Over the past few days I have been unable to reply to most of the Antipas emails I have received.  Please forgive my lack of reply during this time.  I have been unable to do so based upon my energies being focused on the matter of the destruction Hurricane Katrina has visited upon the states of Mississippi and Louisiana.

I am originally from Mississippi and have lived in Louisiana as well.  Before joining up with Antipas Ministries on a full-time basis in 2000 I lived on the Mississippi Coast in North Biloxi, along with a large portion of my family members.  The majority of my family still lives on the Mississippi Coast in Biloxi, Gulfport, Ocean Springs, and other communities in the area.  As expected the last few days have been horrific as I have spent them trying to contact family in the path of the storm with an eye on the news relating its destruction to the world.  Not until around 1 AM this morning was the last member of my family on the coast accounted for.  I praise the Lord they all have survived.  Some have suffered damage to their homes, but at this point the most important thing is that none of my family members have perished in this ordeal.  Yet I have many friends in Mississippi and Louisiana of whom I have no idea as to their status.  I am not speaking of mere acquaintances, but instead of close family friends, college roommates, and others who are near and dear to my heart.

As I sit here and write this journal reports of the carnage left in the wake of Hurricane Katrina continue to come in.  Deaths in New Orleans could be in the thousands according to its Mayor and the Mississippi Coast from Waveland to Pascagoula literally looks as if a nuclear bomb was exploded along the coastline.  There too the expectation is for the death toll to be extremely high.  News sources are indicating it could literally be months before electrical power is restored to New Orleans and prospects for many parts of the Mississippi Coast are not much better.

There can be no doubt the destruction Hurricane Katrina has wrought is of Biblical proportion.  Just as the Tsunami of last year caused destruction on an epic level throughout Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, and other nations; so too has this hurricane visited an indescribable amount of destruction upon a concentrated area within the United States.

Yet the effects of the storm are not destined to be limited to that region only, but are instead going to be felt throughout the US and the world.  Offshore drilling platforms in the northern Gulf of Mexico are one of the largest sources of domestic oil production for the US.  New Orleans and the surrounding area also possess the refineries responsible for providing at least 25% of the petroleum products used within the United States.  Katrina has shattered production from these sources for the foreseeable future.

A situation is fast developing where hundreds of thousands of US citizens are to be homeless refugees and the potential for the outbreak of diseases related to flooding and the lack of sanitation systems is very, very real.  Looters are rampaging in New Orleans and even the normally genteel Mississippi Coast has seen lawlessness on a large scale.  In response increasing numbers of National Guard troops are being called in to assist devastated police forces and the Department of Defense has indicated plans are in place to provide active duty regular army troops for assistance in law enforcement should the use of National Guard units not be enough to restore order.

This is shaping up to be the most costly natural disaster in US history.  It is also shaping up to be one of the most devastating in terms of deaths and displacement of citizens.  This brings us to the question of the hour insofar as God’s prophetic word is concerned.  What are the prophetic ramifications of this ongoing tragedy?    In what ways will this tragedy move us closer to the coming events of Daniel’s Seventieth Week?

Will the military presence needed to restore order bring us closer to a total police state within the US?  Will the effects on the oil industry force the US to accelerate its plans to remake the Middle East? Or will rising gasoline prices and potential shortages cause the US economy to further unraveled?  Will this catastrophe bring about some kind of public works program to rebuild devastated areas as rapidly as possible?  What role will the American Church play in these matters?

All of these questions are very significant in their relation to the direction of prophecy.  When answered the prophetic picture will become much clearer indeed.  At this point specific answers are not yet available.  However there are some observations to be made even at this early date.

One thing other than lives and property, which Hurricane Katrina has destroyed, is the momentum the antiwar crowd in the US had gained over the past few weeks.  Millions of Americans who were beginning to listen to voices like that of Cindy Sheehan’s are now completely focused on the situation created by Hurricane Katrina.  Most Americans probably don’t even know what is going on in Iraq at the moment.  They have no idea that violence has escalated in the past few days, that there is a severe crisis over the US controlled constitutional process taking place, and that the war continues to rage on throughout that nation.

