16  Theology / Debate / Re:the Passion on: March 16, 2004, 10:25:24 AM
Mary,

You rightly discern the evil that is in the movie, The Passion. There are many more people who are awakening to this delusion. Here is an exelllent article on the matter:

www.LetGodbeTrue.com

As I began writing this, this verse came to my mind: "For what is highly esteemed among men, is an abomination in the sight of God." Luke 16:15b

Jesus said that His way is a very narrow way, and there are very few who will find life.

Many will claim the success of this movie is some sort of blessing from God.

These are the questions that still loom in my mind....

1) How can God bless a work that is impure? A movie that is filled with idolatry, extra biblical mysticism from a Catholic nun. This falls into the category of witchcraft.

2) Many are saying "God can use a donkey" to fullfill His purposes. This statement could be true. But would he use "Porn stars" to create a movie about His Son? (these are current porn stars....not "ex" porn stars)

3) Does this movie violate the 2nd commandment?

4) Will Mel Gibson use the proceeds of this movie to make more bloody, ungodly movies? ( most of his films have been filled with violence and gore)

5) Has Satan used "The Passion" as a recruitment tool for the Catholic Church? ( apparently some of the crew were "converted" during the making of the movie)

6) Mel Gisbon courted  Evangelical Pastors in this nation to promote this film. He actually got their blessing. ( Are they all blind? Do they not read the Word of God? Or they willing to accept "artistic license" to "promote the gospel")

7) Has our gospel become so weak and ineffective that we must provide "visual effects" to touch man's wicked heart?

8) Will the graphic nature of the movie "desensitize" people to the real gospel of Jesus Christ?

I read recently that teenagers that are into horror movies are flocking to The Passion. Will they be touched?

My greatest concern is that the blind (the pastors) are leading the blind. Will they both fall into a ditch? There are a few voices in the wilderness that are speaking out against the deception in this movie. And those who do speak out are considered "anti-Christs"

Can the very elect be so deceived?

Creationist,

Thanks for posting Anne Emmerich's work, or shall I say demonic visions. Was she a real "saint" or a witch?

Reba,

It took me a second and then I realized that "GB" was the Geneva Bible. The spelling is a little archaic, but the translation is accurate.

I know the Reformers used the Geneva Bible and were very anti-Catholic. Many mentioned the Pope as the anti-Christ

Interesting?

I read a letter to the editor on WND that basically said the sky was the limit to who or what you could "marry". What  if you wanted to marry your pet goat, or a cabbage?

The sodomites want special privileges for their abominable lifestyles. Will pedophiles be standing in line next? What if they want to marry their 8 year old neighbor boy?

America needs to wake up and get serious about this situation! There is nothing funny about this perversion. We can expect God to give a response if "gay" marriage becomes the law of the land.

Nice to see the die hard A.V. fanatics admit that it's not a perfect translation after all.

Ebia,

It is the King James 1611 that has the word "Easter" in it. That's one of the reasons I use a New King James that uses the word "passover".

I wouldn't even consider using a NASAB, NIV, or some of the more "modern" watered down translations.

Crusader,

Thank you for bringing this topic up to the readers.

No, "Easter" the goddess, should not be mentioned in the Bible.

Christ our passover lamb will not share his glory with a goddess.

Zell Miller is an abherration in the Democratic Party. He is also not running again. I believe he has had a belly full of Washington.

Zell was once pro-abortion, but changed his stance a number of years ago. Apparently, God got a hold of him.

His speech was excellent!

Pilgrim.

Thank you for posting the quotes, on what Catholic really believe. Let those who have ears to hear let him hear.

Those who have an interest may want to read this article in Christianity Today. Please read the first paragraph very closely. ( And Christianity Today actually promoted the movie)

Foreknown,

Thank you for the links. I had read the article on Let God be True several nights ago. If someone can read this and disregard the warning; shame on them.

I'm beginning to wonder was the Reformation all in vain? Have Protestants totally lost all sense of history?

The Reformers called the Pope the anti-Christ. Why are Protestants now embracing Catholic theology?

As Mel Gibson said in his own words, he was suprized at all the evangelicals interest in the movie, since it was so "Marian".

Maybe this is just part of the great falling away?

Nikolai,

You missed Crusader's point. He is saying the government has no business in the affairs of the Church. They should not be intermingled.

Christ is the head of the Church; not the IRS. And to place the IRS ahead of Christ is idolatry (state worship).

Surely you wouldn't want your sermons wrote by the governement, as they do in China with the "state sanctioned churches"

Psalm 119

The American Church for the most part has become the First Church of Babylon. There are a few exceptions though.

Many churches have sold out when they accepted the 501(c)3 status and became a corporation with a board rather than a "Church' with a board of elders to govern. Many churches have replaced God's Word with psychology, or mixed psychology with the Word. Many churches have become so "seeker friendly", that they are preoccupied with nickles, numbers, and noses. Many churches will not even mention a word about hell, and/or sin. They don't want to damage a person's "self-esteem".Most in churches today walk, and talk like the world. There's not a dime's worth of difference between the two. The sad part is when they say,"We are just saved sinners".( so do "saved sinners" go to heaven while "unsaved sinners' go to hell?)

The falling away has been occurring right before our eyes!

The good news is that Jesus has a remnant who will not be joined with a harlot. There are thousands across the land who have come out of her and will not indulge in her idolatries.

The broad way leads to destruction, but the narrow way to life eternal.

Yes, there are 7,000 who have not knelt down to Baal.

Tibby,

When a Catholic eats the wafer, (Eucharist) he is crucifying Jesus over and over again. They believe they are eating the actual body of Christ.

Tqpix,

You do seem very open to the gospel message of Jesus Christ, and I would like to talk to you further. Please use the Private messaging to write to me. I don't want to argue, but rather exhort you with Scripture.I do not subscribe to any particular denomination, but rather the whole counsel of God, through His Word.

tqpix,

With all due respect, if you do not believe in such things ,why are you still a Catholic? What binds you to the Catholic Church?

As you may know Mel Gibson is pre-Vatican II. He is a staunch Mary worshipper ( along with James Caviziel). You and him would not see eye to eye theologically. I do realize Mel is in the minority among other practicing Catholics.

My desire is not to offend you, but to ask some honest questions.

Psalm 119

Tibby,

I have a number of Christian friends who have come out of the Catholic Church and they are the ones that are the most discerning about the movie The Passion. They are the ones who pick up on the Catholicism in the movie. Such as Mary dressing like a nun, and being referrred to as "Mother" by the disciples. Protestants who were once Catholics, and have repented of their idolatry ( Mary worship) are some of the harshest critics of the movie.

Mel Gibson and James Caviezel (Jesus) participated in The Mass every day together while making the movie. On the days that James didn't attend Mass he had the Eucharist brought to him on the set. Let me ask you, "does the notion of crucifying Jesus over and over again ( as in the Mass) offend you? It does me. And it should offend every believer in Jesus Christ. For Christ DIED ONCE FOR SINS.

Here is a link that may enlighten you more on the subject. These are a group of pastors who will not see, or have seen and will not recommend the movie. There is a lot of background information to the "why". Please take the time to read these articles, and mostly search the Scriptures for the truth. Jesus will not share His glory with anyone else.
