I picked a few lemons but gave it up for Lent!  Hahaha.  I also drove a tractor for a cotton gin in Dateland, Ariz back in the late 70's!  I was 21 and stupid then!  Cry

Yep!  That's the place!  Just a little bus stop with a cafe, motel, a school and about 4 cantinas out in the middle of the desert!

Speaking of 'Southern" foods ... while we were stationed in Norfolk, Va for a few years, I grew to LOVE a lot of those foods/dishes. Collard Greens, Turnip Greens ( ALL those leafy things) blackeyedpeas, grits .. it was truly a 'tasty' experience!

Hate greens, but you reminded me of living in VA-I grew up in the same area.  Where do you live now?

My son was stationed in Norfolf.  Twice!  He is in San Diego now.  In the Navy.

I agree about the "greens".  Love em'!  Mustard greens are my favorite because they've got just a bit of tang to em'!  But I love it all.

I was in the Army back in the 60s, but my son served 6 years in the Navy and got out about 2 years ago. I'm pretty proud of my son, so I'll sing a Navy song. However, I would repeat what Pastor Roger said. I give thanks for all of our Armed Forces and pray for them every day.

By the way, I live at Lawton Fort Sill, Oklahoma and it's a huge Army Base. We are extremely proud of them, so I'll have to sing that Navy song quietly with a bucket over my head.   Grin   My wife doesn't allow me to sing anyway unless she's gone and all the doors and windows are shut. If you heard me sing, you'd understand why. My little dog doesn't like it either.   Grin

I know what you mean there my friend!  One morning my 3 year old grandson was eating breakfast and I was singing.  He says, "Grammy, don't sing!"  "Why?", says I.  "Because, I'm eating!", he said.

I chose mine after reading "The confessions of Augustine" in which he credits the voices of children outside his window as they were chanting "Toll-ege" which is Latin for pick it up and read it! Upon hearing that; Augustine picks up the Scriptures and trusted Christ.
