57061  Theology / Apologetics / Re:to Blackeyedpeas on: September 17, 2004, 01:51:14 AM
For SS and Anduril,

A host of witnesses saw Jesus Christ walk this earth. They watched an untold number of miracles and wonders. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are all ONE - ALMIGHTY GOD. There are mountains of documents and writings, other than the Holy Bible, that record this TRUTH. In fact, our time is set by HIM (B.C., A.D.). Hosts saw Jesus Christ crucified, and many were witness to HIM walking again after HE arose from the dead.

There are thousands of Christian web sites that proclaim the Gospel of God's Grace. There is only ONE GOD - ALMIGHTY GOD - THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE. The Holy Bible is HIS WORD.

I disagree with you. I think the rest of my post was an insight into where I am in my search for understanding and why I have come to my conclusions. You deleting the entire post makes me feel like you just wish to hide my thoughts from others. Is this how Christianity works? Is the only way to spread Gods word to destroy or disregard any opposing thought? So far, with you at least, I am not having a good feeling about how your religion treats people and I've only been here 2 days.

SS,

I guess that you didn't read the forum rules. We don't make any offer or invitation to provide equal time to those opposing Christ, the Holy Bible, or Christianity. In fact, the exact opposite is very clear. The lost are most welcome here, but they are NOT given license to preach or mock the things of GOD.

Your disagreement with the forum rules means nothing to me. This is a Christian forum designed for family use, including children. Your trolling is nothing new here. However, you were somewhat original in making the analogy that the Holy Bible might be the devil's work. In terms of a pulpit you can use to mock and blaspheme God or tell us how stupid Christians are, that pulpit doesn't exist here. Brand new, and that's all you've done so far. Your choice is very simple. obey the forum rules or be gone.

Bush-Bashing Broadcaster Needs to Come Clean, Critics Say

by Bill Fancher, Rusty Pugh, and Jody Brown
September 15, 2004

(AgapePress) - Evidence is mounting that CBS News' Dan Rather used a forged document in an attempt to discredit President Bush's National Guard record. One media analyst says the network needs to take responsibility for the report -- and deal with Rather accordingly.

While other news entities such as Time magazine and the Washington Post are retracting their stories about the memo, CBS anchorman Dan Rather continues to declare the document -- which says George W. Bush did not fulfill his National Guard duties -- is factual. But several Internet investigative sources continue to claim to have found evidence that the memo was manufactured recently by supporters of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry. (See related commentary by AgapePress columnist David Sisler.)

Former Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough says Rather, a seasoned journalist, has some decisions to make. Scarborough wonders how the anchor is going to explain why he allowed a forged document to have such prominence in his broadcast in light of an earlier decision.

"They ignored the Swift Boat Veterans advertisement [questioning Kerry's Vietnam War accounts] for four days ... made them feel dirty. They wouldn't even talk about that until John Kerry brought it up himself," Scarborough observes.

Scarborough is not alone in his criticism. Congressman Chris Cox of California has called for a congressional probe of the network's use of the documents. The Republican lawmaker says there is a "growing abundance of evidence that CBS News has aided and abetted fraud."

In addition, House Majority Whip Roy Blunt of Missouri has called on CBS News to retract the story. He has asked the network to reveal the identities of those he says used CBX "to deceive [its] viewers in the final weeks of a presidential election."

Three Things
Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center is convinced CBS has an agenda -- and that the whole situation is making the network look pretty bad. CBS, he says, has still refused to acknowledge the fraud, even when its own experts proclaimed the documents to be fakes.

"This [has] CBS just tied up in a pretzel with their defense games here," Bozell says. "This is just terrible. This just goes from bad to worse."

The MRC spokesman says if CBS ever wants credibility again, it must do three things. "I think it's quite simple," he says. "Number one, not only apologize to the American people [but] first and foremost, an apology is owed to the president of the United States. This was a smear campaign on him. Number two, they have to have an investigation on this -- an independent one, not [one by] the fox guarding the henhouse."

