Muslim threats force out disabled teacher with dog
Islamic students reportedly taunted 'unclean' animal
A Muslim high school student's intolerance for a service dog needed by a student teacher with a disability has reportedly prompted the student teacher to abandon the last 10 hours of his scheduled assignment at Technical High School in St. Cloud, Minn.
The St. Cloud Times online said the situation developed with student teacher Tyler Hurd, 23, of Mahtomedi, who hopes to teach special education.
He's a student at St. Cloud State University, and was assigned to Technical High School in the St. Cloud district for his 50 hours of student teaching, and took with him his service dog, Emmitt.
The newspaper said Hurd needs a service dog because of a childhood injury that leaves him with seizures, sometimes happening as often as weekly. The black lab is trained to protect Hurd when he has a seizure.
The school district told the newspaper it wasn't really a threat.
"I think it was a misunderstanding where we didn't really prepare either side for possible implications," Julia Espe, curriculum director for the public schools, said.
Hurd, however, reported a student threatened to kill his dog. He said the threat came from a Somali student who is Muslim. Minnesota has a large Somali population, mostly Muslim, and they have been involved in issues over their religion in the past.
At the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport, many taxi drivers are Somali Muslims and they have raised objections to carrying passengers with liquor. Airport officials finally threatened to remove from the cab drivers' line waiting for fares anyone who refused a passenger over the issue.
WND also has reported on the dispute over a taxpayer-funded school in a Minneapolis suburb serving mostly Somali Muslim students and accusations that Islam is being taught at the public facility.
Islam forbids its adherents from touching dogs.
Hurd earlier spent some time student teaching at Talahi Community School, where he said his experience was good. He told the newspaper Somali students there even petted his dog, although they used paper to keep their hands from actually making physical contact.
But at Tech, Hurd reported, students taunted his dog, and he left when he was told a student threatened the animal.
University officials said they waived the remaining 10 hours of work that Hurd was supposed to have finished.
"We came up with a solution because I felt threatened by it," Hurd told the newspaper.
A meeting was set up involving Kate Steffens, the dean of education at St. Cloud State, and assistant principal Lori Lockhart of Tech, in order to avoid future problems.
"We certainly welcome (Hurd) in our district, and we hope we can get this all resolved so he feels welcome and his dog is welcome," Espe said.
The college places about 1,000 students in 240 regional schools to help them get ready for careers in teaching.
On the newspaper's forum, "scorpionthoughts" said: "The last time I checked this is the United States of America!!!!! So many people are getting shipped over here and expect to be treated like they and their beliefs are better …. If you don't like the way things are in this country – stay in your own … place of origin!!!"

I just came out of an Harassment class today and that is definitely "HARASSMENT"! The student should be expelled for threatening behaviour and prosecuted. What if he had threatened the life of a student or another teacher's life? He would be expelled. The fact that this teacher felt his dog's life was in danger to the point that he couldn't do his job and that he needed this dog for his day to day life activities is grounds for a law suit. Period.
I'm with you. If you're not from here, don't like how we do things here, then GO HOME. We don't want you, when all you do is cause problems and expect us to respect YOUR rights. These are OUR rights. Abide by them. If you don't' have money to get home, I will personally buy you a rubber raft and give you a Bon Voyage party on the shore! Then you can't say I never gave you anything!

A Water Spaniel sounds good. I wonder if a dogfish would be considered the same by them? We could rub a little shark bait on the bottom of the raft in order to attract the dogfish.

I could go with that and while we're at it we could put our government out to sea since they are the ones responsible for letting foreigners get away with all that they do! The government are the real traitors and the ones at fault. If they would start upholding the law no matter WHO breaks it and upholding OUR way of life and holding these people accountable it would cut down on the disrespect that we receive. Of course
their
kids are all in private and privileged schools. They aren't taking taxi's or buses for transportation. They don't shop at 7-11. ETC. So they really aren't affected like the rest of us are, making it easier to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear. Our own government are
criminal
in the way their own countrymen are treated, and ultimately are
responsible
for this whole mess!

Things are really getting crazy. There definitely needs to be some work done on who can immigrate, and it certainly would NOT be folks wanting to kill us. TONS OF WORK NEEDS TO BE DONE ON DEPORTATION! Nothing we are doing makes any sense at all.

