My wife doesn't allow me to sing anyway unless she's gone and all the doors and windows are shut. If you heard me sing, you'd understand why. My little dog doesn't like it either.  

I know what you mean there my friend!  One morning my 3 year old grandson was eating breakfast and I was singing.  He says, "Grammy, don't sing!"  "Why?", says I.  "Because, I'm eating!", he said.

Speaking of 'Southern" foods ... while we were stationed in Norfolk, Va for a few years, I grew to LOVE a lot of those foods/dishes. Collard Greens, Turnip Greens ( ALL those leafy things) blackeyedpeas, grits .. it was truly a 'tasty' experience!

My son was stationed in Norfolf.  Twice!  He is in San Diego now.  In the Navy.

I agree about the "greens".  Love em'!  Mustard greens are my favorite because they've got just a bit of tang to em'!  But I love it all.

I have also just heard from my son!  Here is the email I received this morning, Praise GOD!:

Mom,
We are doing just fine. We are in Alpine, CA. (Mapquest it). We are East of San Diego. We have a fire to the North of us and one to the South. You can see smoke from the fires from our front porch. The one to the South of us was pretty close earlier today but it's moved further away. The one to the North is still in the same area but it doesn't seem to be coming this way. We are on the East side of Alpine, outside of town. They evacuated the West side of Alpine. We are just waiting to see if they're gonna evacuate us or not. We have bags packed and ready to go just in case. I will attach pictures of the smoke I took earlier today. We are fine so don't worry. If anything else happens I'll let you know. I love you and I'll talk to you soon.

What a small world, eh Pastor Roger!?  I actually live in Bellevue now and work in Redmond.  7 min. from my door to theirs!  It really is so crowded now that everything is connected from Tacoma up to Everett and from Issaquah and the eastside to the Sound!

Thank you for your prayers.  I heard from my daughter in law this morning.  They have not been evacuated but are all packed just in case.  She said they could see the fires in the distance.

OH!  Thank you Pastor Roger!  I did finally locate it on a map but had no idea where the fires were in relationship.  Well I feel a bit better then.  Thank you so much! 

They are in Alpine, CA.  I'm not even sure where that is.

If I understand this all right;  "All Saints" and "halloween" are two very separate things.  They just fall near to each other.  Correct?

I have just seen the news for the first time today and have found that the CA fires have traveled all the way to the Mexican border.  My son and his wife live out side of San Diego as he is stationed there in the Navy.  Please pray for their safety as I have not heard from them yet.  However the power is out there too.

I just got home from work and found that the fires had traveled south, and then I read your post.  Please pray for my son and his wife who are stationed in San Diego.  My son is in the Navy.  Pray for their safety please.  And then for strength and courage as I'm sure they are busy helping out.  My son is a strong Christan.
