Hmmmm ...... How much wood could a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood? The expert didn't help so it's time to bring out the reference books. The reference book didn't help either but it did say not to ask a woodchuck that question because of the dire results.

ROFL! I wouldn't have asked this question if I had known that every woodchuck in the country would be after me with baseball bats. The irony is that book probably contains the correct answer.

Modern internet technology has advanced to the point that we can reliably monitor the amount a woodchuck chucks in real time. The results of this monitoring are shown below. Please note that the numbers vary due to the dispositions of the woodchucks involved. Attention: Woodchucks don't chuck unless you use Firefox as your browser.... Microsoft Internet Explorer scares them. Average amount of wood a woodchuck would chuck in a given day 858 butt cords of wood. Median amount of wood a woodchuck could chuck in a given hour 657 butt cords of wood. Record high for woodchuck wood chucking of 6625 butt cords was attained on 6-15-1996. (NOTE: the above tabulations take into account that woodchuks chuck no wood on February second, in observance of ground hog day.) As much wood As a woodchuck would, if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

Hello Islandboy, Other than being chased by mad woodchucks with baseball bats, I've had fun with this question. Trust me - there is a correct and quite logical answer. (Small Print: And I'm not from the government saying "trust me"). A woodchuck not having anything to do with wood might mean that you're on the right track to getting part of the answer. And YES - it's a tongue twister, especially if you ask the question and give the answer at the same time.

I know the answer and it is hidden in my last post but I've had to much fun with this by not giving the answer.

I just heard her singing:
She sells Empty sea shells Lost in the ocean
Through the window We can see Sand and biscuits Cups of coffee
Haven't slept a wink I walk the floor from nine to four In between I drink Black coffee

YEAH! - We have a winner. It does become a matter of how much wood WOULD a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck WOULD chuck wood. This makes the answer correct and logical since most woodchucks WOULDN'T chuck wood. So, here it is all together: How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
A woodchuck would chuck all the wood that a woodchuck would chuck if a woodchuck would chuck wood. Now, try saying that all at once quickly and see what happens. It even has a nice ring to it with could, would, wood. By the way, "Why does she sell seashells by the seashore?"
