Family Sprayed with Acid for Leaving Islam

NAIROBI, Kenya (Morning Star News) – Upset over conversions to Christianity, hardline Muslims in an area of eastern Uganda this month sprayed a newly Christian family with acid and beat a former mosque leader, sources said.

In Intonko village, Namutumba District, Muslim relatives on March 8 sprayed acid on Juma Waiswa, 38, his 32-year-old wife Nasimu Naigaga, and their 13-year-old daughter, Amina Nagudi after they put their faith in Christ the previous month, Waiswa said.

Germany to Parole 40 Islamists in Coming Months 40 Islamists released on parole

In the coming months, there is a threat of “mass releases” of up to 40 Islamists from German prisons who have served all or most of their sentences. Some of them are self-confessed IS sympathisers – yet they will probably soon be at large. Especially with regard to undetected “sleepers”, a serious security problem looms.

In Hamburg alone, there are ten people who could benefit from much shorter prison sentences or even early release. Two of them were convicted of offences in connection with the terrorist organisation “Islamic State” in Syria. Also, of the 21 “dangerous persons” currently in custody in Bavaria for Islamist offences, five are scheduled for release. In total, around 100 of the 551 Islamists recorded by the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) as dangerous persons are currently in German prisons

An ISIL (ISIS) suicide bomber who killed 64 people at a Shia mosque in northwest Pakistan last week was an Afghan exile who returned home to train for the attack, police say.

Two senior Pakistan police officials said the suicide bomber responsible for Friday’s Peshawar blast had prepared the attack in Afghanistan, an AFP news agency report said on Wednesday.

Germany: Islamist wanted to kill and injure as many people as possible, inspired by the Boston bombers

The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office has brought charges against a suspected Islamist who allegedly planned a major terrorist attack in the Hamburg region. The trial is to take place at the Hamburg Higher Regional Court, as the Karlsruhe authority announced on Friday. The indictment still has to be admitted there.

The German-Moroccan Abdurrahman C. has been in custody since the end of August. However, the Hamburg security authorities only informed the public about the suspected terrorist in December. A short time later, the Federal Public Prosecutor took over the investigation against the then 20-year-old – because of the special importance of the case.

The preparations for the attack were said to be already well under way. The young man wanted to kill and injure as many people as possible, according to the indictment. The bomb-making materials found in his possession would have been sufficient to have a devastating effect.

Civil court tells Malaysian woman unilaterally converted as a minor to go to Shariah Court to remove Islam from MyKad

KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 — A woman who was unilaterally converted to Islam when she was a child but grew up a Buddhist failed to get the High Court to restore her religious status legally today.

High Court judge Datuk Noorin Badaruddin said it was inappropriate for the civil courts to determine the validity of the conversion of any person, especially whether a person is a Muslim or not, as the matter fell under the jurisdiction of Shariah courts, and cited Article 121 of Federal Constitution to justify her decision.

Noorin also cited documentary evidence submitted in court over the course of hearing on the woman’s legal challenge and pointed out that the administrative procedure for those seeking to leave Islam has to go through the Islamic courts.

A teacher is still in hiding one year on from the Prophet Muhammed Batley school row. The teacher had shown a caricature of the founder of Islam, during a religious studies lesson at Batley Grammar School in March 2021.

The problem arose as the teacher claims he was unaware of the sensitivities surrounding showing a caricature. According to the BBC, there is no mention in the Koran of a ban against using images either drawn, carved or painted, of the Prophet Muhammed or Allah.

However in chapter 42, verse 11, it states: "[Allah is] the originator of the heavens and the earth... [there is] nothing like a likeness of Him." It is this section that is thought to be the basis of upset, as some Muslims understand this to mean that Allah or Prophet Muhammed cannot be captured in any image.

A young Chechen man was arrested in August after death threats against Mila. In September, he was charged with, among other things, glorifying terrorism, but he was released and placed under judicial supervision, which worries the young woman’s family.

“It is time to take action against this woman Mila who insults Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, in the worst possible way, she dares to insult him and she becomes known for it. (…) Where are you, Mujahideen? She insults your master and walks peacefully on the earth? You have a problem to solve here, do as your brother Abdullah Ash Shishani (a Chechen jihadist who died in Syria, note) did, may Allah accept martyrdom from him. Prepare a wise plan,” he wrote.

(…) For Mila’s family, which has been beset by worries ever since, the punishment was a little too lenient. “Did the justice system assess the case correctly?” the young woman’s mother asks.

The young man, who has the status of a political refugee, was recruiting accomplices on social networks when he was uncovered by the intelligence services. After his arrest, the Lyon Mag magazine reports, the Reims criminal investigation department discovered videos on his phone of Islamic State propaganda, which the young man himself passed on to other contacts, as well as evidence of conversations with jihadists who had left for Syria or Iraq.In detail, the young Chechen was preparing “a punitive expedition” against Mila. Inmates in Pakistan’s Punjab province can shorten their jail time by taking classes while they’re behind bars.

But there’s a catch: Only Muslim inmates are given the opportunity, advocates for the country’s religious minorities claim.

