Muslim jihadist calls for Facebook 'invasion'
Aims to take advantage of 'podium to reach millions of people'

An Islamic jihadist is calling on supporters to "invade" the popular social networking website "Facebook" after claiming victory in a similar attack on YouTube.

A member of the jihadist online forum al-Faloja, using the name Omar Abdul Hakim, made the appeal Tuesday, the U.S.-based monitoring group SITE Intelligence Group reported, according to Australia's Daily Telegraph.

Hakim described Facebook as "a podium to reach millions of people."

"We will use Facebook as a new and exclusive media tool to fight the media offensive on jihadist media, its forums, and its websites and in order to reveal the Crusaders," he wrote, according to SITE.

Hakim said the aims of the invasion include "reaching the vast base of Muslims who subscribe to Facebook" and "participating and interacting with them."

"Let us start to post publications, articles, Islamic and jihadist pictures," he wrote.

The Telegraph pointed out Facebook's terms of service prohibit "organizations or groups that promote or glorify hatred, violence, intolerance, racism or discrimination."

In the YouTube "invasion," according to Hakim, members of the jihadist forum loaded propaganda videos.
