"..knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep;
for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. Let us
walk decently, as in the day...putting on the Lord Jesus Christ..
...redeeming the time, because the days are evil."
Romans 13:11-14~ Ephesians 5:16
When Israel did what was "right in their own eyes" (vs6) they went into idolatry: Micah set up an idol, and hired a Levite to be his priest. (Judges 17)
When Israel did what was "right in their own eyes" (Judges 21:25) they had the incident where the Levite's woman was gang raped and murdered, and the near annihilation of a complete tribe. (Judges 19-21)
While Israel was doing what was "right in their own eyes", they continually strayed into idolatry, God would raise up adversaries to punish them, they would cry out to God, and He would then raise up Judges who led them to victory and then ruled over them.
So, when Israel rejected God's prophet (Samuel), they asked for a king. (1 Samuel 8 ) Samuel forewarned them all the troubles that would befall them with a king: the taxation, draft into all kinds of service. And the books of Samuel through Chronicles tell of Israel under its kings...a good deal of them, -WICKED-. As a result of their bad kings, they went into exile.
Oh, but... let's not blame the kings! It was "we the people" (of Israel) who wanted the kings, because they had rejected God.
That's where the USSA is today. And whereas we have had, more-or-less, a rule "by the people" through the democratic process, due to human nature that process has been shown to be greatly flawed. As we-the-people (collectively) have rejected God, the elected leaders have also risen to power who are God rejectors...just like the people who elected them.
Whereas this nation's "freedoms" have allowed True Believers to serve the Lord in the midst of a crooked and perverse world, now that it is becoming a dictatorship, those freedoms will begin to be taken away in the name of "national security" from "right wing extremists" who "cling to their guns and religion".
It has been assumed, throughout this "experiment", that Democracy is a 'good'
thing. But in truth, Dictatorship is a 'better' thing... with the right Dictator
on the throne. When people are left to their own devices, they go willy nilly
into evil. They lack self-control. They lack the 'order' that accompanies
self-control. As a business proprietor, I see all sorts of people. There are
many who are scatter-brained, some so much so that I wonder to myself how they can possibly be running their own business... for which reason they came to me for signage. But the ones who are more of a pleasure to deal with are those in the military and law enforcement. They are people under a hierarchy and
chain-of-command. They are self-possessed, and in control of themselves. They
know a direction, and pursue it. From the controlled ordering of their own
minds, they are able to collect their thoughts and string words together with intelligibility.
To "rule with a rod of iron"; is that not the language of a kingly dictator! ...the 'iron' indicating no negotiations or rebellion against the king's orders and edicts. To "dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel"; is that not the language of fierce and extreme conquest! But if there is to be rule in Righteousness, does not the filth of all the evil need to be swept away with the "broom of destruction" (Isaiah 14:23) Does not the chaff need to be winnowed away from the wheat!
Jesus... "whose winnowing shovel is in His hand, and He will thoroughly cleanse His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the granary; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire." (Matthew 3:12)
When wheat is harvested, the chaff and straw makes for a huge pile (or big swath in the field), compared to the relatively smaller pile of grain on the ground (or in the hopper). My dad used to tell of harvesting time back in N.Dakota during the 'dirty-thirties', when the pile of wheat would be -very- small, and the pile of chaff (from the threshing machine) would be like a huge 'mountain', by comparison. The times of famine.
"Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord Jehovah, that I will send a famine into the land, not a famine for bread, nor a thirst for water, but rather a famine for hearing the Words of Jehovah." (Amos 8:11)
Is that not what we have today! Famine for God's Word. So when the Lord sends out the angels to separate the wheat from the chaff (Matthew 3:12,13:39-42) how small is that pile of wheat?
"Because narrow is the gate and distressing is the way which leads unto life, and there are -few- who find it." (Matthew 7:14)
It will be the Eternal "Dictator" who will accomplish this. What the world needs is not Democracy, but Justice and Righteousness. Who best to adjudicate that?
"When the righteous multiply, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan." (Proverbs 29:2)
Are not "we the people" -groaning- right now? And the groans will be increasing into cries as the next few years progress. But soon, the King of kings and Lord of lords will come to rule on David's throne in Jerusalem.
"And the battle bow shall be cut off, and He shall speak peace to the nations. And His dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth." (Zechariah 9:10)
And then..."...the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Jehovah, as the waters cover the sea." (Habakkuk 2:14)
"And many nations shall come and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, and to the house of the God of Jacob. And He will teach us His ways, and we will walk in His paths. For the Law shall go forth out of Zion, and the Word of Jehovah from Jerusalem." (Micah 4:2)
Amen!