While the average American has lost interest in Iraq over the past few days, this does not mean the Elites have.  Their plans for Iraq, Iran, and the remainder of the Middle East have not changed.  As recently as last Friday it seemed there was a thrust within the antiwar movement, which was finally reaching out to the average American.  Hurricane Katrina has squelched that.  Whether or not it can be regained I do not know for sure, but am not all that confident of it ever happening.

Another observation to be made is the effect all this will have on the eventual necessity for a military draft.  If thousands of National Guard troops are to be used in the process of recovering from the hurricane how does the absence of their availability for service in Iraq (or Iran) influence the need for a draft?

Also, is a precedent being established in the use of troops on the scale anticipated on the US gulf coast?  Already the term martial law has been used several times on the news in relation to New Orleans and the Mississippi coast.  Already there is a yearning of sorts for troops to be used to bring order to these areas as rapidly as possible.  Does this set a precedent for future catastrophes within the US, whether they are of a natural or terrorist origin?  It is possible that a framework for the final emergence of the police state could result from all of this.

I am also curious as to how this tragedy will affect the US housing market.  I saw a piece of information on the CNN “ticker” today that was somewhat interesting.  It seems the number of mortgage applications throughout the US for the month of August was down for the second straight month.  The fall has come even as interest rates have seen a further reduction from rates, which are lower than at any time in modern US history.  What this means is that fewer people are attempting to purchase or refinance homes.  If this environment continues will the “housing bubble” burst?  The basic premise of the law of supply and demand would indicate this to be the case.  Will the billions needed to rebuild after Katrina serve to keep the housing bubble inflated for a little bit longer or will the overall economic losses increase the speed with which the bubble is deflated?

From a spiritual standpoint I have not seen anything thus far, which leads me to believe this catastrophe is going to pull the American Church away from the apostate direction it is headed.  On the contrary it is highly likely that the worst elements of the American Church will be exacerbated.  Rather than calling for repentance and humility the Church will most likely rally around pride and patriotism.  Instead of using this event as a catalyst for leaving the ranks of the rich and powerful to minister in full to the weak and suffering; the Church in the US will instead probably paint this tragedy as being God’s judgment upon the wicked (unsaved) in New Orleans and the Mississippi Coast.  In doing so they will fail to see that judgment always begins in the house of God and as such if this was a judgment from Him… then it was in response to their sins… and not those of the lost whom they are called to minister to.

At this point most of my thoughts are still directed towards those suffering from Hurricane Katrina.  My prayers are not just for those I know and love personally, but all who have been touched by this disaster.  Yet time stops for no man.  The events of prophecy are to be fulfilled at the appointed time no matter how much we wish to halt their procession.  It bodes well for everyone to consider how our world has changed.  It bodes well for everyone to intently watch the signs occurring around them.  The call for the Church to testify becomes more important during times such as these.

After all, these are just the beginnings of the sorrows.  We have not yet reached the crescendo, which is to come.  So as we pray for those who are hurting and in need let us also bear the testimony Christ has given us.  As we watch and listen to those things occurring close to home let us also be aware of all that is happening around us.  The wise virgins in Matthew 25 had enough oil in their lamps to make it all the way through the night.  They were prepared for the darkness that stood between them and the coming of the Bridegroom.  It is also my prayer that we be found as such.

I am scared...really scared! As I read the reports on the internet regarding HURRICANE KATRINA and the overwhelming devastation wrought, Yahveh brought to remembrance the prophecy I heard in 1979 in BETH MESSIAH MESSIANIC
SYNAGOGUE (Dan Juster's) in the Washington DC area. Here it is:
 

"Thus saith the Lord..IN THE DAY that AMERICA FORSAKES ISRAEL, that is when I WILL BEGIN TO POUR OUT MY WRATH...WRATH which America so richly deserves, but WHICH I HAVE HELD BACK BECAUSE OF AMERICA'S SUPPORT OF ISRAEL. THUS SAITH THE LORD!"

