Fresh from its victory of intimidating ABC into firing conservative talk-show host Michael Graham for his politically-incorrect and [it said] "racist" comment "Islam is a terrorist organization", CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) has set its sights on one of the 9/11 Memorials--and has also and again taken aim at Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO).
Tancredo had originally had the daring (in today's utra-PC atmosphere, I call it courage) to suggest that if Islam effected a nuclear terrorist attack on the U.S., we could 'take out their holy sites'. Apparently, CAIR and other Muslims were "incensed" by this statement and called upon President Bush to rebuke him. Note: Tancredo's comment seemed perfectly reasonable to me. If one is attacked, one should retaliate. However, Tancredo is one of the few Republican men left in Congress who still has his testosterone intact.
Now CAIR is again pretending fury with Tancredo for daring to comment unfavorably on the proposed 9/11 "memorial" to the passengers of Flight 93--the hijacked plane brought down in a Pennsylvania field by its valiant passengers before it could hit its target. The mile-long "memorial", designed by Los Angeles architect Paul Murdoch and approved by Joanne Hanley of the National Park Service Memorial Project, is called the "Crescent of Embrace".
That's the Islamic crescent, folks. So, rather than being a tribute to those who lost their lives saving other Americans, this "memorial" is a tribute to the terrorists! Using the Islamic crescent? What are Murdoch and Hanley thinking? Have we gone so far down the dark and dingy PC road that we now honor those who kill us and have vowed to destroy our citizens and our country? It appears that we have. It also appears that when our enemies tell us to jump, we no longer resist--we just meekly ask the cliché question "how high"?
The 9/11 Memorial in New York is already being hijacked by those who oppose a memorial to those who died in the Twin Towers, and are defiantly demanding that it be a memorial to the 'crimes and insensitivities committed by the United States and other countries of the world'. So, now the leftist-contingents have taken over the New York 9/11 Memorial project, while the terrorist delegation claims Pennsylvania. And CAIR, having learned its lessons from the Democrat Party, is using the race card.
CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad said "Representative Tancredo once again demonstrates his anti-Muslim bias and his thirst for publicity" and has, once again, called upon President Bush to repudiate Rep. Tancredo's "Islamophobic comments". It would seem that our enemies and their representatives have learned all too well how readily many Americans would rather die at their hands than be labeled "politically incorrect". This is, of course, insane. But this PC insanity, promulgated by the left, still seems to be on the rise.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't want to live in a Muslim state. The United States has traditionally been a safe-haven for those who want to practice their religious beliefs, or no religious belief at all. The freedom to practice one's religion is protected by the First Amendment to our U.S. Constitution. That is a good thing. However, until PC-Madness infected our society, we were not forced to honor our enemies, let alone build a memorial to them.
Personally, I am most infuriated with our National Park Service. This is a Federal Government organization and our tax dollars fund it. Hanley is its representative, and she's the one who has approved the Islamic Crescent Memorial to the terrorists. CAIR is only practicing what it has learned from the ACLU and the other leftists amongst us--how to play the race card and play it well. CAIR has become skilled at and seems to be winning this game.
