Annan: Israel’s democracy can thrive only if the occupation ends

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said during a speech at the Security Council on the situation in the Middle East that " Israel is justifiably proud of its democracy and its efforts to build a society based on respect for the rule of law."
However, he added, "Israel’s democracy can thrive only if the occupation over another people ends."