The Holy Spirit locked this word of prophetic warning in my mind from that day on. I have never forgotten it. And in fact, I PRAYED from that day on, "Oh, Lord, do NOT let America be turned against Israel! Do NOT let America work against Israel!"

The Father began to quicken to me the fact that , SINCE AMERICA BROKERED THIS FALSE "PEACE ACCORD" IN ISRAEL AND THE GAZA PULLOUT, hence FAILING to support Israel and causing her to lose land for which good Israeli blood was shed previously to attain, JUDGMENT WAS SURELY GOING TO FOLLOW IN IT'S WAKE!

Dear Friends –

March and April 1997, saw the great Terrorist leader of the PLO,
Yasser Arafat, go on tour in America. During that Arafat tour of
America, Clinton rebuked Israel for not giving away her land for
peace. In this SAME time period America saw some of the worst
tornadoes and flooding in US history. The same day that Arafat
landed in America tornadoes devastated huge sections of the nation,
ripping across Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Kentucky and Tennessee.
That time frame saw over 300 serious tornadoes rip America.

January 21, 1998, was the meeting of Netanyahu with President
Clinton at the White House. Netanyahu was given a cold reception by  
Clinton and Secretary of State Albright, who even refuse to have
lunch with him. Yes, that is the very day upon which the Monica
Lewinsky scandal breaks into the mass media.

September 28, 1998, is when Clinton's Secretary of State completed
the details of an agreement in which Israel will give up 13 percent
of Gaza, Judea and Samaria. The same day Hurricane George hit the
Gulf Coast with 110 mph winds and gusts up to 175. Yes, it was the
very same time that Clinton met with Ararat and Netanyahu at the
White House to finalize the land for peace deal, now known as the
Road Map from Hell. That is the same time when Arafat addressed the
United Nations about declaring an independent Palestinian state by
May 1999. It is interesting to note that at the exact time that
Arafat was leaving the US, is when Hurricane George began to
dissipate after causing 1 billion in damage.

October 15-22, 1998 is when Yasser Arafat and Benjamin Netanyahu met
at the Wye River Plantation in Maryland. The talks are scheduled to
last five days with the focus being Israel agreeing to give up 13
percent of Yesha. The talks are extended and conclude on October 23.
On October 17 on through the 22nd unprecedented rains and tornadoes
hit southern Texas. The rain and flooding in Texas effected over 25%
of that huge state and again caused over a billion dollars in
damage. One of our good personal friends was drowned in those
floods.

May 3, 1999 was the day that Yasser Arafat was scheduled to declare
a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as the capital. Arafat at the
request of President Clinton postponed the declaration. Clinton's
letter praised the PLO terrorist leader, and father of airline
hijacking, for his "aspirations for his own land", and also wrote
that the Palestinians have a right to "determine their own future on
their own land," and that they deserve to "live free, today,
tomorrow and forever." That very same day the most powerful tornado
storm system ever to hit the United States began moving across
Oklahoma and Kansas. The winds were clocked at 316 mph the highest
tornado wind velocities ever recorded.

June 5-11, 2001, President George W. Bush sent CIA director George
Tenet to Israel to try to broker a cease-fire between the Israelis
and the Palestinians. The antichrist Road Map from Hell insists that
Israel stop building in the Mountains of Israel. At exactly the same
time on June 8-9, one of the greatest rainfalls in the history of
the United States occurs in Texas. In a 24 hour period, over 28
inches of rain falls in the Houston area. The nightly news reported
the flooding and the meetings in Israel together! Three feet of rain
fell on the area between June 5 and 11. The 5 billion dollars worth
of destruction in Houston was catastrophic. Houston was just one of
the 28 counties being declared a federal disaster area from that
flooding.

