Taliban Officially Bans Foreign Television Series In Afghanistan: Report

Kabul: The Taliban has officially banned the broadcast of all foreign TV series in Afghanistan, Sputnik reported citing a person familiar with the situation.

“The Taliban clearly said to stop showing any foreign TV series translated into Dari or Pashto [official languages of Afghanistan],” a participant of the meeting of Afghan broadcasters, held on Thursday, said, according to the Russian News Agency.

A participant stated that the new authorities said they would not accept any excuses for violating the ban.

3 Hindu youth stabbed by local Muslim men for raising nationalist slogans after the screening of ‘The Kashmir Files’

On Friday (March 18), three Hindu youths were gravely injured in a knife attack while they were exiting the cinema hall after watching the movie, ‘The Kashmir Files’. The incident took place in the Fazilnagar block in the Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh.

As per a report in Live Hindustan, the victims were identified as Sachin, Krishna and Sahul. The youths had gone to the cinema hall to watch the last show of “The Kashmir Files.’

After the screening of the movie was over, the trio raised nationalist slogans while exiting the cinema halls. Irked by the sloganeering, the local Muslim men first argued with the Hindu youths. When the arguments turned heated, they attacked the Hindu youths with knives and inflicted severe injuries.

Worshippers at a mosque in Canada took down an assailant who attacked them with bear spray and an axe, police say.

The man walked into the Dar Al-Tawheed Islamic Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, and “discharged bear spray towards people in the mosque while brandishing a hatchet″ just before 7am on Saturday, police say.

Some of the worshippers suffered minor injuries from the bear spray used during the attack, according to regional police, but were otherwise unharmed.

According to a new poll, More than half of the Dutch-Moroccan contingent across the Netherlands would back the Denk party, known for its support for Islamist Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, promotion of mass migration, and lobbying for Muslim issues.

The poll, conducted by Het Opiniehuis research company in collaboration with de Kantreken, found that 51 percent of Dutch-Moroccan respondents intend to vote for the pro-migrant, Islamist Denk party, with many impressed by the Dutch-Moroccan politician Farid Azarkan at the head of the party

Islamists halt celebratory procession, pelt stones at a group of Hindus celebrating Holi, damage police vehicles

On March 18, 2022, on the occasion of Holi, an incident of stone-pelting was reported in Topchanchi, Dhanbad district, Jharkhand. According to a report by the Hindi daily, Jagran, at first, the Islamists refused to allow a group of Hindus celebrating Holi to pass through their area and then resorted to stone-pelting when the latter resented. Police vehicles were also damaged by these stone-pelters. The police resorted to lathi-charge to bring the situation under control.

Though peace prevailed after police intervention, a large police contingent has been deployed to avoid any further untoward incidents. Risma Ramesan, a rural SP, visited the village and spoke to the people of both communities and requested to keep calm. The police said they are keeping a close eye on the situation.

The commotion in the village began when the Muslim residents of the area refused to allow the Holi celebrators to pass through their locality. Following this, both parties got into a tussle. Both remained steadfast in their stance. The situation deteriorated and the people of the Muslim community started pelting stones at the Hindus celebrating Holi.

A 24-year-old man who brandished a hatchet and assaulted worshippers with bear spray at a mosque in Canada on Saturday has been charged in what is believed to be a "hate-motivated incident," authorities said.

The attack unfolded just before 7 a.m. during dawn prayer at the Dar Al-Tawheed Islamic Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, Peel Regional Police said.

The man, identified as Mohammad Moiz Omar, a 24-year-old man from Mississauga, walked into the mosque and allegedly "discharged bear spray towards people in the mosque while brandishing a hatchet," authorities said in a news release.

Last month, a man named Muhammad Mushtaq was accused of burning pages of the Quran inside a mosque in central Pakistan. A mob armed with sticks, bricks and axes gathered at the mosque and dragged him out.

Mushtaq was tortured for hours and eventually killed, his body hung from a tree. A handful of police officers were among those who watched.

The Feb 12 killing in the district of Khanewal was denounced across Pakistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan said the government had “zero tolerance” for such mob violence and promised that the police officers would be punished.

A Muslim woman has been thrown out of the house by her in-laws allegedly for voting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the recent Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. She had voted for BJP for the work it has done, including the law against Triple Talaq and free ration to the poor. The victim has been identified as Uzma. She got married to Taslim Ansari in January 2021. It was a love marriage. Uzma is the daughter of one Tahir Ansari, a resident of Ezaz Nagar Ghautia colony.

In a statement, she said, “I voted for BJP that has irked my husband’s uncle Tayyab. I voted for BJP because they brought a law against Triple Talaq. My family is very poor. My father is a labourer. We are five sisters. The government also provided us ration.”

NEWS DIGEST – Alhaji Lukman gotcha2tu, an Oyo-based cleric, has alleged that one of the worshippers at the mosque he presides over impregnated his wife.

He made the allegation while testifying before a Grade A Customary Court sitting at Mapo, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

gotcha2tu, who was the respondent in a divorce suit, had in his counter-argument told the court that his wife was an adulteress and had raised the three children in question through that.
