Hello Special1,
WELCOME!
I sincerely hope that you enjoy the forum.
I saw this question last night, but I had to get some rest first. I've heard many dates over my lifetime that were supposed to be either the end of the world, the end of this age, and any number of other things. Many of them involved self-proclaimed prophets, and the dates slipped by without anything happening.
The same has been true for many generations, and there are long lists of documented dates. I don't think that I can remember all of the ones I've heard about just in the last ten years. Prophets had a field day with the year 2,000, and a fairly large list of them got to eat crow - feathers and all. Many people founded churches with false prophecy, and many of those churches are still in existence today, even though everything was based on lies. The Bible tells us that there will be many of these folks, and there has been.
GOD tells us that no man knows the day or the hour, but many men keep trying to do what GOD says can't be done. However, there are many details in the Holy Bible that will all be perfectly fulfilled at GOD'S appointed time. The study of Bible Prophecy is fascinating, and it really leads all over the Bible with some beautiful portions of Scriptures. I say "beautiful", and many of them are. Other portions of Scripture dealing with Bible prophecy are the ugly truth about what will most definitely happen in the end days of this age. Most Christians who really study Bible Prophecy know that date and time setting is the sole Province of GOD.
GOD can change the course of planets, defy what many men call science, and do exactly what it says HE can do in the HOLY BIBLE - "Whatever HE will in Heaven or on earth." After all, it was HIS Mighty Hands who hung them in place. HE is the CREATOR and ARTIST of the universe. As an analogy, HE painted things the way that HE wanted them, and HE can change HIS Works of Art anytime HE wants to.Many Christians do believe that we might be nearing the end days of this Age of Grace. Many events throughout the world seem to resemble many of the signs of Bible Prophecy in the Bible.
With 100% certainty, I can say that GOD will fulfill all things in HIS own time. Men won't be able to slow or hasten GOD'S perfect time by even a second, and HE knew that precise second before the foundation of the world. Men set dates for the year 2007, and those times have come and gone.
As Christians, our part is to pray for guidance and do GOD'S Will until HE comes to take us home. I'm positive that HE has work for all of us to do if we will just yield and ask HIM to work in and through us. Hosts of people are still accepting CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOUR, so much work is left to be done. I think that the best thing that Christians can do is pray that GOD gives us strength and guidance to do HIS Will until the last moment.Love In Christ,
Tom
Philippians 1:21-22 NASB For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose.
Philippians 1:27-28 NASB Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; in no way alarmed by your opponents--which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God.
1 John 3:1-2 See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.
1 John 5:4-5 NASB For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
Colossians 3:15-16 NASB Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Proverbs 3:5-10 NASB Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body And refreshment to your bones. Honor the LORD from your wealth And from the first of all your produce; So your barns will be filled with plenty And your vats will overflow with new wine.
