4696  Theology / Apologetics / Re: Halloween - take part or stay apart? on: October 22, 2007, 07:03:24 PM
Thank you DreamWeaver for the interesting history on this!

I agree that Halloween is nothing to play with.  I've read a lot of books on this and that Satanists today still do human sacrafices or torture on Halloween.  They have cults (we all know that) where a woman will give up her newborn to a sacrifice.  Hard to believe, but from the books I've read it's true.  Told by people that have gotten out.  One of the books I read was by Hal Lindsey.

You mentioned that the Catholics call it "All Saints" and I've also heard it called Hallowed Eve.  Do you know anything about the history of this or the story behind it.

Because of the things that I've read, I end up praying all day for Satan's plans to be thwarted that night.

The way I figure I can help those left behind is I'm listing the prophecy books and some verses on the inside overs of my bibles so that when those that are left behind find it they will know what to look for with out starting at, "In the beginning...." Smiley

Isn't that between Yuma and Gila Bend, a tiny little town?? If I remember.......... blink your eyes and you will miss it......... Tongue

Yep!  That's the place!  Just a little bus stop with a cafe, motel, a school and about 4 cantinas out in the middle of the desert!

I picked a few lemons but gave it up for Lent!  Hahaha.  I also drove a tractor for a cotton gin in Dateland, Ariz back in the late 70's!  I was 21 and stupid then!  Cry

Thanks for the info and the maps!  This is fascinating stuff!

Hello Littleboy,
I do have the thought in my heart that I'll live long enough to be RAPTURED ALIVE to meet the LORD in the air - LORD Willing. If not, I'll be with the LORD anyway.[/b]

Love In Christ,
Tom

KEEP LOOKING UP!!

This is my thought exactly.  I just keep watching the sky!
4702  Welcome / About You! / Re: How did you chose your "handle"? on: October 22, 2007, 11:34:34 AM
Wes?   Grin Grin  Were'd that come from? Good one though.  Wink

Catfish, Raccoon, squirrel, rabbit are not just a southern dish.

Haven't had squirrle but yes, even us Northerners eat some rabbit once in a blue moon.

As to the "Wes", I thought I'd seen you sign that way once.  Maybe I ought to wash me specks!

PS:  Let's not forget the yummy Catfish!  Grin
4704  Welcome / About You! / Re: How did you chose your "handle"? on: October 22, 2007, 10:19:14 AM

Please note that I tried to use simple terms to describe this in an effort to prevent confusion for Northerners.   Grin  There are hundreds of recipes involving this Southern favorite.

Well you tried, but you didn't get me on that one!  My dad is from Georgia!  And now resides in Mobile, AL.  I also grew up on grits, biscuts and gravey and country music! hahahaha!

Pastor Roger...I thought your name was Wes?  I figured you were a pastor though just from all the good info you post!
And I lived in Beaumont, MS (backwoods) for a bit so I've even eaten some racoon!  Aughhhh.

4706  Fellowship / Just For Women / Re: Where is everyone from? on: October 21, 2007, 10:17:05 PM
I see this is a really old thread but I wanted to share anyway!  I looked through every single one to see if anyone was from my neck of the woods and only found a couple Oregonians!  I'm from Seattle!  Even though I was born here and live here now, I've been all over.  I've lived in other places in Washington and I've liveing in Ore, Calif, Ariz, Alabama and Mississippi!  Went lookin for love in all the wrong places you could say.  However there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home.......!  Cheesy

Just A Fool

I know that what you see here, is a fool
But thank you for looking with love too!
So many mistakes I make each day
I praise you for not making me pay!

With constant, air-headed consistency
I continually find myself in difficulty!
No matter how hard I try not to
I always do what I don’t want to!

Will I ever learn, will it ever come easy
To do Your will, unwittingly?
Such a conscious effort it takes
And still I make the same mistakes!

I praise You for Your wonderful grace
Not once have you thrown it in my face!
You always give me love and forgiveness
Washing me clean again, and sinless!

And so I’ll start over, all fresh and new
To do my best to please only You!
Please guide me and help me along
To do what is right, and to remain strong!

YOUR AMAZING GRACE

You’re the one that’s always there
Watching me from up above
Gently guiding me with care
Filling me with Your sweet love.

Without You I am nothing
I slide down and have less and less
With You I have everything
For You provide the best!

The wonder of You makes my head spin
Your amazing grace has no compare
I look to You again and again
For You, may I always have time to spare.

You brought me out of the miry pit
And remolded me Your way
Little by little and bit by bit
You changed me, like a potter with his clay.

You love me like no other could
And taught me how to trust You
You picked me up when no one would
And said, “Do you know how much I love you?”

“I sent my one and only Son
To show how much I care
And when all is said and done
You’ll come home and I’ll be there

My arms I’ll open wide
Your tears I will dry
You’ll come and sit by my side
No longer will you have cause to cry.”

4709  Welcome / About You! / How did you chose your "handle"? on: October 21, 2007, 07:36:02 PM
I thought we could share how we chose our handles; what they mean, etc. as a way to get to know one another better and have some fun!

I'll start:  I am known as "Grammyluv" all over the christiansunite web site.  Besides the obvious, that I'm a grandmother (of 4), it actually came to me because my 3 year old grandson was on the couch with me one day and when putting his arms around me said, "Come here, big love!" in his cute little voice.  It cracked me up and warmed my heart at the same time!  Cheesy

Who's next?  Shocked
4710  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re: The E.U = The 10 toes/Horns on: October 21, 2007, 07:21:31 PM

The last thing i want to do is offend someone

And nor do I.  I was enjoying the camaraderie that I saw happening though.
I agree with Brother Tom, and Pastor Roger (from another post) that internet etiquette can be tricky.  As a receptionist at a large software company we are well versed in it and still I sometimes fail.  As Pastor Roger pointed out, sometimes one is in hurry and direct to the point and it came come out as being short when not intended that way at all.

As to having fun on here.... I sure hope we can!  I'm a fun loving gal and like to kid around and be kidded in return!

As Little boy said,
I love you guys too and so much appreciate you all!
In Christ,
Yvette