A petition submitted March 7 to the Lahore High Court asks that the administrators of the provincial jail system ensure that the policy applies to all inmates, including Christians and other religious minorities.

The petitioner, Kashif Masih, a Christian activist, says the policy, as written, makes no distinction between Muslims and non-Muslims.

In practice, however, only Muslim inmates wind up having their sentences reduced this way, he claims.

Murder suspect shot by Indian River County deputies claimed to be defending Julius Caesar

A murder suspect was shot by a deputy and transported to a hospital following a disturbance call in the parking lot of a Sam's Club in Vero Beach Thursday.

Seminole County deputies said the suspect, 38-year-old Ahmed Raslan, is connected to the death of a 59-year-old Iraqi immigrant who was found dead at a mosque in Seminole County Thursday morning.

The victim was a maintenance man at the mosque, which is located in the unincorporated Sanford area.

The Seminole County Sheriff says Raslan made two posts on social media over the last day that he had planned to come to the mosque for the purpose of, "defending Caesar," and that he felt the mosque was Caesar's property.

Selling sex to survive in Iran

"I am ashamed of what l am doing, but what choice do l have?" says Neda, a divorcee in Tehran.

By day she works as a hairdresser, but by night she works a second job as a prostitute, feeling forced into selling her body for sex just to make ends meet.

"I live in a country where women are not respected, the economy is crushing, and the price of everything is going up almost every day," she continues. "I am a single mum. I must take care of my son. Prostitution pays well, and now l am planning to buy a small house in downtown. This is the sad reality of my life. I am literally selling my soul."

In 2012, Iran announced a national programme to tackle prostitution. However, according to unofficial reports by non-governmental organisations (NGO) and researchers, the number of people working in the sex industry has only gone up.

Is Putin’s war distracting us from another threat?

While the world justifiably worries about the expansion of Russia under Vladimir Putin, another world power is slowly expanding its reach.

It’s called Islam.  Unlike Russia, Islam is not one large land mass, but it does cover a lot of territory. There are 57 member nations in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) making the OIC the largest voting bloc in the United Nations.

The world’s attention is currently focused on Russia, but it would be unwise to forget about Islam.  Whereas the population of Russia is about 145 million and declining, Islam’s global population is approximately 1.8 billion and growing. 

It’s becoming clear that Russia under Putin is expansionist.  But it’s difficult to know to what extent.  Will Russia be satisfied in neutralizing Ukraine?  Or does it hope to reassert control over its former satellites in Europe? Or does it seek to control all of Europe?

Todd Bensman, Writing Fellow at the Middle East Forum, Senior National Security Fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies, and author of America's Covert Border War, spoke to participants in a February 14 Middle East Forum Webinar (video) to discuss the cases of unvetted migrants from countries "associated with terrorist organization activity" who are accompanying the mass migration at the Southern border.

According to Bensman, although the overwhelming majority of migrants are Central Americans and Mexicans, approximately thirty percent are from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia – countries that have "extremist ideology permeating ... their institutions of government and education." Former U.S. Chief Border Patrol Agent Rodney Scott disclosed that in his last year under the Trump administration, he was aware of fourteen migrants on the FBI's terrorism watch list who were apprehended. Although information about them is limited because "most of that is in the classified realms," Bensman's investigative reporting unearthed evidence of the looming danger.

Doctors are Leaving Turkey in Droves

The skyrocketing cost of living, low salaries, constant political meddling in professional conduct and the general political course of Turkey have triggered an exodus of Turkish doctors.

When the Justice and Development Party (AKP) came to power in a landslide victory in 2002, health was one of the first matters the government tackled immediately and fairly competently. The so-called revolution in health transformed the country’s medical landscape and provided a better (and universal) healthcare service to a large segment of the population who had been more or less deprived of the options usually enjoyed by affluent people. But after two decades in power, the AKP’s health policies have become synonymous with incompetence, nepotism and the same ills that had afflicted Turkey’s fraying healthcare system before the 2000s.

The most visible aspect of this downward spiral is the growing exodus of doctors from the country. More and more physicians are taking off their white uniforms for a better career elsewhere. According to statistics released by the Turkish Medical Association, 1,405 doctors sought to relaunch their career abroad in 2021 after growing disillusioned with the conditions in Turkey. To grasp the gravity of the situation, it must be borne in mind that only 59 doctors left the country in 2012. In the course of a decade, that number has surged dramatically. How things reached this point is a long story interwoven with the larger conundrum that has recently befallen Turkey’s political system and social setting.

Two women and a rabbi were among four Israelis murdered in a terrorist attack this week in the southern Israeli city of Beersheva.

The terrorist, a Bedouin from a village of Houra, north of the city, had previously been jailed for supporting ISIS.

The Beersheva attack was, in fact, the fourth terrorist attack on Israelis in a week. There were also stabbings and a shooting attack in eastern Jerusalem, west Jerusalem and a village near Nablus, injuring civilians and a policeman.

Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad welcomed all these attacks and called for increased “resistance.” Britain’s Jewish Chronicle reports that there’s been a surge in online jihadi calls for such “resistance” that’s believed to be driven by Iran.
