We all know the song “The Devil went down to Georgia.” The question is, if that was you, and the Devil challenged you to a contest in whatever you are good at, you would you take him on? And what you be that thing he challenged you to?

I have a feeling the devil could beat me in anything I tried to do "better" than him. After all, he's the prince of the air and of this world, our most fearsome foe. So I guess I would agree with NateyCakes.

Thats easy, ask him to challenge you to a praying match, or a praising God match  Grin

Do any of you know that old story about the devil and the walnuts?

The devil was bored, and decided to try to entice a woman coming home from market and make her open walnuts for him (as you do, folk stories are strange) by handing her one with a pearl in it. So he slit open a walnut and inserted a pearl. When the woman came along, he handed her the walnut and said that these were special walnuts which had pearls as well as the meat in them. She opened it, popped it in her mouth, thanked him, and walked away. The devil was amazed - where was the pearl? He thought he must have given her the wrong one, so he started opening all the walnuts. Some time later, he was still sitting there shelling walnuts, and the woman took the pearl out from under her tongue where she had hidden it, and no doubt went home with a big grin on her face!  Cheesy

Depart from me I never knew you!
I never knew you!
Never.

Man disavows, and Deity disowns me:
Hell might afford my miseries a shelter;
Therefore Hell keeps her ever-hungry mouths all
Bolted against me.

Look him square on and as Tammy Faye used to say,
"run to the roar", and tell the deceiver, "Satan get thee hence!"

I'm going to learn this song on the Mandolin one day Grin

The devil went down to Texas, he was lookin' for a soul to steal.
He was in a bind 'cuz he was way behind and he was willin' to make a deal.
When he came accross this young man pickin'' a mandolin and playin' it hot.
And the devil jumped up on a hickory stump and said, "Boy, let me tell you what.
I guess you didn't know it, but I'm a mando player, too.
And if you care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.
Now, you play a pretty good mandolin, boy, but give the devil his due.
I'll bet a 8-string of gold against your soul, 'cuz I think I'm better than you."
The boy said, "My name's Tibby and it might be a sin
but I'll take your bet; you're gonna regret, 'cause I'm the best that's ever been."
