Has anyone read The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis?  I am reading it right now and am absolutely facinated by it.  My favorite part chapter 8 and the Law of Undulation.  If anyone hasn't read it, I would definatly, definatly recommend it.
God Bless you all~

5  Theology / General Theology / Re:The Dreamworld is real. on: August 22, 2004, 11:53:17 AM
Being the psycological being that I am, I definatly pay attention and analyze the menings of my dreams.  I have found that my dreams usually circle around a summary of my day or week, or even a certain memory I have of the past.  My dreams often contain certain images that I remember more than others, no matter how peculiar they may be.  For example, I once walked into my den at my house to see my dad flipping through channels on the tv, and I got a quick glimpse of a zebra from the discovery channel.  No more than a 3 second glimpse, and yet, that night, I had a dream about it.  Of course, the obvious question is, did someone want me to remember this for a reason?  I think that all of our dreams have patterns, just like our day has patterns (like going to the bathroom after lunch everyday, or closing a pantry door in your house before you go to sleep), which is why we get that pre-destined or psycic feeling when we dream about something, and then they happen.  Just like every human has a continuous emotional series of troughs and peaks, so do we in our physical everyday lives.  Even though we don't often notice it, we are all moving to the barely-audible rhythm of time.  That's why I think our dreams are kind of like a way for our minds to skip ahead a few measures because we've got a sense of the tempo.  So do I think our dreams are real?  Yes, I think they are because it is our subconcious' way of telling our concious mind that we do hear the rhythm of time, and we're just to caught up in the chaotic symphony to hear the repitious tempo.
I hope I somehow got my point across, lol.  Welcome Matt, God Bless,
peachykeen

lol, thanks felix.  I came to this site the exact same way!  I came here desperate for answers and praying that someone would give me a reason to live.  God's work is just so amazing, isn't it?  He continues to blow my mind everyday with how detailed and perfect his plan is.
Did you notice we're almost tied on posts?  *puts on game face* lol, just kidding.
God bless you felix!

7  Prayer / Prayer Requests / I'm back!!! on: August 21, 2004, 10:15:24 PM
Hey everyone, peachykeen is back (finally)! I'm so sorry it has been so long, but there have been even more changes going on around in my family.  My parents are currently in the process of getting a divorce, and I've been moving out of my house and into an apartment with my mom.  If it is alright to ask, please pray for strength for my mother, as well as....insight for my father.  Both are taking it well, mostly because they were two people who shouldn't have been married, and I really do hope that they do not reconcile any time soon, for both of their emotional sakes.  Oh my goodness, so much has been going on, I hope everyone is doing okay!!!  I love all of you soooo much and I hope you are doing well,
God Bless, peachy
8  Theology / General Theology / other religions and satan on: April 29, 2004, 06:08:20 PM
Can we assume that any religion other than Christianity is from Satan?

"Some time ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men men ralied to him.  He was killed, and all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing.  After him, Judas the Galilean appeared in the days of the census and led a band of people in revolt.  He too was killed, and all his followers were scattered.  Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go!  For if their purpose is of human orgin, it will fail.  But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God." -(Gamaliel) Acts 5: 36-39

At a bible study I went to a couple nights ago, Islam came up and the teacher pointed out that, although many people claim that Allah is the same as our God (or they pray to the same God), he is not.  Because of this, we know that God didn't start this religion, does it mean Satan did?

My teacher said yes, but does it mean they worship Satan, thinking he is Allah, or are they praying to a God that doesn't exist?     Huh

11  Prayer / General Discussion / Divorce on: April 26, 2004, 06:22:16 PM
Now, I've always lived with the idea of the only excuse for a divorce is adultery (arn't there three reasons?).  But recently, I've been forced to think a different way.  God is all knowing, right? So if a marriage is completley awful, and the parents have tried marriage counceling and they know it's wrong to divorce, but they just can't work it out and it is completly tearing apart the family, wouldn't God understand?  Or what about wives that are beaten by their husbands?

Just wondering what you guys thought:

yes/no to divorce and why/why not?
12  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:I have no where else to turn... on: April 26, 2004, 06:14:18 PM
oh Courtney, it is so hard to understand God's plan.  And while it is hard to believe that adultery would be a part of it, it can be.  Free will is a part of God's plan too.  I wish I could give you an answer, but the truth is I can only give you my opinion.  In the end, it wouldn't be a miracle answer, exacally what you needed to hear, or something that you would even want to hear in the first place.  I want you to know that I am praying for you SO hard, we all are.  I think what is most important at this point is communication.  I love bep's pastor idea, if you could get you and your husband to visit with him, I think it would help you a lot.  What is hurting you the most right now are unanswered questions.  I know, because it was my unanswered questions that brought me here too.  Let me tell you, however, that no matter how the situation turns out, God will always be there with you.  Good will come out of this, in the weird, twisted way that it does.  I can't tell you that it's going to turn out the way that you want it too.  I can't say that you'll stop hurting tomarrow.  And I also can't say that your husband will regret his decision and come back to you.  But one thing I can say is that this is just another chapter in your self-written book of life, and one day, you will know the ending to this chapter, turn the page, and start the next.  I know it's strange to say, but suffering is one of the best things that can happen.  It's like a weilded sword.  Imagine, a long stick of steel, thrown into the fire until red hot, then taken out and hammered, pounding stroke after pounding stroke, and then dumped into cold, harsh water, and then back into the raging fire again.  We are the sword, beaten, twisted, molded......and perfected.  Through all that suffering, toiling, and crying, we are transformed into something strong and beautiful, never broken.  God will be with you for every pounding stroke and flame, every tear and cry.  It WILL be okay, Courtney, because one day, you will begin to see your new strength, and you will begin to see the good that's clouded behind your sorrow.  I know you are hurting SO bad Courtney, and I want you to know that I am praying SO hard for you.  You can get through this, and the first step is understanding, and putting your faith in God's hands.  He won't give up on you, just like we won't.

"The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoycing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name."
-Acts 5: 41.

All my love and in my prayers,

seeing with my heart, peachy.

lol definatly looking jester, and I definatly agree with both of you (willowbirch and jester), excellent points.  Right now, I'm very content with being single, I don't need a boyfriend to make me feel better about myself.  Love will happen when it does though, but it doesn't mean I'm not going to stop looking.  I'm out there jest, but he's gotta find me too.

Glad to see I'm not alone Willow, we should form a club, like ya-ya sisterhood.  We could be butt-kicking princesses!!!
hahahahaha...
