Afghan capital’s historic musicians’ quarter turns silent
March 24 2022
VANISHING HERITAGE: Gone are the instruments that once filled shops in Kucha-e-Kharabat, as Taliban fighters halt musical performances and even break instruments

Nabih Bakhsh’s family has been part of Afghanistan’s musical tradition for generations. His great-grandfather was a musician in the court of the Afghan emperor 150 years ago. His father was a famous maestro and singer. Bakhsh, too, carried on the family art, performing and running an instrument repair shop.

Until now. The 70-year-old had to give up music and turn his shop into a convenience stall selling soda.

Since the Taliban’s blitz takeover of Afghanistan six months ago, the songs have gone silent in the historic musicians’ quarter of Kabul. Gone are the instruments that once filled shop windows in the alleys of Kucha-e-Kharabat. Their owners packed them and left, putting a centuries-old Afghan musical heritage at risk of vanishing.

The United Nations is a mouthpiece for Islamic propaganda
The UN is tacitly allowing murder of Christians and critics of Islam, while passing resolutions against imagined Islamophobia. Op-ed.
Giulio Meotti, Italy
20.03.22 12:03

The story told by Bloomberg is chilling. Priyantha Kumara Diyawadanage was the manager of a sportswear factory in Pakistan. His employees were devoted young Muslims. Priyantha, on the other hand, was an outsider: a Christian from Sri Lanka and one of the few foreigners in the city of Sialkot, the world's largest football manufacturer.

Word spread that Priyantha had removed a poster with Islamic verses. Malik gotcha98, another manager, tried to hold back an angry crowd by reminding them that their boss couldn't read Urdu. Dozens of employees chased Priyantha onto the factory roof. Within minutes, they stoned him to death. "Off with his head!" shouted the crowd as they set Priyantha's corpse on fire. All recorded in viral videos on social media. He was not the first Pakistani Christian set on fire. A Christian couple was burned alive in a furnace.

A few hours later, news came from Minya, Egypt that three Coptic Christians were massacred by a group of Muslims. They killed them and danced on the remains of their corpses. Upon returning to their village of origin, they were greeted by songs and celebrations, shouting “Allahu Akbar”.

The abandoned minorities of Pakistan: Discrimination with impunity, state and constitutional support to the forced conversion, humiliation of Hindus
26 March, 2022
NARENDRA SHARMA

The everyday instances of discrimination against religious minorities are not only the result of Islamic extremism but many repugnancy provisions in the constitution of Pakistan actively emboldens and institutionalise these discriminations.

The recent incident of killing of a Hindu girl, Pooja Oad in Sindh district for resisting abduction attempt and forced conversion summarises the constant fear under which non-muslims, particularly Hindus and Sikhs, are forced to live in Pakistan. Apart from the constant threat to their lives via false blasphemy charges, there exist discriminatory legal, institutional and constitutional provisions which force religious minorities in Pakistan to live a life of second class citizens.

This article makes an attempt to show the many ways in which Hindus and Sikhs of Pakistan are being discriminated against and their human rights are violated with impunity albeit with State support.

What Made a German Mother Hate ‘Infidels’ to the Point of ‘Martyring’ Her Own Son?
Al wala’ wa’l bara’: The heart of Islam’s problem with non-Muslims.

Fri Mar 25, 2022
Raymond Ibrahim

A female German convert to Islam was recently sentenced to over seven years in prison.  The 44-year-old wife of a Palestinian man was found guilty of joining Islamic terror groups abroad, including the Islamic State in Syria.  Moreover, according to a March 3, 2022 report (translated and summarized here), she

had handed over her son, who was only 14 years old at the time, to the militias as a child soldier. … The boy had actively participated in fighting and had been in acute danger of his life on several occasions. On February 23, 2018, the boy, who was 15 years old by then, had been killed in a rocket attack. She had brought the boy into the IS territory, which is why the accused should also be convicted of involuntary manslaughter. … The accused had tried to present herself as a naïve wife who had only followed her husband.

03/25/2022 Nigeria
International Christian Concern

According to Morning Star News, suspected Fulani herdsmen kidnapped 46 Christians and an unknown number of their children on Thursday, March 17. The attack took place in a predominantly Christian village, Agunu Dutse, located in the central Nigerian state of Kaduna.

The Fulani herders are predominantly Muslim, and extremist herdsmen frequently launch violent attacks against Christian farmers in Nigeria.

“The herdsmen terrorists invaded our village, Agunu Dutse, while the Christian villagers were sleeping,” area resident Rahila John Nuhu Morning Star in a text message. “Please be in prayer for these Christians being held captive in an unknown location at the moment.”