Lebanon: a massive crisis
- a call to prayer
By Elizabeth Kendal
World Evangelical Alliance Religious Liberty Commission (WEA RLC)
Special to ASSIST News Service
AUSTRALIA (ANS) -- Since the 2003 fall of Baghdad, ascendant Iran has been spreading its tentacles and flexing its muscles. Iran's Shi'ite dictators are moving to replace the Sunni Arab dictators as the leaders of the Muslim world and to replace the US as the dominating power in the Middle East. One key element in this strategy involves waging a genocidal war/jihad to eliminate Israel. Iranian influence and military power now extends in a crescent from Tehran through Iraq and Syria into Lebanon where Iran-sponsored Hezballah is re-arming, re-organising and rebuilding right on Israel's northern border. Meanwhile, Sunni but Iran-sponsored Hamas threatens Israel from Gaza in Israel's south. Whilst the eradication of Israel is the ultimate goal, the present flash-point is Lebanon, home to a vulnerable Christian minority of over one million.
Lebanon is split between two diametrically opposing forces: a ruling Sunni, Druse, Christian, pro-Western coalition (the March 14 Forces); and a pro-Syrian, Islamist, mostly Shi'ite, Hezballah-led opposition. The Lebanese Army is similarly divided. The Christians too have been split, with the pro-Syrian 'Free Patriotic Movement' of Christian leader Michael Aoun backing Hezballah. Hezballah's main allies however are the state's various Shi'ite and Palestinian militias, along with Syria and Iran. The main ally of the pro- Western government is the US. The government envisages Lebanon as a modern, secular, liberal, democratic sanctuary on the Mediterranean, while the opposition envisages Lebanon as an Islamic citadel in the front-line of the jihad against Israel. The government controls the north and west whilst Hezballah controls the east and south.
Hezballah does not want to take control of Lebanon as it does not want the burden of government. What Hezballah demands however is total freedom to re-organise, rebuild and re-arm for war without interference. On 6 May the government boldly banned Hezballah's Iran-built independent telecommunications network. It also fired Beirut airport's security chief, who is linked to Hezballah which is accused of compromising airport security. Hezballah's response was 'swift, furious, disproportionate and bloody' (Jonathon Spyer). While the Lebanese Army watched on, Hezballah blockaded all the roads to the airport and forced the pro-government media off the air. It burned the offices of the pro-government newspaper and seized control of western Beirut, laying siege to the homes of PM Foud Siniora and Sunni leader Saad al-Hariri. After demonstrating its strength, Hezballah handed its gains over to the Lebanese Army which is reportedly working to restore order.
So Lebanon teeters on the brink of a civil war: primarily a sectarian war of Sunnis v Shi'ites; a war between US-backed, pro-West, Sunni-dominated forces and Shi'ite Iran-backed barbaric forces intent on genocide. If Lebanon does descend into war then it will actually be a regional war (like Iraq) fought by proxies and exploited by terrorists. The future of the Middle East is increasingly precarious.
PLEASE PRAY SPECIFICALLY FOR --
* great spiritual wisdom, insight, faith and courage for all Lebanon's Christian religious and civic leaders, fathers and mothers; may the Holy Spirit empower them to be wise and comforting shepherds to his people through these difficult times.
* the Holy Spirit to keep God's people focused on him. May they fear no evil (Psalm 23:4) knowing that God is in the midst of those who hold him as holy. 'But the Lord of hosts, him you shall honour as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. And he will become a sanctuary ('miqdas': a place where God dwells) . . .' (Isaiah 8:13,14a ESV)
* the enemies of God to be defeated, so that the whole Middle East may become known not as a region of conflict, but as a region of peace where the God of the Bible is worshipped.
SUMMARY TO USE IN BULLETINS UNABLE TO RUN THE WHOLE ARTICLE
-----------------------------------------------------------
A MASSIVE CRISIS IN LEBANON
When Lebanon's US-backed government took bold steps against Iran-backed Hezballah on 6 May, Hezballah responded with lethal force. While the Lebanese Army watched on, Hezballah blockaded all the roads to the airport, shut down all pro-government media and seized control of western Beirut. Dozens have been killed in the fighting. The whole Middle East is now facing a massive crisis as Lebanon teeters on the brink of civil war. If that happens, it will really be a regional war waged by proxies and exploited by terrorists on Lebanese soil, and Lebanon's one million-strong Christian minority would be caught in the middle. The security of Israel is also at stake as Iran's goal is Israel's elimination -- a feat that would secure its position as the leader of the Muslim world. Please pray for Lebanon.

