62  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:A prayer request... on: September 08, 2005, 09:13:59 PM
Please know that your requests are being brought to the Lord.  You are not alone.  I'm glad you feel comfortable sharing such personal requests.  Jesus will hear your prayers. Wink

wow, Willowbirch, I can honestly say I've never had a peanut butter and pickle sandwich.  Now with bananas sure. Sounds "interesting".   Huh

I also like Gg MacDonald's books.  Those are cool vss. from Zechariah.

TX Grandma:  Oh, how much simpler/better our lives would be if we could focus on God and not ppl. so much. Wink
So the old cliche' is true...No such thing as a stupid question?
64  Fellowship / Just For Women / Re:Just for Women...Let's lighten things up... on: September 01, 2005, 07:01:31 PM
Ah, good point!  Both have their purpose.  We just need to pray for wisdom on when to focus on one or the other.

What about other ladies to respond to questions? Wink

66  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Typhoon Talim on: August 31, 2005, 10:51:50 PM
Taiwan is being hit by a typhoon.  My house has some leaks in walls and ceilings, but that is minimal compared to New Orleans and to my neighbors who have flooded businesses and homes.  It will rain here for several days.

Prayers needed for safety of the people here.  May they see the awesome power of our God and their need for Him.

In His service...
67  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:Survivors of Katrina on: August 31, 2005, 08:05:58 AM
Father God, comfort those who need comforted.  May the Christians there be bold in their witness as they minister to others' needs.  Protect that area.  We claim it for you, Jesus.  Show your love and compassion through your people.

May those in need realize that they need a Savior.

In the name of Jesus, Amen

Anybody else have someone that you meet weekly with to report how you are doing on certain aspects of your Christian life?  I have been meeting for the last few weeks with a "veteran" missionary who is teaching me a few things about witnessing and then encouraging me to talk to at least two people before our next meeting.  I'm finding that just knowing I'll need to explain to her what I've done is motivating me to get "out there."

Just wondering,   Butterflies

This is wonderful news, ML!    Isn't it cool how God's timing works?  Only 3 more classes too!   The masters will help you progress in your field so much faster.

Our God is awesome!

72  Theology / General Theology / Question about Absalom on: August 30, 2005, 09:47:45 AM
I was reading II Samuel this week and wondered about the following:

Chapter 14
27 Three sons and a daughter were born to Absalom.

Chapter 18
18 During his lifetime Absalom had taken a pillar and erected it in the King's Valley as a monument to himself, for he thought, "I have no son to carry on the memory of my name." He named the pillar after himself, and it is called Absalom's Monument to this day.

So did Absalom's sons die?  Anyone else wonder about this too?

Dream Weaver:  I like your midi's.  I am curious why you chose the background for the home page that looks like Jewish candles?

I am an English teacher....so I can't help mentioning that there should be another "i" in Christianity.   i t y   Sorry....

Interesting info....

He may not talk to you much  because he feels convicted of what he did wrong.  I hope you are seeking Christian friends and leaders who can support you through this difficult time.

You are not alone.  Jesus loves you very much.
75  Welcome / About You! / Re:Just joined today on: August 24, 2005, 09:08:31 PM
No, we are in an area that will let us openly share our faith.  Currently, we are not in danger of persecution such as that.   I can't imagine being called to such an area.

Most people are either Buddist or Taoist.

Voice of the M. is  a great publication.  A few years ago, I was in a Sunday School class in the states, where the teacher said, "Well, of course, people aren't persecuted nowadays for their faith."  I spoke right up and said, "Oh yes, they are."  I directed him to that publication.

Appreciate the prayers.