The third step, Bozell says, involves Dan Rather himself. The network, he says, needs to "suspend Dan Rather and everyone else involved this while they are doing this investigation because no one can believe a word Dan Rather says."

MRC Says Anti-Bush Reports Costing CBS Credibility

by Chad Groening
September 16, 2004

(AgapePress) - A Virginia-based media watchdog organization is challenging CBS to apologize to America and come clean with the public about its news reporting based on controversial documents that cast President Bush in a bad light.

Rich Noyes of the Media Research Center believes CBS has done false and misleading reporting about George W. Bush's National Guard service. He says the network has refused to acknowledge that documents it has used as sources could very well be forgeries -- although CBS news anchor Dan Rather, who first reported on the documents last week, has stated he would "like to break that story" if the documents he used to discredit the president turn out to be forged. (See earlier article)

According to Noyes, even other left-leaning media outlets are highly skeptical about the sources upon which CBS has based its reporting, and that's a problem. "When you have ABC News, the Washington Post, the LA Times, and a host of other liberally-inclined news organizations seriously questioning what CBS is doing, and CBS is standing out there all alone, it doesn't look good for CBS," he says.

The MRC is challenging CBS to admit its mistake to the public and expose the source that used what appear to some to be forged documents to cast doubt on President Bush's military service record. But Noyes suspects the network may be deliberately misleading the public.

The MRC spokesman says at first the whole episode had all the earmarks of "a campaign dirty trick" on both the public and on CBS. To all appearances, he says, "it looked last week like CBS was simply the tool of somebody that planted documents with them -- documents that turned out not to be true -- and they were suffering."

But for Noyes, the major network's apparent determination to stand by its reporting, despite the suspicions surrounding the source, has put the matter in a different light. He suggests that, unless the network is complicit with some liberal agenda, its actions are difficult to understand.

"Now, with the way CBS is sticking with this story through thick and thin," the media analyst says, "even as the evidence mounts and other independent investigations show that there's really nothing there except a big forgery, the fact that CBS is sticking with it is just bizarre and incredible.

Noyes adds that CBS is "damaging the credibility of a great news organization" by failing to acknowledge the questionable nature of certain sources used in its reporting on negative allegations about President Bush's military record.

What is your sect or cult or denomination or whatever you call it, of Christianity? I am curious due to what you said in your announcement that the Catholic vs Protestant war is over. What is this thing about Grace?

-SS

SS,

I belong to a church not made with human hands, the Church which is the BODY OF CHRIST. I doubt you will understand that, and I'm sure that this will give you something else to have fun with. I also attend a brick and mortar church building that has only an address for a name.

GRACE is unmerited and undeserved favor from God. The ultimate example of God's GRACE is the GIFT of Jesus Christ who died on the CROSS for you and me. Jesus Christ can fill your emptiness and rescue you from your life of sin and ultimate condemnation. You won't just physically die in your sins some day. Physical death is not the end. I realize you will also have fun with this.

Some verses on the rest for God's faithful. If they have already been posted. Perhaps they are needed again.

AMEN!!!

The precious portions of Scripture you posted and others need to be visited often and carefully. What we are actually talking about is accepting Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Saviour. Jesus Christ is our ALL. The GOOD NEWS is not about Moses or the Law. The GOOD NEWS is about the Love, Grace, and GIFT of Jesus Christ to all who will believe and ask Jesus to come into their heart as personal LORD and SAVIOUR.

I give thanks and praise to God that Jesus died for me. I give thanks that I belong to HIM, that HE is in my heart, and I rest safe and secure IN HIM for eternity.

Brother, our GREATEST GIFT AND TREASURE IS a matter of great JOY - Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Saviour Forever.

Thanks Brother Ollie.

57069  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Fear, motivates the Secret Rapture theory ? on: September 16, 2004, 03:54:22 PM
sheelanagigs,

The Apostle Paul preached what you say is a modern invention. Tribulation and Rapture were preached about over 2,000 years ago in detail. One would have to ignore most of the New Testament and numerous portions of the Old Testament to say that someone in the 1800s invented anything at all on this subject. Daniel and other portions of the Old Testament support the writing of the Apostle Paul, much like other writers in the New Testament.

