I  not sure I see marrage or single as the gift

It seems this proper gift is that which could come from either state of being every man is in, married or single, to serve and give of that gift according to what that state of being allows, either marriage or single. If so what is the gift remains unanswered. The gift for the married may not quite be that as for the single. The single could devote more to it than the married. Paul's reasoning and His desire that all could be as he, single.

34  Theology / Apologetics / The Proper Gift of God on: January 19, 2007, 09:49:06 AM
1 Corinthians 7:7. "For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that."

What is this proper gift of God that every man has? I assume Paul is talking to every man that is a saint in Christ and not just those at Corinth. What is each man's proper gift, how do we know it, if this is aimed at all faithful men?

36  Theology / General Theology / True Faith Includes Obedience on: December 24, 2006, 08:18:56 AM
True faith includes obedience.

In John 3:36, John wrote, "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him"

Romans 16:25. Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
26. But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
27. To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

37  Fellowship / You name it!! / Tis the Season on: December 19, 2006, 09:03:23 AM
Christ is the Saviour. He was born to it. He died on the cross for our sins and we who believe are free from the bondage of such. He was resurrected from the tomb and went into heaven with all power given Him by God. A guarantee that likewise He will raise up believers, saved to eternal life, in that last day. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 1 Corinthians 15:1--58

Celebrate that which He is now, Our Saviour, the Sacrifice for sin once for all who would believe.  What He did on the cross, not that which was and had to occur to bring Him to what He is now. Romans 6:9-11

Have a very, adoring, giving your bodies as sacrifice to God,  joyful and rejoiceful life in the Christ, not just for a season of the year. Romans 12:1-2

In Christian love,

38  Fellowship / You name it!! / Thanksgiving on: November 22, 2006, 07:21:41 PM
Psalm 100:3.  "Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
 4.  Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name."

May your joy in the Lord break forth with thanksgiving to Him always.

39  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / They That Wait Upon the Lord on: November 22, 2006, 06:19:34 PM
Isaiah 40:31.  "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Do the military forces that be in Iraq to bring a win in Iraq for American style democracy fit the definition of "they that wait upon the Lord" as given in the whole of the context of Isaiah 40, or elsewhere in scripture, where who "that wait upon the lord" is defined?

I appreciate anyone's answer in advance.

Thanks,
ollie

40  Theology / General Theology / God's church in Christ Identified. on: October 29, 2006, 10:45:21 AM
The following question is asked:

"Which church is closest to God's plan?"

I answer:

God's with the Christ of God set as the head of that body translated as the church by the King Jame's translators. It is made up of those such as should be saved though obedience to the Christ's gospel, having been added to it by the Lord, upon said obedience. It is known by its fruit.

The church that is made up of individuals producing these fruits would be very close to God and what He wants from His people.

Love
Joy
Longsuffering
Genleness
Goodness
Faith
Meekness
Temperance
Walking as children of light
Crucify the flesh
Walking in the Spirit
Led of the Spirit
Righteousness by and through Jesus Christ
Good works created in Christ Jesus
Those with abundance sharing with those that lack
Forgiving
Making peace
Knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ
Apt to teach
Continual giving of thanks, praise
Communing with one another in the Lord's body and blood and remembering His death
Not conformed to the world
Individuals whose bodies are presented to God a holy, acceptable sacrifice, which is a reasonable service or worship.

I am sure there are more fruits/things that would identify which church is closest to what God would have.

41  Theology / General Theology / Re: What do you think of President Bush? on: October 28, 2006, 10:24:07 AM
President Bush seems a lackey and a front man for others IMHO. Influenced by special interests and big business. He seems to lack the intelligence and brain power needed for the position he fills, that of president of the United States. When listened to, it is hard to believe that such a one is in this highest office of the land and leading the formost power in the world.

He reminds me of Captain Queeg in the novel "The Caine Mutiny", who took his shipmates under his command down the path to mutiny and possible court martial, due to someone taking a few strawberries out of the ship's galley for personal consumption. What is like Queeg here is the obsession to stay the course even though it is shown him it is wrong and meanwhile personal lives are at stake.

I lack respect for him out of his manipulations to avoid action in the Vietnam war.

We must pray for our government. God's will be done.

42  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re: Report: Bin Laden preps more attacks inside U.S. on: September 20, 2006, 09:43:29 PM
Tina, I believe that if you really study Bible prophecy you may be able to find America involved in prophecy. The United States has always allied with Israel.

I think of all the things that are about to happen and I have to pray for the lost souls who still don't know Jesus, not just pray but we have to witness to them and let them know.

If only they knew the times of trouble we are in right now, they would be invading the Kingdom of Heaven with their prayers right now.

God will be the defender of Israel, He is their banner, He is their protector

Isa 11:10 ¶ "And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the Gentiles shall seek Him, And His resting place shall be glorious."

Isa 11:11 It shall come to pass in that day That the Lord shall set His hand again the second time To recover the remnant of His people who are left, From Assyria and Egypt, From Pathros and Cush, From Elam and Shinar, From Hamath and the islands of the sea.

Isa 11:12 He will set up a banner for the nations, And will assemble the outcasts of Israel, And gather together the dispersed of Judah From the four corners of the earth

When I read this passage and I think of the word banner, it is also flag and I think of the flag of Israel, with the star of David right in the center of it , then I can't help but think even Israel's flag points to Jesus.
"then I can't help but think even Israel's flag points to Jesus."

Israel and the law pointed to Jesus the Christ.  Israel today deny's Jesus is the Christ. They are liars according to John as revealed to him by the Holy Spirit. He is antiChrist that denys the Father and the Son.

1 John 2:22.  "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
 23.  Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [but] he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also."

They and nothing about them points to the Christ today except their being antiChrist.

44  Theology / Bible Study / Re: David on: July 30, 2006, 10:14:20 AM
The Psalmist, David, hints at God's power over the grave.

Psalms 16:8.  "I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
 9.  Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
 10.  For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
 11.  Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."

Peter refers to this Psalm in Acts 2:25-28 and in Acts 13:33-37.
