I think I may have mentioned this earlier -- I can't be bothered to check through 29 pages -- but it should be called "Post-Boosting Thread," NOT "Thread-Boosting Post."

Just needed to get that out of my system.

Ok.

Hello Sapphire,

Grin  Grin  It is rather deep reading. Technically, it is one additional thread, so it did boost our thread count by one.  Cheesy  OR, in law enforcement terms, maybe he was waiting for someone to steal the thread.

Hello Sapphire,

How are you and where have you been?

I see that you have a new signature graphic. I'm an old guy, so I don't understand what it means. Let me guess - is it the name of a band?

Regarding being an old guy, I just forgot what this thread was about and what I was about to type.  Grin  Grin

I've been lurking recently. Not a lot has really intrigued me. It's been slow here for the last few months.

My graphic contains a quote from a song. It doesn't really mean anything, I just like it. Actually, it's from a song by a Christian group called Sunny Day Real Estate.

But whatever.

I just got back from a mission trip to Taiwan with my youth group. It was a blast.  Wink

Hello Sapphire,

I thought your graphic had something to do with music. It sounds like you have been busy. I think that a mission trip to Taiwan would be fascinating. I understand there are many there with a real hunger for God's Word. I know there is much more freedom there than in China, but I would imagine you would still come back with a greater appreciation of our long-term freedoms to worship and study the Bible.

If you get a chance, please do tell us about your trip.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Basically, what we did was focus on this place called Hsimen Ding; it's the youth epicenter in Taiwan. It's pretty much six square blocks of stores, all employed by kids between 15 and 23. We were just told to make friends with these kids and share Christ with them. It was so easy; they were all so willing to hear what we had to say, and in all I think about 15-20 people accepted Christ in the two weeks we were there.

The thing that sucks is that there are no churches there; at least, none that the kids would feel welcome in. We visited the only two C&MA (Christian and Missionary Alliance, the denomination I am a part of) churches close enough to be reasonable to visit once a week, and both of them were super-conservative, with a hellfire-and-damnation kind of approach. What's worse is that none of the churches in Taiwan (there are only 23 C&MA in the entire country; I don't know if there are any others) feel compelled to reach out to Hsimen Ding; in fact, most af them are afraid to. The place has a bad rep. Not a very popular or respected place in Taiwan.

So the kids we witnessed to need prayer, badly. We were the last group to visit this year, so many of them are going to have a tough time keeping up with their faith. Right now we're doing a Paul-type ministry, keeping in touch through e-mail and such.

All in all, though, it was the most amazing and profound experience of my life.

Hmm...I might just put this in the "Prayer Requests" forum. They need it.
