In the past my brother and his bride of 4 years have been alternating Thanksgiving and Christmas between our family and her family.  This year was scheduled for Christmas with us and now we have found out they will be with her family for both holidays this year.  We all love the Lord and when I asked my brother what was going on he got nasty with me for inquiring as to if this would be the norm.  My family all live close and her family is 3 hours away.  They just had thier first baby and my heart hurts with the seperation I see going on.  I'm trying to give this all to Him and let Him handle things but then the evil one brings anger to me about the situation and so I pray and pray and pray until the ick is gone.  My wonderful husband says I should just let the holiday thing go and focus on getting together the other 363 days to build relationship.  I don't exactly know why I'm putting this out here for the world to read except for the feeling that this happens to many families.  Looking for scripture or advise to help ease my heart.

I can keep going because of Him,

sad sister

Hello Workin4Him,

WELCOME!!

I sincerely hope that you enjoy the forum.

You might not like what I have to say, but here goes anyway. For the circumstances, I think that your husband already gave you an excellent answer for this.

If you were the one who was three hours away, how would you feel? This might be top secret, but there are also special times between a daughter and her mother after the birth of a baby, ESPECIALLY the first baby. Don't ask me exactly what it is because I don't know. I'm a father of two and a grandfather of two, and I was told nicely to butt out during these times.  :D  BUT, just the time and distance situation should be more than worthy of some consideration and understanding.

Love in Christ,
Tom

Romans 10:8-10 NASB  But what does it say? "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART"--that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

Hi Workin4Him,

I, too, must agree with your husband. If you live close as you say then there is no reason that you shouldn't work on building a relationship throughout the year. It is difficult to do so when one lives 3 hrs away and makes it easier to visit that far away only on holidays.
