This is a email I just received, about Pastor Yuri Ruiz......
~~~~~~~~
Faithful Prayer Supporters
I received this news/prayer request from a fellow missionary in Puebla, Mexico where we will soon be living and working. Please read this and then take a moment to pray. Thank You.
"This morning I received a call I don't want to recieve again. One of our friends and pastor of Gethsemane Baptist Church of Puebla, Mexico was murdered last night. Pastor Yuri Ruiz was a cardiovascular surgeon here in Puebla and also the pastor of the Gethsemane Baptist Church. Pastor Yuri was returning home about 11 PM last night when he got about 1 block from his house. His assailants werte waiting on him and shot him multiple times. According to my friend who is handling the funeral arrangements, it doesn't appear to be a case of robbery, but was specifically targeted. Yuri was a well known and respected throughout Puebla. He spent a significant amount of time visiting indigenous groups in Puebla offering free medical care and monthly training classes for indigenous pastors. I know that his loss will be felt throughout Puebla and particularly the indigenous works. Yuri was completely dedicated to missions and was a strong advocate for indigenous work. He led Gethsemane to give a very large percentage of their money to support missionaries and gave many hours of his busy schedule to supporting. This murder has many of the Christians in Puebla in shock. Yuri leaves behind 2 children and his wife.
Please remember his family, church, and overall mission work amo0ng the people of Puebla, Mexico in your prayers and thank you for your faithfulness to pray.
Together in His Service
~~~~~~~~

I know of several times Yuri would empty his own pockets in support of missions in and around Mexico.

Hello DreamWeaver,

Brother Bob, these families will be in my prayers. Puebla is the very place that my cousin and his family spent many years as missionaries. However, things have changed for the much worse in many parts of Mexico for Christians. I have another cousin still serving in Mexico, and things are getting rough and dangerous. In reality, things are getting rough and dangerous for missionaries around the world. I'm convinced that we are looking at a time of increasing persecution, beating, imprisonment, and death for Christian missionaries - regardless of how much good they are doing for the people they serve.

Love In Christ,
Tom
