Online announcement asks protesters to 'storm' executive mansion March 15

A leading anti-Iraq war group is advertising a plan to storm the White House next month and "take it over" until the Bush administration vacates the premises.

United for Peace and Justice, which claims to represent 1,300 local and national anti-war organizations, has a page on its site advertising the March 15 action.

"We are taking over the White House until they leave," the announcement says.

The press release is entitled "Take the White House by Storm" – though elsewhere on the site a statement calls the storming "a peaceful event."

"It is our duty and the duty of the United Nations to rescue the people of the world from the U.S. dictators," states the release. "Murder for occupation and theft of land is illegal. Murder of journalists is criminal. Remove the traitors who have stolen the U.S. budget and used it to commit international crimes against humanity.

"If we were being bombed and our journalists were being murdered here in the U.S. by a foreign country's military, we would hope that the people of that country would stop what they are doing and go to their president's office and demand that it was stopped. If we were the ones burying thousands and thousands of our family members and watching the destruction of the homes, schools, churches and offices that we had worked for decades to build, we would hope that someone, somewhere would care enough to do something for us. We must stop the criminals in our government NOW."

The national coordinator for United for Peace told WND it allows many of the hundreds of affiliated organization to post information about events on its website, though the umbrella group does not endorse every activity.

A line on the statement says: "Events listed are not necessarily endorsed or organized by UFPJ."

Said the organization's Leslie Cagan: "We ask member groups that are planning activities, especially around the third anniversary of the war, to list them on our website. But we don't necessarily screen everything posted. … This is not our activity."

Cagan admitted the language in the announcement is "a little inflammatory" and told WND she would look into the group that posted the release as well as the event. Darrow Boggiano, from an organization called Political Cooperative, is the name listed as a contact for the event.

The group was formed in January to "combine social justice organizations and political parties for a radical change in government."

The protesters plan to appeal to the United Nations and all member nations to help oust the Bush administration.

"Bring signs that say 'U.N. SOS' and 'Leave Now,' or whatever you would like to say," states the announcement.

"The administration is criminal, and if they will not step down, we must storm in [and] show them how many of us do not accept a criminal government."
