Howdy! Welcome to the forum! You've brought up something that God has been working on in my life for awhile now that I thought might help if I shared it.
I currently teach a singles class at my church, and am involved in other areas as well. I serve in each capacity with joy and satisfaction...but I've been asking myself lately, am I ministering in my church? To many, the answer would be "YES!" I teach! I'm on committees deciding stuff! I usher if needed, sing specials, set up furniture, clean, host, smile and pray! I even lead a bible study! But is
that ministering?
I'm not tooting my horn here, believe me. I don't do much really compared to others. The point I'm making is that serving isn't always teaching, singing, playing the piano, or physically doing something.
Each of us is called to minister - to serve one another. The question is, how?
There are many ways to be sure! Here are a few that I've been considering of late...
Bearing one another's burdens. Remember, "two are better than one." When someone is in need, help them! However you can, whenever you can, serve that brother or sister in Christ. Make their load lighter.
Making prayer and supplication for all men. It's often said, and less than often done. Pray for them.
Be accountable, and take into account. When we face trials with sin, do we ever go to our brothers and sisters in Christ to help out? Rarely! We are to independent. But God gave us a body in which to
be dependent. Make yourself accountable to someone, and let them be accountable to you. Grow in the Lord
together - and help each other to do so.
These are just a few things that I've been considering, and working on in my life. I'm "plugged in." You're not. You've got the power you need...just find a
life in which to "plug in."
