Sister Chris,

YES, I definitely remember the cat's eye marbles. I also remember the quest for a good and unique shooter.

Those were the days when every kid in the neighborhood had to be called in for supper. My wife and I were laughing the other day about the fairly common practice of getting a load of topsoil for your yard. It was like a magnet in drawing kids to play on it. It's amazing how many things could be done with a load of dirt, so the parents usually left it for a couple of weeks. (Roads, forts, "King of the Mountain", castles, etc.)  Cheesy

Life was simple, and the best things were usually free. If not, we didn't have any money and didn't worry about it for long.

Dreamweaver,

I was just laughing a little bit and wondering if the younger people here have a clue about playing marbles. They would probably want to know if you use a joystick or a gamepad to play.  Cheesy

I've been there, done that, and I wasn't very good at it. I was usually taken advantage of by a marble shark.   Cheesy
Some of the are scratching, their heads over that one.  Grin

Hey..............remember the one's with a cat's eye in them?  I remember those very well because you would only get 1 or 2  in a new bag of marbles.

Oh.............that simple life.............sighing. Smiley

I love to go down memory lane..........it's so relaxing and peaceful!!!...........not to mention QUIET. Grin

Now that brings back memories. My first solo road trip away from home was on that road from Illinois to my uncles home in Texas. They don't make roads like that anymore.

One of these days, and not much longer. I'll have to finish my trip, down the mother road. Illnois, is the last one to drive on.

Route 66 through Illinois is no longer known as Route 66. However you can still drive it from Chicago to Los Angeles if you know the route (with a few detours. the detours are on new freeways that are over the old road). There is a map with driving directions:

Misunderstanding there Pastor Roger. What I meant was Illinois is the only state I haven't been in on Route 66.

Route 66
By Bobby Troop

If you ever plan to motor west,
travel my way, take the highway that's the best.
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six.

It winds from Chicago to LA,
more than two thousand miles all the way.
Get your kicks on Route six-six.

Now you go through Saint Louis
Joplin, Missouri,
and Oklahoma City is mighty pretty.
You see Amarillo,
Gallup, New Mexico,
Flagstaff, Arizona.
Don't forget Winona,
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino.

Won't you get hip to this timely tip:
when you make that California trip
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six.

when you make that California trip
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six.
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six.
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six.
Get your...on
Get your...on
Get your...on