Now we come to the whirlwind of Katrina. We should be able to hear
the pleadings of God. We should know that the FORCING of the
Forsaking of Gaza got an answer from God. No one can deny that God
allowed this whirlwind. And the PLEADINGS of God better be heard.
NO, I WILL NOT STOP CALLING BUSH TO HALT THE ROAD MAP FROM HELL.
Every day that Bush does NOT cross that line which God has drawn
with the Forsaking of Gaza, is another day in which we may proclaim
that God IS Love, that Jesus Christ IS Come in the flesh, that some
sinner may find His grace in repentance, that some Muslim may
receive the Gospel of Love and be set free from Lucifer's moon god
religion of hate vengeance and killing.

Yes, Bush is God's anointed according to Romans 1:18, and we should
pray for him. We MUST respect his God ordained position. Anyone can
say they are a Christian and be a freemason. But you can NOT BE a
Christian and be a freemason. You can NOT be a Christian and be a
Skull & Bonesman. You can NOT be a Christian and say you believe the
moon god of Islam is the same as the God of the Jews and Christians.
You can NOT be a Christian and FORCE the Forsaking of Gaza. You can
NOT be a Christian and just let those poor people die. We should
pray that President Bush understand the meaning that in just seven
days from conclusion of his FORCING the forsaking of Gaza, brought
the whirlwind of Katrina. God has long drawn a line 2600 years ago,
regarding this antichrist Road Map from Hell by the Bush-Clinton-
Bush syndicate of Sudden Destruction.

I pray for me, and you, and every saint to hear the PLEADING of God.
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but NOW COMMANDETH
ALL MEN EVERY WHERE TO REPENT: Because he hath appointed a day, in
the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom
he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in
that he hath raised him from the dead.
 
Bush can hasten or delay THAT DAY with how fast he FORCES the next
step of the Road Map from Hell. God's people must NOW have ears to
hear this truth. Katrina is an expression of the PLEADING of God to
His people, and part of the judgment upon a nation. This Katrina
whirlwind should be recognized as the pleading from the personal God
who IS love, calling for PERSONAL REPENTANCE. Though it is a
mournful thing to say that it is too late for National Repentance in
America, that does appear to be the truth. We should pray for
personal repentance, and that Bush in particular, might be able to
find God's grace in personal repentance. There are things which have
been done in secret, which need personal repentance. God knows those
things as well as God knows all of those poor people being left to
die in New Orleans. We all better pray for the Peace in Jerusalem
and that Bush does NOT take that next step in the Road Map from
Hell. All of us would be well advised to be ready to have our
saddles shipped home if he does.
 
However, with the lust for oil to fuel comfort machines, and fuel
industry, and to fuel the war machinery, it is not likely that
either Bush, or the vast majority of those calling themselves
Christians, will have ears to hear. We are so deeply steeped in our
feigned affection and religious do gooding. The lust for the
benefits of oil, will most likely accelerate the sacrificing of
Israel to the Muslim moon god of the Arabs holding the oil so
desired by the nations who have all become MAD on this earth today.
The next step of the Road Map from Hell will cause the FURY of God
Almighty to come up in His face, and for the Lord Jesus Christ to DO
His STRANGE and quick work in which He will tread the winepress of
the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. ONLY He who now lets will
let UNTIL.....

Yes or no? Does homeland security include levee construction and
maintenance? Levee construction and maintenance funding was stopped
by the administration of Sudden Destruction in order to fund the war
on terror. Homeland security should be more than protecting the
government from the fear of the governed. All human beings, no

Blames disaster on Bush's support of Jewish withdrawal

JERUSALEM – Hurricane Katrina, which some say bears striking similarities to recent events in Israel, was punishment from God for President Bush's support of the evacuation of Jews from the Gaza Strip, a senior Israeli rabbi announced.

""It was God's retribution – God does not short-change anyone," said Shas spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef during his weekly sermon.

Shas is the largest Orthodox Jewish political party in Israel.

"[Bush] perpetrated the expulsion [of Jews from Gaza]," Yosef said. "Now everyone is mad at him. This is his punishment for what he did to Gush Katif, and everyone else who did as he told them, their time will come, too."

