16  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:"Earth Day" on: April 23, 2004, 03:51:58 PM
I didn't think it was so much worshiping as simply giving thanks for it or taking care of it (in the 5th grade I made my friend come clean up everybody's yard on Earth Day, like cigarette butts and newspapers, bits of plastic, things like that.  She nearly killed me afterwards though, and overthrew me as president of our "club"....ahhh pre-teen politics...)

I don't really get the concept of it...explain for peaches?

PS- Arbor Day next friday

thanks for the tips, next time I'm cruising with my girlfriends and we're low on cash (that happens a lot...surprisingly...) I'll recomend Sam's and Dairy Queen.  Maybe even the dollar theater too  Wink.
just noticed- my spiritual b-day is the same as bep's real one, happy belated one beep!

While both of you make great points, I honestly think we'll know for sure only when it gets here.  Jesus didn't expect us to have it all figured out before it happened, he said that no one would be prepared on the day that He decends on the cloud again.  God only knows if he's going to gather up the christians before that or if we get tossed into the turbulent, churning waves of violence, corruption, war, greed, fammon, sickness, and inevitably death with the rest of the world.

While I can't say I see it on the horizon, or I can plan on it coming in 2014 or something...let's just say I have my swimsuit on in the meantime.  Just in case.

You guys both have a lot of research, I could never remember that many verses!

seeing with my heart, peachy.

Fabulous idea!

PS-I'll try and keep quiet on the old folk jokes, but just in case some of you like to gum your mac-and-cheese, 3 pm is happy hour at lubys, you can be home in time to watch 60 minutes Wink  (JUST KIDDING i love you all!)

(or jepordy for the more excited old folk...don't forget the Ensure  Wink)
21  Entertainment / Movies / Re:The Matrix Trilogy on: April 22, 2004, 04:06:31 PM
I dunno, I tended to like both of the first ones (everyone seemed to hate it, however, I think mostly cause' people hate being caught in suspense.  But Kill Bill left you hanging and people liked that...hmm.....).  I guess I need to see the third.
22  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re:God's mysterious ways on: April 22, 2004, 03:43:51 PM
I know, me too! (It was really a foreword to my email, but the story gives me so much hope!)

Thank god for the scots in that case (or were you just saying the toilet paper brand?) They also gave us scotch too, if there are any fans out there.  My dad (who is scotish) wanted me to make sure I pointed out: "The Scots gave us everything!"
23  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:Is this one of those all kinds of "christians" forums? on: April 22, 2004, 03:33:37 PM
it's really a great site, koppe1, I'm glad you've found it.  It's really all about our Lord, instead of the sporting event kind of competition that often arrises between denominations (there are some days when I feel like people are walking around with flags that say "Go Baptists!" or "Got Christian Science?" when they really should be walking with God.)
24  Fellowship / You name it!! / God's mysterious ways on: April 20, 2004, 02:36:15 PM
This story always makes me smile and gives me the chills, it's one of my favorites ever.

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog.  There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a
slow and terrifying death.

The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved. "I want to repay you," said the nobleman. "You saved my son's life." "No, I can't accept payment for what I did," the Scottish farmer replied waving off the offer. At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel. "Is that your son?" the nobleman asked. "Yes," the farmer replied proudly. "I'll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education my own son will enjoy. If the lad is anything like his father, he'll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of."

And that he did.

Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in
time, graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.
Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia. What saved his life this time?

Penicillin.

The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill. His son's
name?

Sir Winston Churchill.

Everyone has a purpose. And if you don't believe that, then read this story again.  Our lives are spontaneous, unpredictable, and most of all, tough.  So many people complain that they don't have a purpose...that their life has no meaning.  But everyone does, and just because you may not see it, doesn't mean you don't have one.  The Lord works in mysterious ways, doesn't he?  And think about it, if one little farmer's boy can save the father of the greatest leaders and aurators, who gave hope, courage, and strength to an entire nation and more, think about what you can do.
25  Entertainment / Movies / Re:Strong Bad!!!!! on: April 20, 2004, 01:45:40 PM
Have you guys seen the trick-or-treat episode where you decide what candy to give to the characters?  It's my personal fave, expecially when you give Strong Mad the rocks and The Cheat's head blows up.

