You can vote yes or no even if you differ with the verses. Also, if you feel there are better verses supporting your opinion, let us know. And if you disagree with the above verses, don't be afraid to enlighten me. Thanks!

Neither, or both.

We can know something of Him, if we have a living relationship with Him, and attempt to understand the various ways He makes Himself know to us.

On the other hand, we can never completely know any other person, let alone an infinite God.

You come to know the nature of God by studying His Word and by letting Him lead you in life.  However, no matter how close your walk with God, no matter how well you may think you understand Him, His awesome power, grace, and love are much more than we can ever begin to fathom.

Frankly, I sometimes find myself overwhelmed before Him because of His mighty glory.

Knowing Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior is knowing God.  (Unless, of course, if you don't consider Jesus is God.)   Wink

Absolutely yes!  We can know God.

1Jo 5:20  And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him  that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Joh 17:2  As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
Joh 17:3  And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

While a agree that God's mysterious depths are beyond us, he has certainly made himself known to us in a way that we can understand.  Jesus Christ!   How do we know we know him?

Joh 15:9  As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
Joh 15:10  If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
Joh 15:11  These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
Joh 15:12  This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
Joh 15:13  Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Joh 15:14  Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
Joh 15:15  Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
Joh 15:16  Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
Joh 15:17  These things I command you, that ye love one another.

1Jo 2:3  And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

Grace and Peace!

Please post your thoughts.

Absolutely. We can know God intimately and be known of Him completely. To know God is to know the mind of Christ, which is also the Word of God.  But to further know God, we must spend time with Him so that He can speak to us and we can commune with Him.  Prayer, praise, worship, and intercession are all aspects of knowing God, since we are communicating with our heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. When Christ says "I will come in to him and will sup with him, and he with me" (Rev.3:20) the Lord is speaking of the intimate relationship of two who enjoy each other's fellowship. The Lord intensely desires our intimate fellowship, even though He needs nothing from us.  That is the marvel of His grace!

"MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE, AND I KNOW THEM, AND THEY FOLLOW ME... IF YE ABIDE IN ME, AND MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU, YE SHALL ASK WHAT YE WILL, AND IT SHALL BE DONE UNTO YOU"  (Jn. 10:27; 15:7).

Great poll!  And very good responses.  My answer is a resounding YES[/b][/u]!!!  My friends, it is the grace of God to know Him.  It is by His gracious act of salvation that we might have this opportunity, but to stay at the door would be a shame.  To know Him.  That is our great gift!

Obey God rather than Men! Acts 5:29

Can you know God?  I would rather boast that I understand and know Him.

Jer 9:24 - but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things," declares the LORD.

But, obviously there are some who claim to know Him, but actaully don't, since they don't judge with righteous judgment.

John 7:24 "Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."

Of course, that would never happen with the rulers of this forum or the rulers of this country since only righteous men who love justice rule. (This sentence is seasoned with just a hint of sarcasm)

Job 34:17 "Shall one who hates justice rule? And will you condemn the righteous mighty One,

Can you "know" God?

clauias,

Absolutely, man can know God but,,,,,,

Knowing God doesn't garauntee anyone, anything, consider what he says to those who claimed to know Him and worked many good works according to their own testimony (Mat 7:23)how about the goats at (Mat 25:31-46).

It is essential, God know the man, who claims he knows God.

Many today identify themselves as Christians, but do not know Christ, yet He says, He knows His sheep, these are those whom God has given Him.

And the Bible assures us, that God knows them who are His.
(II Tim 2:19)
