Prayer / Prayer Requests / California...here we come...(sigh)
|
on: April 14, 2004, 04:07:22 PM

Okay, let's face it. California isn't looking too shabby right now. Look at it this way: The reason why a lot of people came to California in the first place was either a) hope or b) greed for gold. I don't think the greed has left. If it's either Hollywood or Arnold, the sunny CA is going downhill.......fast. I really wanted to direct prayers towards the declining state, a lot is going on there that really scares me.
For example:
On a MTV reality TV show, one of the characters dressed up as Satan and wandered around LA with a sign that said: Keep God out of California (it's a joke but i couldn't help but notice a hint of truth to it, Hollywood refused to back the Passion, and we saw exacally how long those virgin, Jesus-loving people like the good Brittney Spears and the still together uncorrupted N*sync lasted there)
Please direct your prayers toward the state that might very well be one of the strongest athiest states in the US, and many other countries for that matter. At this rate, no wonder that state is going to fall into the ocean, it's beginning to sound like a modern day Sodom. I am really praying that God will begin to spread like wildfire, instead of corrupted movies and politics. Hollywood sends a lot of messages through the TV and movies and I really wish the problem would stop at one of the sources
No offence is intended to anyone who lives in CA, there are a lot of christians there, they just seem slightly outnumbered by hollywood, etc. I absolutly love the excitement there and the state itself, but lately I've begun to notice some serious trouble brewing...more so than the normal stuff.
all my love and seeing with my heart, peachy

Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:Scared

oh felix, as soon as i clicked on this post i was so drawn to you. Boy, can i relate. My incredibly long post entitled "very troubled" has pretty much summed up my roller coaster ride with God. Let me tell you though, I came onto this site looking for hope, a last resort and my last connection with God. I was so desperate for answers, I would literally type into yahoo: can somebody tell me what's wrong with me? why won't anybody answer? and Help! This site was my only connection to the Lord at all, praying that somehow these strangers would be able to save me. Turns out, the only one who saved me was myself and God (we make the ultimate team lol ). Like I said, I came onto this site looking for hope, now I come to it to share hope. At the end of my rocky roller coaster (it's not over yet, but for the moment, it's slowed down a bit) I have finally begun to find peace. Let me tell you from experience, it is not only impossible, but it's exhausting to fight yourself, the world, and God, especially the later. I am in the exact same situation right now with grades and health, but let me tell you, I no longer care if I have to repeat the year or get sent to a different school, or if I never move back into my house at all (although all three would be nice). The fact is, I've found a place in God that makes me comfortable with whatever may come. You are already a beautiful person, felix, I can tell. But this challenge will make you even more beautiful. I will definatly pray for you, but let me tell you that the ultimate peace that you crave is in no good grade, parent, friend, or relationship, it's in god. I know you can get through this, even better than I did. All that matters is God, and He loves you too much to let you go. Hang in there, you can do this!!! all my love and seenig with my heart, peachy. Matthew 12: 22-24

Fellowship / You name it!! / Re:Accepting Compliments
|

It's always very nice to recieve a compliment, but it's not being prideful in accepting them. It's not boasting yourself, it's someone else's valid opinion they're just sharring with you. The best way to accept them? Look em' straight in the eyes and say thanks. You can even add a "That means a lot" or two. Just be honest with how nice the compliment is. I know from experience, it's better to take a compliment than deny it or shoot it down.
Definatley take credit for what you do, too. If you honestly did the work, then don't let someone else trample over you and take the credit. It's honesty, and I know it hurts a lot if you let someone else steal your well-earned limelight.

no, of course not. If you mean it as a, i-want-to-talk-to-you-because-you're-attractive-wave-slash-conversation, it's just expressing intrest. It doesn't have to go anywhere from there. It's a nice thing to do, however, because one-it's usually pretty fun gettnig to know strangers, and two-you never know when you might find a real attraction to a person. PS- being a girl, I know it's also very nice to get waved at lol .

One of my favorite poems by Maya Angelou. It doesn't spell out christianity, but it basically says NO one, with the exception of no one, can make it alone. Hope you enjoy, peaches.
Alone by Maya Angelou Lying, thinking Last night How to find my soul a home Where water is not thirsty And bread loaf is not stone I came up with one thing And I don't believe I'm wrong That nobody, But nobody Can make it out here alone.
Alone, all alone Nobody, but nobody Can make it out here alone.
There are some millionaires With money they can't use Their wives run round like banshees Their children sing the blues They've got expensive doctors To cure their hearts of stone. But nobody No, nobody Can make it out here alone.
Alone, all alone Nobody, but nobody Can make it out here alone.
Now if you listen closely I'll tell you what I know Storm clouds are gathering The wind is gonna blow The race of man is suffering And I can hear the moan, 'Cause nobody, But nobody Can make it out here alone.
Alone, all alone Nobody, but nobody Can make it out here alone.

Prayer / General Discussion / Re:To Those in Fear of Death
|
on: April 07, 2004, 04:04:09 PM
|
Amen!!! I also don't fear death, it'll only bring me closer to God, where I plan to do some serious worship . I don't care for mankind's description of heaven, like some place where every earthly happiness is at our fingertips, aka food, clothing, smells, places....I think it's something much, MUCH better than that. So how can we be afraid of that? One of my favorite quotes of all time, had it in my quote box for a while too: "To a well organized mind, death is only the next great adventure." -Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Order of the Order of the Phoenix. (And for those of you who think harry potter is the devil's book, I don't mean to start a debate, it's simply a good quote) my love, peaches

Prayer / General Discussion / False exceptance, need help on this one
|
on: April 07, 2004, 03:58:40 PM
|
Hello all, I am pleased to say that I will be going on my Missions Trip again this summer *super excitement.* But I have found myself thinking about false exceptance. For example, my first missions trip ever, we went to work on a man's house and spent an extreme amount of time on a gutter system we built about three times before getting it right. THe last day we were in the city, we drove to his house to tell him we were finished, where we shared the word. He said he had not accepted Christ, and he would be glad to accept. So we prayed the prayer and gave him a bible and headed back to the car. I felt like I was the only one who didn't think he really accepted. I mean, he had seen us slave over this stubborn gutter system, and if I were in his position, I would've felt guilty if I didn't accept. Considering it was my first trip, I didn't say anything because I wasn't sure if this was a normal reaction or not. Basically, I just wanted to say I notice a lot of people smiling and nodding, praying a quick prayer and then getting back to work. I think it's called obliged christianity. But what are you going to do, accuse them of accepting because they don't want to be rude? I'm just wondering what to do in that kind of situation, when it's obvious that they're just trying to get you out of the way. I'm also contemplating taking a road trip this summer and ministering to people along the way. Anyways, need some help thinking through this. all my love, peaches.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH i absolutly LOVE veggie tales. Larry the cucumber, absolute favorite cartoon character ever. Well, maybe next to sponge bob......or strong bad. Anyways, I love the cheesburger song too, I know the entire song thanks to a cd my camp councelor burned one year. I'm so glad I'm not the only one not thrilled by talking vegtables. But boy....it's been a while.
