31  Welcome / About You! / Re:Hi, im an atheist on: March 05, 2004, 04:46:40 PM
I know, i know. But don't worry. I'm very respectfull and won't go round bad mouthing anyone or anything.
I'm interested in the idea of religion and God and quite enjoy discussing it but I'm not totally knowledgable about the Bible etc, so please bear with me.
 Thanks, Smiley

Modified - "God" always with a big "G". bep

Welcome!
This a good place to meet friends and learn about God. If you ever want to know anything about God just ask.
32  Welcome / About You! / Re:New Person Here! on: March 05, 2004, 04:40:16 PM
Greetings!  Grin I am new.
I'm from the UK, been a Christian for about 3 years. Started off in my faith sort of accepting it but not really living. Then I attended a massive christian event and it changed my entire faith perspective (after about a year).

I began to live it a bit more. That is when I started grow in my faith from my original saving event. I think i've learnt a lot in the last 2 years and grown a lot.. but lately i've really lost my way a bit I think..

Family are non-christian but sort of believe in a God etc. because its a 'good thing to believe in' I think. The same reason they sent me to Sunday school when I was younger I guess?

Hi Everyone!!  Cool

Welcome Life,
Hope you enjoy your time here. There are a lot of nice folks here. There is a lot to talk about in here. Hope to be posting with ya soon.

This is my first day at this web site.  I will admit it is rather refreshing to see such a Christ centered site.   I look forward to many discussions….  Speaking of discussions, I have posted a forum topic today, under the movie section, entitled, “Passion for Passion”… check it out and let me know what you think and what your experience was like…and so on.  I look forward to reading everyone’s comments/input…

Tony

34  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Killing God on: March 05, 2004, 04:30:46 AM
"They" have been trying to "kill God" for all of history.  Symph - I don't know how old you are, But I'm sure Reba remembers (sorry Reba)  Grin back around 35 years ago, on a very slow news day, the New York Times lead story - big all caps bold headline: "GOD IS DEAD".   It caused quite a stir.  If there had been such a thing as the internet back then (that was before Algore invented it) it would have been all over discussion forums around the world.
What was it really?  An attempt by secular humanists to demean Christianity and Judaism.

BUT - we have the Gospel (the GOOD NEWS) that cannot be "hushed".  Truth is truth, and truth (The Word) will survive for an eternity after The New York Times is but forgotten dust on the window sill of the ages.
There aint a chance they can even think about killing God.
Gay people have been around since Lots time if not longer. God already give the law. Just now, they are trying to make it plublic.
People who have no use for God, God has already give them over to do what they please to do those things that are sinful,shameful..etc..yet that is just one sign of Christ return...men will be lovers of themself...I would hate to think in 1-3 years from now that gay people can marry by law. and if Christ waits ..and in the mean time lets say hmm..10 years from now..gay people having the right to marry....think of the young kids growing up thinking  the gay lifestyle is normal. we can warn then, witness to them, pray for them, and after all that and it doesnt help...it will be only their fault when they stand before God. and pleasde dont tell me the lie about them being BORN gay..if God made one gay he wouldnt send them to hell for that. they know its wrong..plain and simple. they just dont care. yet they always have a change to change before death. so if you know a gay person witness to him/her.if they wont listen thats all you can do. just half the world goes with the flow and never think about what it will lead to. thats my view anyways.
35  Entertainment / Politics and Political Issues / Re:NEVER WERE ANY WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION IN IRAQ on: March 05, 2004, 03:59:39 AM
Show us the weapons.

Now, don't jump all over me, I am not saying Bush lied or didn't lie...quite simply I don't know (being Canadian and all, ya know?)

But if you want absolute proof, why not show us the weapons?

Now, I'll but out.

Gracey
I don't know what's going on in America, let alone Canada, but in the rest of the world they've admitted that the weapons never existed, and that they never had hard evidence that they did exist, so there aren't many other options other than to conclude that Bush, Blair & Howard all lied to their peoples and their governments.
The way I see it is once the two towers fell I think Bush had all the support he needed to go to war with Iraq. About the oil? They say the oil will be for the Iraq people. Yet America is paying billions a day for the Iraq war. I didn't see why we needed to go to war really. I know he killed his own people but he has been doing that for a long time and no one did anything. Maybe Bush got some bad advice or maybe he WANTED to go to war for his own pleasure. But when we hand over Iraq to their own Government to rule then they can see if their was any WMDs. Even though if their was no WMDs the Iraq people will be better off. The reason we didnt get much support was becouse most countrys that was against the war are in trade with Iraq. Russia lost or will lose billions in trade alone. As for as the Arab nations they thought we had no business there. Maybe Bush did mess up big time. Maybe he wanted to finish what his dad didnt? But the WMDs and oil will be nothing. If the Iraq cant form or run their Government once they have it now that will be the BIG mess. If they can't are we gonna have to go back for years to come?  YES!  Bush opened a big can of worms, and now its gonna take 5-15+ years to get Iraq back to normal.
I think Bush should have waited till he had more proof and more support. I don't think Bush will get a second term though. So its not just about the WMDs or oil but its about a lot of things. Things that got out of hand. The only good thing that come from the war so far was getting Saddam. Now its the Iraqs turn to do what they want. Lets just hope they don't start a holy war.
36  Theology / Debate / Re:Abortion Poll For Christians Only on: March 04, 2004, 12:20:56 AM
Oklahoma Howdy to All,

This is definitely a hot topic, one that appears to have many Christians divided on what the Holy Bible either does or does not teach.

Please, this poll is about what the Holy Bible either does or does not teach on this subject. This question is not about individual rights, rather about what the Holy Bible teaches.

Please try to give a Biblical answer to this poll and quote the Scriptures as your authority. Non-Christians are specifically excluded from this poll since they don't believe in the Holy Bible.

Please, let's have a serious attempt at letting the Holy Bible speak on this topic.

Love In Christ,
Tom

First I can think of 2 now right from memory.
1. Thou shall not kill.

and in the Old Testament if a man hurt a woman who was pregnant, if the child didnt die, the man wouldnt be killed. If the man did kill the child while killing the woman then the man should be put to death. I will have to look more to see the rest. I just wanted to send a quick post.
