our Father? If the Father is the only true God, what is Jesus? Is Jesus the Father? If God is made of the three: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spririt - and each is recognized as God - how come that Jesus introduced the Father as the only true God?

Simple questions.

Simple answer, but you won't get it.  Although Jesus was God, and was with God, LOWERED HIMSELF, to be found in the form of man. Jesus WILLINGLY subjected Himself (although equal) to the authority of the Father, to become the Son (of God and of man), for the purpose of redeeming mankind. He remains in obedience and subjection to the Father until ALL THINGS HAVE BEEN REDEEMED, and placed under the total and absolute control of the Father.

When Jesus (as son of man) was spoken of as a "good man", He responded with "there is none good except my Father who is in heaven."  Another example of His willing obedience and subjection.

Final word...."...unless you believe {that} I AM, then you will die in your sins."

4. Jesus Christ Himself didn't exist in the beginning. He didn't exist before He was born. He was proclaimed as "the firstborn to all creations" because He was FOREKNOWN by God before the foundation of the world.

Jhn 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Hbr 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world

5. According to the Bible, there is only ONE Creator - the Father. Since the Father purposed everything for Christ, He [Jesus] became the sole reason why God, the Creator, the Father, created everything.

Eph 3:9 And to make all [men] see what [is] the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Rev 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Kris777, I feel remiss in pointing out that you misinterpreted my post.  I was pointing out that a dinosaur, lets call him jimmy, laid an egg before the chicken existed as a species.  So, the egg that jimmy laid, still an egg in its own right, sat on this planet before the chicken did.  I was not suggesting that the egg opened and produced a horse.

Jimmy can't lay an egg, maybe Jimmetta, but not Jimmy. Grin

I agree with what Silver wrote.

Kriss:
Not to disagree with you  Grin, but.........

It was Jimmy, not Jimmetta. You see, the dinosaurs were of that group that lusted after it's own kind, and because of that were given over to a reprobate mind.....that's why they ate each other, large trees, and lived in swampy areas full of mosquitos. AND, on top of it all, the end result of it was when Jimmy laid an egg that contained a chicken, and the chicken turned out to be meaner than Jimmy (it being a Banty Rooster that KNEW he was a he), and proceeded to peck the dickens out of him.....which meant that Jimmy then became hen-pecked, and you all know that a hen-pecked male that lays eggs can't survive very long, and before you know it the dinosaurs ceased to exist.  Actually, they quickly learned (natural selection, you know) that if they held a vote, and selected (naturally) one of their more reprobate members to be the guinea pig, and sacrificed him/her/it to the rampaging chickens, then the rest of the dinosaurs would have enough time to grow feathers and learn to fly, and thus be able to stay out of the reach of the chickens who couldn't fly.

And thus we have the evolution of the well-known and oft beloved guinea pig that runs in circles and through tubes while doing absolutely nothing of value. Wink

Thank you AllInAll for that simple plan of salvation. I think, in my head, I might be trying to make it alot more difficult then it really is. Now I see just exactly what it is I need to do to get where I want to go. Thanx.

BEP, I ask myself that very question on a pretty regular basis. (Thinking in head "If I was to be told that if I witness and evangelize where I am at, I could be tortured and even possibly executed for my beliefs, would I have the strength to do it anyway?") I pray that I will if ever that situation comes up, but sometimes worry that I'd faulter. I guess I won't know unless it happens.

Thank you both for posting something I needed to see.

God Bless,
RObert
