Are divorced people allowed to teach classes or hold any type of position in church?

Scripturally yes, - there is absolutely no verse that says or implies they cannot.  But ultimate descision should be left up to the local church.  

But...if you have a person who has been divorced several times and makes a habit of this then one should show some discernment regarding leadership positions.

I don’t think there should be a blanket to cover all divorced people who wish to be in leadership. The bible makes it VERY clear the only good reason for divorce (that is infidelity). I think we have to take each situation and look at it separately, look at things like WHO of the two actually did the divorce, why they wanted a divorce, and how they handled the divorce. All three of these things are not only good signs of how a person is a spouse, but also how good they will be as leaders. If they can’t keep there wife, can they be trusted to care for the bride of Christ? These are all questions that have should be asked by your leadership before counting anyone in or out who has been divorced. If there are too many divorces among the clergy of your group that you don’t have time to go over each one individually, then divorced leadership may be the LEAST of your worries!
