Hello Nikki, I don't believe we have met yet. Welcome to CU, I look forward to more of your posts and fellowship.
My favorite animal is the Eagle. I love to watch them soar in the sky.

I don't know that I have a favorite animal. I love them all, except snakes. I can't stand a snake. The only good snake is a dead snake as far as I am concerned. I have had many kinds of animal in my life. I am one of those people that animals seem to trust and look to as a mother. When I was growing up in Central Oklahoma, the Game Wardens would bring me orphant animals they needed a Mother for. Other people did to. We lived a short ways from a nice State Lake. My Daddy worked on a marina at the Lake. There is no telling how many people he sent to our house so kids could see wild animals up close. Most were city kids who went nuts over all the different farm animals we had also. I love all animals, I just like some better than others. Those pretty birds of prey are some nasty eaters. I think the Redtailed Hawk and the Hoot Owl were nastier than the possums, racoons or the skunks. A caged Armadillo smells pretty bad to. I sure was glad to see several of my "Babies" get strong enough to be turned loose in the wild again.

When we can soar like the eagles, why do we insist on hiding like the moles?

Hello HimAll4,
I think that's a good vote, and I would agree. This is one reason why I watch animal planet's "Growing Up" series. They are fascinating. The last one I watched was "Growing Up Leopard".
In terms of domesticated animals in the city, my favorite is puppies to own and kittens to watch.

I have heard a couple of lines on cats and dogs that are pretty true. They say a dog loves you, but a cat loves themselves, on you. It is also said that a person owns a dog and a cat owns a person. I know I have a couple of dogs that love me to pieces. Our old almost 11 yr old tomless cat just lets us live with him in his house.

My wife and I have an elderly dog who's been with us for 15 years. He just lost his 16 year old buddy. Both of them spent their lives just inches from either us or our kids. In fact, he's leaning up against my arm while I type this. As an individual, I think that dogs are much more affectionate, but many people disagree with that. All I can say is my experience with cats involved pain, and I'm almost sure that cat disliked us. Many of the older dogs start doing some really funny things. As an example, our little dog almost sings when we pet him.

Yeah, I have a sixteen-year-old dog as well. Only I don't find it funny!

Hello Angel, I know many people who love horses, and I think that I understand why, even though I've never owned a horse. I do want to know one thing: how difficult are they to house train?

I use to have horses but, due to my condition I can't ride anymore. Yes horses are great friends, but I have new friends now.
