Over the holidays my mother said some really harsh words to me and my two sons.   My family and I are very hurt by her actions and words.  She is mormon but does not talk like a christian.  My sisters and their children witnessed the argument and are also upset with our mother/grandmother.  She now continues to write "poison pen" letters to my sisters saying terrible stuff about me and my family. Are there any suggestions for scriptures and prayers that will help my family to persevere through this?  I am the 6th child of 8.Our family while growing up was very disfunctional. My husband and I have been married happily for 16 years and have two boys 15 & 12. We just found out we are expecting another baby last week - God is full of surprises! We homeschool our boys and are searching for the church that feels right for us.  We are very hungry for the gospel and have had some hardships the past two years that have brought us to GOD.  My husband was found to have FAP and had his colon removed to prevent cancer .  A year later he developed a desmoid tumor that is the size of a football in his abdomen and is inoperable.  The spring of 2004 he was in the hospital for two months and almost died. I guess I struggle that mom can do this after all that we have been through.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

And welcome to the forum *smiles*.

I am far from an expert on prayers and the bible. I am sure other people will be able to help you a lot better with that. But I did want to leave a post for you and say I am sorry to read what you and your family have been through. And to not give up hope.

I have had many problems with my mother as well. I had real trouble with that, then decided the best I could do was forgive her and realise we all do not so nice things and say things that hurt others. We are all human, after all. Have you tried talk to her and ask her why she said that and is doing this? That may not be easy, but it might help.

I personally think that any prayer to God will be a good one. But as said, I am not an expert.

Hang in there *smiles* you will be in my prayers.

hi, not sure your still comeing on the sight but, its very hard when others hurt us or dont act the way we like them to. and its ashame that they do, but you can do little to change this/or them. but what you can do is change your-self as long as you dont stoop to others you will feel ok about you . you cant control them but you can control you s. so do what you need to so they dont hurt you or your children anymore does this mean let them know how you feel? or not putting yourself in sertian settings were these people treat you poorley? what im saying make sure you your husband and children are true to yourselfs and god it will work out but not how you are trying to make it work, for you have no controll over others.                     may christ be with you
