Luke 17:22- Jesus speaks of men looking for signs of his return.  Verse 26 speaks of how His Kingdom will come.  Jesus tells how a few chosen ones were taken out of harms way because of their righteousness.

Luke 17:26--Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man.  People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in maggiage up to the day Noah entered the ark.  Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

This fits right in with the pre-trib rapture or pre-wrath rapture or mid-trib rapture.  Call it what you will.  The next story Jesus relates the return of his kingdom to is in the 28th verse.

Luke 17:28--It was the same in the days of Lot.  People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.  But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.

Both of these stories show that God had compassion on a few choses ones and saved them from wrath by bringing them OUT OF impending destruction.  So the question is when will we be taken in relation to this tribulation hour/period.

1 Thessalonians 4:16--For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.  After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds so we will be with the Lord forever.

Call it rapture, taking up, come up hither, beem me up scotty, whatever......1 Thessalonians 5:9-For God did not appoint us (christians) to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

There are other verses that point to this subject but Jesus tells it well relating it to these two stories.  Sorry to get off the subject of Rev 4 Tongue

How dare hollywood!  It's OK to make fun of christians but woe to those who poke fun of muslims and islam.  I am tired of hollywood.  Biggest bunch of hypocrites I've ever seen.  I am boycotting them from now on.  Is this satan's revenge for the great success of Mel's Passion for the Christ?  I'm sure there are many more movies like this to follow.  Get ready for it!  Da Vinci's code is next. (sp?)  I pray that these movies are a complete failure and that God will somehow use these pieces of trash against them. May their arrogance be destroyed.  Christians must stand up for their faith.  We must speak out.  Shame on hollywood and the big budget film industry.

Thanks for all your prayers!  We still have not received the results yet.  Should get them anyday now.
God bless you all!
80  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Prayer for my wife on: June 04, 2004, 11:23:55 AM
I ask all readers to please pray for my wife as she is going to be tested today to find out if she has thyroid problems or not.  I ask the Lord to heal her body.
81  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Prayer for Hollywood on: June 04, 2004, 11:19:58 AM
I ask all readers of this to pray that all of the upcoming movies that mock christianity and Jesus and the church will be nothing short of a waste of film.  I pray that Hollywood may open its eyes and see the truth.  As christians we are not to sit back and just let them roll over us like this and not defend our position.  What kind of example would that be to unbelievers?

Has anyone seen this movie?  Is it worth sitting through or is it a Hollywood production? Cheesy

Allegory: An expressive style that uses fictional characters and events to describe some subject by suggestive resemblances; an extended metaphor

I think it is describing or showing love between two people(man and woman).

I think you missed the point, Aiki: the book describes (as indicated in my previous post) the relationship between a bridegroom (man) and his betrothed (woman) and is USED as an allegory of the relationship between Christ and his church. The passages do indeed describe human love.

There are some wonderfully beautiful descriptions in that book.

Yes I also agree that the passages are written and used to describe the love that is intended to be shared between a man and a woman that have been brought together before God.  I do not believe that it was written as an allegory however.  I can see parts of it that fit but there are just too many that don't feel like the description of a loving relationship between me and the Lord.  There are many other ways to describe it.  Just my opinion though. If the Song of Solomon is inspired Scripture - twisted thoughts? perhaps you could elaborate.

Also, after reading Luke 17 - I think I am missing your point - could you give us a little more detail as to what direction this is all heading  Wink

Thanx and shalom,  MalkyEL   Cool

I don't believe that this book is describing Jesus's love for the church.  I think it is describing or showing love between two people(man and woman).  I see many passages in this book that are sexual in nature and I don't think God would express His love to us this way.  I also think that new christians may get confused by this if they are told that it is symbloic of Jesus's love for the church.
That is why I don't think it is symbolic.
I do believe that Godly marriage is a reflection of Jesus's love for the church however.
Luke 17 deals with warnings about leading little ones/new christians astray and causing them to sin.

song of solomon?
Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary says this about the book:

Song of Solomon -
This book is a Divine allegory, which represents the love between Christ and his church of true believers, under figures taken from the relation and affection that subsist between a bridegroom and his espoused bride; an emblem often employed in Scripture, as describing the nearest, firmest, and most sure relation

Sorry to get off the subject

Saw the flick.  Speacial effects are a dandy!  However I felt as though I was being preached to and talked down to because I happen to use a car to get from here to there.  They made it clear that it was our fault and that the same type of storm or whether changes/ice age happened 10,000 years ago.  Obviously the question comes--I wonder what type of gas mileage the SUV's got back then?---- Wink

Other than that it was a pretty good story with some great special effects.  When I saw the previews for it way back when, it looked as though it was going to deal with biblical prophecy.  Especially with the hailstones!

But for anyone out there who has not seen it yet I would wait for it to come out on DVD.

If he is falsely accused shame on her and him for having an affair.

If he is guiltly shame on him and put him away for rape.

89  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:When God Speaks To You? on: June 01, 2004, 02:47:26 PM
Lately I believe God has been speaking to me by watching events by my own eyes.  One example of this was about a month ago when I was always in a rush and almost overwhelmed that I would not get all the things I needed to get done taken care of.  Not really a matter of life or death but I felt as though God was speaking to me as I was driving rather fast down the road.  I saw a bird up the road that wanted to cross.  Instead of flying over, it simply walked or hopped across the road.  It was oblivious to the numerous cars that nearly hit it.  Right after this happend I immediately found it odd and that it may have been a sign.  I imagined that bird being me and all of the dangers and worries in my life at that time representing the speeding cars.  I took the advice because I believed it was part of His will and it turned out that everything worked out very well.  Anyone else out there experienced this type of communication from the Holy Spirit?
90  Entertainment / Politics and Political Issues / Re:NEVER WERE ANY WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION IN IRAQ on: June 01, 2004, 02:21:50 PM
The evil dictator needed to be removed because he had not cooperated with the united nations for 10+years.  Being shortly after 911 the President thought it was in our best interest to attack the terrorists and keep them on the move so they would be off the offensive.  It is a fact that he killed thousands upon thousands of his own people in prisons as well as using chemical agents.  This includes children.  Our goverment was concerned that he may supply terrorists with weapons that may be used against the US, Israel, etc.  The evidence will show up some day.  As you should know Iraq has many places to hide weaponry.  And Sadam had plently of time before the war to hide it.  In fact, he probably began right after 911.  Or it is in the hands of terrorists through Syria and has been distributed throughout the terror networks and is ready to be used.  Bush had 2 choices: sit back and let the terrorists continue to attack and kill at will, or do something and go after the evildoers by force.  Because you cant reason and negotiate with insane killers.  That is what we are dealing with.  So the US had reason to remove the evil dictator and begin the search and liberate the people.  I believe the WMD will be found.  I pray that they are found before they are used on us or anyone else.