One week before Katrina made landfall, Israel carried out the evacuation of 9,500 residents from Gaza's Gush Katif slate of Jewish neighborhoods and four Samaria communities. Residents were forced from their homes by Israeli troops, some dragged away kicking and screaming and placed on buses that took them from the area. The majority of former Katif residents are homeless while the Israeli government struggles to find permanent housing solutions.

The Gaza withdrawal was backed by the U.S. government. Some Middle East analysts and senior Israeli politicians entirely attributed the evacuation plan to pressure coming from the American establishment.

Several Israeli leaders blasted Yosef's comments. Knesset Member Ronnie Brizon of the leftist Shinui party said, "What, God is cross-eyed? He metes out punishments at the wrong place? We're sick and tired of Rabbi Ovadia's primitive worldview. He already did his part; he can remove himself from public life."

Yosef is no stranger to controversy. He recently declared God would strike dead "the evil one" responsible for the Gaza evacuation, referring to Sharon. He also once called on the Israeli army to "joyfully" annihilate Arabs with rockets, and prompted calls for his resignation in 2000 when he stated the 6 million Jews killed in the Holocaust died because they were reincarnations of sinners in previous generations.

But Yosef is not alone in highlighting what some are calling eerie similarities between Katrina and the evacuation of Gush Katif.

As WND reported, parallels in the two events' repercussions, names and numbers have started a firestorm of speculation on the Internet and even in some synagogues. Similarities pointed out include:

Close to 10,000 Jews were expelled from their homes in the Gaza Strip and parts of northern Samaria. Katrina's death toll is now expected to reach at least 10,000.

America's population ratio to Israel is about 50:1. Ten thousand Jews who lost their Gaza homes is the equivalent of about 500,000 Americans who are now reported to be displaced as result of Katrina.

Gaza's Jewish communities were located in Israel's southern coastal region; America's southern coastal region now lies in ruins.

The U.S. government called on Louisiana residents to evacuate their homes ahead of the storm. The Israeli government, backed by statements from U.S. officials, demanded Gaza residents evacuate their homes.

Katrina, written in Hebrew, has a numerical equivalent of 374, according to a biblical numbering system upheld by all traditional Jewish authorities. Two relevant passages in the Torah share the exact numerical equivalent: "They have done you evil" (Gen. 50:17) and "The sea upon land" (Exodus 14:15).

Bush, from Texas, and Rice, from Alabama, were the most vocal U.S. backers of the Gaza evacuation. Hurricane Katrina hit the states in between Texas and Alabama – Louisiana and Mississippi.

Similarity in scenes: Many residents of Jewish Gaza climbed to their rooftops to escape the threat of expulsion, while residents of the Gulf Coast climbed on their own rooftops to protect themselves from the rising waters. Jewish Gaza homes described as beautiful and charming were demolished this week by Israel's military. Once beautiful homes in New Orleans now lie in ruins.

The day Katrina hit, Israel began carrying out what was termed the most controversial aspect of the Gaza withdrawal – the uprooting of bodies from the area's Jewish cemetery. There have been media reports of corpses floating around in flooded New Orleans regions.

Citizens of Israel were barred from entering Gush Katif; people were only allowed to leave Jewish Gaza. As Katrina was making landfall U.S. authorities barred citizens from entering the affected areas. People were only allowed out.

Gush Katif was an important agricultural area for Israel, providing the Jewish state with 70 percent of its produce. A New Orleans port that exported much of the Midwest's agricultural production was destroyed by Katrina.

In a Jerusalem Newswire op-ed discussing the similarities just before Katrina made landfall, writer Stan Goodenough commented, "Is this some sort of bizarre coincidence? Not for those who believe in the God of the Bible and the immutability of His Word. What America is about to experience is the lifting of God's hand of protection, the implementation of His judgment on the nation most responsible for endangering the land and people of Israel.