Dubai ruler abused ex-wife to ‘exorbitant degree’: court
AFPPublished
March 25, 2022

LONDON: The ruler of Dubai abused his ex-wife on an extraordinary scale, a UK judge ruled on Thursday, ending a lengthy legal battle between the couple over their two children.

The abuse by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, 72, of Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, 47, was “conducted on a scale which is entirely outside the ordinary circumstances of cases heard in the family court in this jurisdiction”, judge Andrew McFarlane said.

The sheikh “consistently displayed coercive and controlling behaviour with respect to those members of his family who he regards as behaving contrary to his will,” he added in a ruling at London’s High Court.

Yemen's Houthis claim attack on Aramco facility after reports of a huge fire in Saudi city of Jeddah
PUBLISHED FRI, MAR 25 202212:03 PM
Matt Clinch

A huge plume of smoke could be seen above an oil facility in the Saudi city of Jeddah on Friday, according to multiple media reports, with Yemen's Houthi group claiming they had attacked a Saudi Aramco site with missiles.

The Associated Press cited videos of a raging fire at an oil depot, saying the location of the blaze was near the North Jeddah Bulk Plant — which is southeast of the city's international airport. Meanwhile, a Reuters source said a Saudi Aramco facility had been hit. A Formula One auto race is due to take place in Jeddah this weekend.

The Iran-backed Houthis claimed they were behind the strike with a military spokesperson adding that they had also used drones to hit the Ras Tanura and Rabigh refineries, according to Reuters. The additional strikes could not be confirmed.

The Kerala Story movie is crucial as radicals attempt making Kerala a Muslim state
By Vicky Nanjappa
| Published: Wednesday, March 23, 2022, 8:47 [IST]

New Delhi, Mar 23: The problem of radicalisation in Kerala is nothing new. It has been often spoken about but successive governments have buried the issue and pretended as though everything is hunky dory.

In this context, a much needed film on the plight of several boys and girls in the state is set to be released. Known as The Kerala Story, it is a venture by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and writer-director Sudipto Sen.

The movie trailer also speaks about the plight of thousands of girls and claims that many have been trafficked to the Islamic State and other Islamic war zones in the past 10 years. Shah said that he was in tears when Sen narrated the story to him. That was the day I decided to make the film, he also said.

Unprecedented increase in Muslim population in West Bengal has forced many Hindus to migrate, some areas in rural Bengal have 70:30 demographic: Report
25 March, 2022

The demographic imbalance in West Bengal has become a growing cause of concern. A journalist with the Organiser magazine named Pranay Kumar visited a few cities like New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri, Islampur, Malda Town, Murshidabad etc., villages and towns situated adjacent to them, where he noticed a terrible imbalance in the demographics in these villages. Many Rohingya immigrants from Bangladesh have come and settled in these areas. This unprecedented increase in the Muslim population in specific areas of the state bordering Bangladesh has forced many Hindus to migrate from these regions.

Describing the unmatched scenic beauty of these small hamlets in West Bengal, the Organiser journalist said that there are limitless business opportunities here since the land in this area of West Bengal is very fertile and hundreds of small villages are attached to and dependent on each market here but the only problem is the law and order situation and changing demographics.

Spain: An Algerian Daech supporter determined to commit “immediate acts of violence” at the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame was sentenced to two and a half years in prison
March 25 2022

The Audiencia Nacional sentences an Islamist arrested in Madrid in 2020 to two years and six months in prison after reaching an agreement with the public prosecutor’s office.
When Guardia Civil officers stormed Abdelgahan i Bentouati’s house unexpectedly, they found all the evidence that confirmed their suspicions. The Algerian, who was born in 1989 and lives in Madrid, was already collecting materials such as cellulose and polyethylene that would allow him “to start making” explosives; he kept manuals on how to make bombs and how to “stab to ensure death”; and he had even searched the internet for an explosive belt “that could be used in a suicide bombing”. According to the national court, which sentenced him to two years and six months in prison after a plea bargain with the prosecution, he was “determined to act” and “looking for a target”.

What’s more, Bentouati’s possible targets were, according to the verdict of February 23 convicting him of jihadist activities, the Eiffel Tower or the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. Also Barajas airport (Madrid) or Salamanca Cathedral. “There is a video of his desire to reclaim ‘the great castle of Salamanca’,” explains the Audiencia Nacional ruling, stressing that photographs of these “places” were seized, in which he can be seen “marking them with the mark of Daech [acronym for Islamic State in Arabic]”. A ring with this stamp later found in his house: “Which replicates the seal of the Prophet used by Daech both individually and for the insignia of his flag”. On the inside it says: “Muhammad, Messenger, Allah”.