PS- what's with the touchy subject?
26  Entertainment / Movies / Re:Strong Bad!!!!! on: April 15, 2004, 02:25:59 PM
don't forget strong bad's eye twitch too!  makes me laugh like crazy (now i have one too with my partner-in-crime haley).

what's one really good quote from the site?  Now that I have the time, I've gotten into making my own t-shirts, and i really want to make one w/ strong bad and friends.  Unfortunatley, I'm not talented enough to actually create a character with paint, so I think I'll just stick with a quote.  Maybe something like "come on fquwugrads".....wow, strong bad would kill me for that spelling mistake.  Or something along the line of "get ye flask.  you can't get ye flask!"  or one of my favorite quotes by the cheat (gotta love him!) "Those people go to prison!" from the grumblecakes episode.

What's your favorite quote?  I can't decide!!!
27  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:Problem with other christians on: April 14, 2004, 05:02:23 PM
Hey there, I was very moved by your post.  Can you explain to me more about why you feel left out by the whole jesus acception?  If you accept, then you are definatly not left out, and when you "accept," it's just giving an open invitation to the Holy Spirit.  So many people don't really get it when they say 'I accept Jesus,' but basically, it's just asking God to inhabit you into your heart, cause' he certainly can't make the decision for you.

And boy, can I relate to the whole relationship thingy.  I know I am only in high school, but I am the only one of my friends who has never had a real boyfriend before, or even a first kiss for that matter (which I know is weird because technically, I should be "expiramenting" and "hooking up" and "sampling boys").  I've been on a few dates, and had many opportunities for real relationships, but I can never go through with it.  Every time I get close to one, I pull back.  Of course, I've spent many-a-time going, peachy, what's wrong with you, and erpeatedly hitting my head with my hand.  It's taken my a long time to square with my single-ness.  I look around me, seeing at what I could have, but I feel like I want something better.  I see over 3,500 kids in my school, over 1,000 of which are attractive guys.  I should be content with that.  But amazingly, in 1,000 guys, I can't find a single one.  You know what that means?  No, I'm not going to be a crazy ol' lady with thousands of cats, it means that God is saving someone really special for me.  Trust me, you don't want to settle for less, you not only get a lame relationship, but it makes you even more depressed because you feel like you have something that's not enough.  Have you ever heard rebecca st.james' song, wait for me?  It's one of my favorites because it tells me to be patient, as will hopefully my future husband. My knight in shinning armor will come, and until then, I ahve to learn to become my own knight(or butt-kicking princess).  I think God might be keeping you single so you can learn self-dependance, or more of it.  When a couple depends on each other for happiness (as in, depending on each other to always be there so they will be safe and never alone...boy do I know lots of people with those relationships...), it's very dangerous.  I know it's so hard to hear "wait," but let me tell you, your waiting will let you be rewarded with someone who will amaze you.  She'll come when she comes, and you will be so happy.  But just like waiting for a Christmas presant, when you open it, it feels the best because you've been waiting to for a long time.  She's coming, but just wait for it.  God'll be your lover in the mean time  Wink.

i hope i've helped somehow, i know where you're coming from.

seeing with my heart, peachy.
28  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:False exceptance, need help on this one on: April 14, 2004, 04:36:55 PM
Thank you so much for your answers, I'll definatly keep them in mind.  In the back of my head I always pray that they really did mean it or that somehow I made a difference.  This will be lucky missions trip #4 whooo!  Big prayers for safey please, christians seem to be targeted still, now more than ever.

seeing with my heart and big thanks, peachy.
29  Entertainment / Movies / Re:Hellboy on: April 14, 2004, 04:24:30 PM
oh my gosh, sapphire, are you psycic or something?  cause' i was in that exact same meeting with the executives and thats EXACALLY what they said, word for word!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  incredible.....

you notice that all hollywood is doing now are sequels, trilogies, two-part movies, and re-makes of old movies, books, or comics (for example, the remake of oceans eleven, and now they're making a sequel called Ocean's Twelve.  I'll bet money that Julia Roberts is the 12th).  Just like Joan and God said in Joan of Arcadia...seems to me like they're having a lack of imagniation.

sigh....where will we go from here?

seeing with my heart, peachy.
30  Entertainment / Movies / Re:Strong Bad!!!!! on: April 14, 2004, 04:17:03 PM
LOL saphire, did you actually send that email or did you just see it?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the stunt double one, the one with the games (cause you can't control me!!! get ye flask...you can't get ye flask!!!), the monster truck rally (sunday, sunday...someday...), and my all time favorite, the japanese cartoon character (stinko man and pan pan...good times)

unforunatly, for some reason, my comp refuses to let me watch any recent emails.  All that I get is the one about technochocolate and the thnikamann (hence my quote).

Population tire is a great way to laugh of the blues, and remember...strong bad will never ever ever ever ever write a song about sibbie.

seeing with my heart and laughing at the good times, peachy.
