Thanks, ForHisGlory! Dreamweaver made me a cool "butterfly" one, but this is my Yahoo chat avatar and seemed appropriate for Chinese New Year. Maybe you can make an "African" one.

ForHisGlory: We'd love to hear more about what you are doing in Africa. Could you start a new thread in this forum so we ladies can share with you? What is the culture (food, customs) like there? What are Christians doing in that country to reach unbelievers?
Curious and interested, Butterflies

Angie: All your conversation starters sound like great ways to get people sharing so you can then share. It sounds like you have a heart for missions. Have you considered working full-time somewhere, when you are older? I live in SE Asia, so I know what you mean about buddists and ancestor worship. It's such a foreign concept that someone would worship dead relatives instead of THE God, isn't it? Please continue to send updates here and join in the other forum topics.

That cat is really pitiful. He's really having a hard day! I really like cats and miss the ones I had in the US.
It's fun to try new avatars, isn't it?
Welcome back to the Forum, TalkerCat. You were missed.

Hi, Today is New Year's Eve here in Asia. Families gather for meals and to share red envelopes with money inside with family members (grown relatives give to children, etc.). Let's pray that if families do have a Christian among them, that they will be bold in sharing their faith with their families during this holiday season. Most businesses are closed this week. Schools are out for three weeks.
Also, households hang red banners outside on each window and door to "keep spirits out". Sometimes they put red banners on doorways that seem just like the blood of Passover. May they see that only Jesus can "keep the spirits out" and that He can take away their fear.
Shing Nee-in Kwai-le!!! Happy New Year!

This really is a good reminder to "not major in the minors". Sometimes we need to look at the big picture of how good our husbands are and not stress the little annoyances...because we "probably" have some of our own, ha! Our attitudes about day to day things really show the kind of people we really are.

Thank you for responding, everyone. Talkercat, I appreciate your encouragement. We'll have to see if we will be here next year and if so, I think we'll seriously consider this option. (We may have to find a new "visa" holder for our jobs here or we'll have to move back to US.)
ChristianCowgirl, that's great that you and your dh are in sinc about what children. Sometimes couples have varying views.
Talkercat, you are just a bit older than I am; it's not too late for you to be foster parents leading to adoption or to adopt.
Praying...

I'm surprised no one has responded to this. I'm not trying to start a debate; I'm just curious about your thoughts about having children. Are you glad you had children?

Welcome to the Forums, Diane! Yes, you are right that "room" has a double meaning here. When it's cold like that, it's usually my feet that get cold and not my hands. You two are probably quite a sight when you go to bed, ha. Do you have an electric blanket or more blankets? 60 is pretty chilly for a house. I admire you trying to be frugal. Maybe you will have some warm days here and there to warm up.
As for this "room", there have been a few more posts and a few new members, so I hope TalkerCat will be happy when she is able to return to us.
Diane, thanks for jumping right in and posting. That's how we learn about you and support one another. Take care.

yes, I went to church all my life and believed in Jesus and the Bible, BUT I hadn't asked Jesus into my heart, asked for forgiveness, and accepted His gift on the cross. It's not enough to go to church and believe. I didn't really become a Christian until I was in college.
