"First of all, Holiness is not necessarily a state in which there is perpetual, rapturous joy. Isaiah 53:3 tells us that Jesus was a man of sorrow and acquainted with grief’…."
2.  Holiness is not a state of freedom from temptation.
Paul tells us that Jesus was tempted in all points as we are,…"
3.Holiness is not a state of freedom from infirmities. It (holiness) does not produce a perfect head but a perfect heart.
4.Holiness is not a state of freedom from affliction. The saints of all ages have been chosen ‘in the furnace of affliction’ (Isaiah 35:10). Job and Jeremiah and Daniel and Paul and the mighty army of martyrs have, and shall always come up through great tribulations.
5.  Holiness is not a state in which there is no further development. When the heart is purified it develops more rapidly than ever before. Spiritual development comes through the revelation of Jesus Christ in the heart, and the holy soul is in a condition to receive such revelations constantly, and since the finite can never exhaust the infinite, these revelations will continue for ever and prove an increasing and never-ending source of development.
6.  ….Holiness is a state of conformity to the divine nature. God is love, and there is a sense in which a holy man can be said to be love. He is like God, not in God’s natural perfection of power and wisdom and knowledge and omnipresence, in patience, humility, self-control, purity of heart and love. As the drop out of the ocean is like the ocean, not in its bigness, but in its essence, so is the holy soul like God…."

Amisk your commentary caught my eye when reviewing this thread. I would like to know what denomination you are a part of and what reason you have for the hope that is within you. (How did you come to know Christ?) I did notice a lot of the post were contrary to what you stated and many seem not to want to debate which is understood. But righteous reasoning should pose no threat as the bible is of no private interpretation and the word must be rightfully divided for accurate interpretation.

Hello Rc1000,

I see this is your first post, so WELCOME!

We don't do denominations here, and the above is a quote from someone else. However, it does appear to be a simple statement of facts. We are not perfect or Holy when we are saved, but our LORD and SAVIOUR is. Everything good we have and any righteousness we have in this short life is in CHRIST - not us. CHRIST will not perfect us in this short life, and we are still in this body of corruption until GOD gives us a Glorified Body at HIS Appointed time. This issue wouldn't be a matter of denomination anyway, rather one of Biblical fact. I hope you enjoy the forum.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable GIFT, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour Forever!