Regarding "dispensation", that isn't new or invented either. It was also taught by the Apostle Paul over 2,000 years ago. The examples would be numerous, but here's one that is a most precious truth for today:

Ephesians 3:2  If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:

Casual Bible students will easily know that Paul is talking about the Dispensation of Grace, THE GOSPEL OF THE GRACE OF GOD, the GOOD NEWS! The Apostle Paul had a focus for his ministry 2,000 years ago, and everything he taught then is the most precious TRUTH for today. His focus was THE CROSS, THE GIFT of GOD, THE GRACE of GOD, THE LOVE of GOD, THE PURPOSE OF THE CROSS, AND A LIVING SAVIOUR.

2 Timothy 2:1  Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 2:2  And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

2 Timothy 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15 explains why many precious TRUTHS of the Holy Bible are unknown to many.

Slippery Slope,

Read the forum rules. The name of this area of the board does not hint or suggest that you can blaspheme or mock God here. By the way, I deleted the entire post because other parts of the post were just as bad.

I saw in a reply by the moderator "Blackeyedpeas" that people that don't quickly start agreeing with the his point of view with be banned. Is that what God teaches? You should look at them as an opportunity to enlighten them. You should only ban them if they are simply trying to cause trouble or being inflammatory, vulgar or harassing people not because their opinion or beliefs are different from yours. "Man cannot live on bread alone".

I'm just a moderator, and those are ADMIN's rules, the owner of the forum. I do agree with them 100%, and I do enforce them. This is a Christian forum. Trolls, Christians hunters, and folks who are here to disrupt or prevent our Christian fellowship are NOT welcome here. It really doesn't matter what you want to do here. It's what you will be allowed to do here as a guest on a Christian forum. It's not a matter of agreeing with my opinions, rather a matter of obeying the forum rules.

Your agreement or disagreement with the forum rules is not a matter of interest or debate. At this point, you appear to fall in the category of troll, Christian hunter, and disruptor. You will not be making analogies about the possibility of the Holy Bible being satan's work here. That post has been removed, and you can consider this to be a formal and public warning.

Oklahoma Howdy to SincereHeart,

I certainly have mixed emotions about women serving in combat, but those we have now are volunteers and their value is unquestioned. I would have many of the old fashioned ideas about women that would make some women mad at me. I taught my son to open doors for ladies, use terms of respect, and everything my dad taught me.

I really don't like the idea of women being forced into a draft, but I don't know what the future holds for America. If it became like Israel, I would think that the women of America would be a formidable force to be dealt with. We can look at history and see that women held our society together during WWII at home, but they also served all over the world. I wouldn't want to say anything at all that would discourage many of the fine young women that I met who are currently serving their country. To say that they can do the job is an understatement. However, I would prefer that women be given a choice to serve in the Military or serve at home in many other tasks that are just as important. If our schools started coming under attack, a mother with an M16 would be a fierce warrior.   Cheesy  In fact, a mother protecting her children and grandchildren would be fierce bare-handed. I'm sad to say that we might have to train those mothers and grandmothers one day and arm them. I pray this never becomes necessary.

I would vote to exclude women from a draft, but I'm positive women could and would do their part in protecting their families here at home. Those who volunteer for the Armed Services should never be underestimated. They have earned our appreciation and thanks.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Hello ForHimWebDesigns,

My web site is Tom Rightmer's Pages
http://www.sirinet.net/~blkidps/index.html

I have a menu page for graphics at:
http://www.sirinet.net/~blkidps/bibleart.html

If you have the old fashioned dial-up, be warned that the pages with graphics on them load slowly. I have all Bible Verses on the site, but I also do backgrounds, buttons, and a few other things. I'm too slow to do HTML for other people, but I'm fairly comfortable and fast with certain kinds of graphics - nothing fancy. Please feel free to take whatever you want from my site and use it. If you need something special, let me know and I'll try it. Don't worry about any links, just use them however you want.

Love In Christ,