EU Parliament: Migrant crime shall be systematically concealed
March 25 2022

On March 8, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on combating racism in culture, media, education and sport. Behind the supposed “fight against racism” is a hard-hitting censorship of alternative media and a tabooing of any criticism of migration and multiculturalism.

MEPs demand that media promoting “hate speech” or “xenophobia” should not receive EU and national funding. The negative portrayal of certain racial and ethnic groups should be prevented. “Portraying migrants as the cause of various economic and social problems” makes them a target for racism and leads to stigmatisation. The European Parliament “calls for the cultural and media sectors to avoid practices that perpetuate or reinforce negative stereotypes about ethnic and racial minorities and urges them to show members of these communities taking on positive roles”.

In other words, media that speak facts are to be censored. If you look at current statistics on crime, welfare and underachievement, you immediately notice: Africans and Muslims are disproportionately involved. In Austria, more than 40 percent of crimes are committed by migrants.

Chief censor reclassifies The Kashmir Files after concern from Muslim community
Emma Clark-Dow
00:10, Mar 26 2022

Former Manukau Indian Association president Veer Khar has his say at a Zoom press conference to discuss the controversy surrounding the release of the movie "The Kashmir Files" in New Zealand cinemas.
The chief censor has reclassified Bollywood film The Kashmir Files, after the Muslim community raised concerns it may stoke anti-Muslim sentiment.

The film was originally classified as R16, but now only those aged 18 and over will be allowed to see it.

The Kashmir Files is a 2022 Indian-Hindi language drama film, and is a fictional account of the exodus of Hindu people during the Kashmir Insurgency in 1990.

Gujarat: Yasarkhan Pathan lures Hindu girl on pretext of sending her abroad for studies, Pathan’s family rapes, force her to wear burqa, read Quran
26 March, 2022

Despite the existence of stringent laws, purported grooming jihad cases continue to emerge from various parts of the country. In one recent case, the Nadiad police in Gujarat arrested eight out of ten accused of trapping a Hindu girl under the guise of sending her abroad and then physically and mentally exploiting her. The main culprit namely Yasarkhan Pathan and one of his accomplices are, however, still at large.

The incident came to the fore after the victim’s family members approached the Nadiad police with a complaint against Yasarkhan Pathan and nine others namely Jabirkhan Pathan (accused’s father), Faizalkhan Pathan (accused’s brother), Shehnaz Khan Pathan (accused’s mother), Suraiyakhan Pathan, Fardinkhan Saiyad, Faridabanu Malek, Nadim Malek, Jay Kadam and one more person. The victim’s family filed the complaint after she told them about the physical and mental exploitation she endured after falling into Yasarkhan Pathan’s trap.

According to reports, the accused, Yasarkhan Pathan, met the 24-year-old victim Hindu female on social media in 2020 and began dating her. After completing her studies, the 24-year-old female from the SC (Scheduled Caste) community expressed a strong desire to study nursing in a foreign country. This was used by the accused to lure the girl in and promise to send her abroad. He allegedly obtained the female’s visa to Dubai after stealing Rs 5 lakh from her over a period of time. Because he couldn’t get a visa, he sent her alone. The victim stayed for 15 days before demanding to be brought back. The accused returned her to Nadiad and began living in a rented house.

LGBTQ people in Iraq face violence by armed groups, police
LGBTQ people in Iraq live in constant fear amid rising violence against their community.
By Tessa Fox
Published On 26 Mar 2022

Baghdad, Iraq – On his first trip here at just 17 years old, Hyder’s excitement to visit the bustling capital to meet friends quickly faded to a traumatising nightmare that would leave him depressed for years to come.

Hyder, who identifies as queer, was stopped at a checkpoint on the way downtown and taken into a closed caravan where the security officers proceeded to touch his genitalia backed by a chorus of laughter.

The experience Hyder described to Al Jazeera is but one example of why the LGBTQ community in Iraq lives in constant fear, as a new report by Human Rights Watch (HRW) and the Iraqi LGBTQ rights organisation IraQueer highlights.

Human rights crackdowns in Libya having ‘a seriously chilling effect’
India Blooms News Service
26 Mar 2022, 01:57 pm

New York: A deepening crackdown on civil society in Libya, has prompted the concern of the UN human rights office, which noted on Friday that arbitrary arrests and a campaign of social media vilification are having “a seriously chilling effect on human rights defenders, humanitarian workers, and other civil society actors.”

Members of the Internal Security Agency (ISA) of the internationally-recognized Government in Tripoli, and State-affiliated armed groups, have, in recent months, arbitrarily detained some human rights defenders and civil society activists, Liz Throssell, spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), told a media briefing in Geneva.

Under the pretence of protecting “Libyan and Islamic values”, she said, they have “subjected them to torture, verbal harassment and intimidation.”