"While the 'disengagement' plan was purportedly the brainchild of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the U.S. has for more than a decade been the chief sponsor and propeller of a diplomatic process that has dangerously weakened Israel in the face of an overwhelming, growing threat to annihilate her. ... Can't you see the link, America? Won't you see the link?"

Another Newswire piece quoted a Christian Louisiana resident in Katrina's direct path as stating, "[The hurricane is] a direct 'coming back on us' [for] what we did to Israel: a home for a home."

A blog on TheRaphi.com by Mideast pundits Paul Eidelberg and Israel Hanukoglu linking Katrina to the Gaza evacuation warned, "We urge the American people to remind their president that the evil the nations do to Israel always strikes them. Pharaoh, Haman, Hitler and all the leaders of nations that have opposed the will of God for His people have perished or ended on the ash heaps of history."

Billye Brim, a Christian prayer leader and founder of Billye Brim Ministries who had visited Gush Katif weeks before its evacuation, noted on her website: "Is there a connection between [Katrina and Gush Katif]? I believe so. Is this judgment? I believe so. And I must say it. Outright! Many won't like to hear it. Many won't agree. But I believe America is in danger and something has to be done. ... America needs to repent. From Bush, Rice and the State Department on down. America must repent for actively opposing God's plan for Israel as revealed in His Word."

WorldNetDaily the past week has received numerous letters from readers urging a Katrina-Gaza connection.

One letter stated, " I think you all are dancing around the real cause of the hurricane. Let me suggest to you that it is the wrath of God on our nation because President Bush pressured Sharon to take the homes from the Jews. ... I knew we would be punished on a large scale. I faxed letters and contacted Bush every way I could begging him not to go forward with that plan to evacuate Gaza but he did so anyway, and as a result we were hit in a week with a hurricane that will make history."

Perhaps the first to publicly connect Katrina to the Gaza evacuation was famed Israeli conspiracy theorist Barry Chamish, who sent a mass e-mail noting, "GUsh is like GUlf, and KATif is like KATrina. If you take 'KAT' from KATif and KATrina, you are left with 'IF' and 'RAIN.' If you support Gush Katif evacuation, it will rain."

Chamish told WND yesterday: "Simple human beings cannot fully understand what is going on, but the events certainly must be connected. It's statistically impossible to have two such great natural disasters like the recent tsunami in Asia and Katrina right after each other. This is the hand of God. He is saying something."

Jerusalem Kabbalist Rabbi David Batzri also drew the parallel: "Divine retribution is meted out according to the principle of 'measure for measure,' just as the Jews were forced out of their homes as a result of U.S. pressure on Israel, so too are Americans being forced out of their homes."

If all this is true why did God not really hit home with the message and go for Washington DC instead of New Orleans or go for the Islamics that are against Israel themselves. Everyone wants to give a reason for why such a disaster hit America. Blame it on the events in Israel, blame it on the evil casinos in Mississippi, blame it on the evil gathering that was held in the area just one week before the hurricane hit, blame it on the evil parties held in New Orleans each year. The truth is no one knows why this happened except for God.


I must agree with a statement that Ollie made on another thread:

There are many good Christians in the storm struck areas that are suffering. Did God bring His wrath down on them also?

This is no different than the political blame games played while people were still stranded, dying and in bad need of help. Cyndi Sheehan saying it is Bushs fault for his environmental policies. The Mayor of LA saying it is Bushs fault. Black leaders making it a racial thing. Democrats blaming the Republicans. Point a finger and say it is your fault this happened instead of doing something about the situation.

We should all be doing something about this. We should be wearing out our knees asking God for His mercy. We should be praying for these poor people who are suffering. We should be praying for the salvation of those that are not saved, doing all we can to lead them to the Lord. We should be giving all that we can in material goods and money until it hurts. If we are able to do so we should be taking action, volunteering our time, to help these poor people instead of pointing fingers and playing blame games.

I also am praying that God softens the hearts of those that want to blame others for this instead of doing the right thing.