News Crew Attacked at Islamic School
A news crew from KSTP, ABC channel 5 in Minneapolis, was assaulted today during a visit to Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy. Two men confronted the journalists who had gone to the school to obtain a comment from the school about a state Department of Education finding against the school.
In an attempt to report about the new findings from the Department of Education, 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS went to TiZA. While on school grounds, our crew was attacked by school officials. Our photographer was injured while wrestling with the two men over the camera.
Our photographer was examined by paramedics and suffered minor injuries.
The academy initially came under investigation after a teacher alleged that the school was engaged in Islamic instruction in violation of its state charter, some of which have been borne out, including more-or-less mandatory prayer and an after-school Islamic study period.

State orders charter school to correct 2 areas tied to Islam
An Inver Grove Heights charter school must change the way it handles issues related to Muslim prayer in school and busing for after-school religious instruction or face repercussions, the Minnesota Department of Education said Monday.
Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy, a public school with mostly Muslim students, has been accused of blurring the line between religion and state by promoting Islam, which the school has denied.
Most of the school's operations follow state charter school law and federal guidelines on prayer in schools, but the department found two areas of concern, said Morgan Brown, an assistant commissioner with the department.
School director Asad Zaman said he takes the state's concerns seriously and will address them as soon as possible. He also took the report as vindication, saying: "I now have proof that this is not a religious school."
But the report said the school may be violating the law by allowing voluntary Friday prayers that most students attend to take place on school grounds. Those 30-minute prayers take up so much time that they may be a burden to non-praying students, and could mean the school isn't teaching students for as many hours a year as the state requires. Letting teachers participate, even though they don't lead prayers, may give students the impression that the school endorses Islam.
The state also said it was concerned about the appearance created by the school's bus schedule. The school does not provide busing for students immediately after classes, instead it waits until the end of after-school activities, which include a religious studies course run by the Muslim American Society that more than half the students take.
The school characterized the concerns as "minor," pointing out that the department found no fault with the school's curriculum, library or accommodations for five-minute student prayers held Monday through Thursday.
If the school fails to address the concerns, the department could pull public funding or even close the school, though that outcome is unlikely, said Brown. The school does not have a deadline by which to respond, he said, but the state expects to receive a letter from the school within a few weeks, and the busing issue must be resolved by the time school starts this fall.
The Department of Education based its findings on interviews with school staff members and a substitute teacher interviewed by the news media, documents and two site visits, one of them unannounced.
Public scrutiny of the school heated up this spring, when Star Tribune columnist Katherine Kersten questioned whether the school was illegally promoting the Muslim faith.
Zaman said the K-8 school has received death and arson threats as well as numerous harassing anti-Muslim messages as a result, frightening students and prompting the school to install a security system that requires people to buzz in at the door.
Police stepped up patrols this spring in response to the threats. They also responded to a call from the school on Monday afternoon, when school officials scuffled with a television reporter whom Zaman said showed up at the school unannounced.
As many as 80 to 90 percent of the school's students are Muslim, said Zaman, adding that he doesn't know for sure because, by law, he can't ask them.
Many teachers and all but 50 to 70 of the school's 430 students are released from class at midday on Friday -- Islam's holy day -- for prayers led by parent volunteers or community members. Students who don't want to pray read or engage in a quiet activity.
After school, students have the option of signing up for several activities, including the fee-based Muslim studies course, a free secular program offered by the school, and Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts.
The school contracts for buses later in the day because it saves more than $100,000 and the time meshes better with most parents' work schedules, Zaman said.
But state law requires schools to provide transportation at the end of the normal school day, the department says.

This is the only "problems" the government has found with this school. I think that they need to investigate a bit further. I'm sure that they will find much more.
The Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy is housed in the same building as a mosque and the Minnesota chapter of the Muslim American Society (MAS). The muslim American Society is an organization that has openly stated it's purpose of establishing Sharia law in place of the U.S. Constitution. This is the same organization that has proven terrorists ties.
At a at MAS-MN’s 2007 convention there was an advertisement for the ‘Muslim American Society of Minnesota,’ superimposed on a picture of a mosque. Under the motto ‘Establishing Islam in Minnesota,’ it asked: ‘Did you know that MAS-MN ... houses a full-time elementary school’? On the adjacent page was an application for TIZA” -- the Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy.
The Muslim American Society is the name under which the Muslim Brotherhood operates in the United States. And that according to a 1991 Brotherhood memorandum about its strategy in the U.S., it is embarked upon a “grand Jihad” aimed at “eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and Allah’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”
