Fellowship / Just For Women / Such As God Had Made Her

Now she was such as God had made her, ere The world had tried to spoil her; tried, I say, And half-succeeded, failing utterly. Fair was she, frank, and innocent as a child That stares you in the eyes; fearless of ill, Because she knew it not; and brave withal, Because she drank the draught that maketh strong, The charmed country air.

cannot deny Himself........this would make a good study on God's attribbutes, His character, and God's Names and meaning. It would be a lengthy study, but a very worthwhile one, it would help us tremendously to know God's Awesomness and His completeness.
Well, I think one point of this "good Name study" - regarding your previous post - is that He is the Word. John chapter one starts out with, "The Word was with God; and the Word was God". "And the Word was made flesh". The Unspoken, Speaking Word is Jesus. But He is not "The Word of Jesus"; He is the "Word of God", His father. He spoke only what was in His father's heart to speak.

Ok, I'm going to be totally random here. I just got rid of my hiccups and this is a method that I found on the internet. Ingredients = 8 oz. glassWater Instructions = Fill 8 oz. glass with water. Take 10 consecutive swallows of the water (don't stop in between sips). Let All of your air then suck it back in and hold breath for 10 seconds.Make sure you actually hold your breath for the whole 10 seconds. Let air out. This works for me - you may have to repeat once but usually works first time. I was all excited that they are gone so I thought that I would share. Some of you might think that I am strange and crazy but others might all ready know that side of my personality. But anyways I thought that it was cool that it worked. Great! Now try it with coffee.

I also found this editorial comment, by Zodhiates, with a slightly different view:
"The word for 'faithless' in Greek is apisteo, which here means 'to fail to exercise proper faith, confidence, dependence, or trustworthiness'. When we do not exercise the proper faith in the Lord, He still remains faithful; He is trustworthy. His trustworthiness does not depends on our trustworthiness. There is a certain faithfulness which God demonstrates toward His children which is not conditional. If we are sinning, missing His mark for our lives, He still demonstrates fainthfulness to us in keeping us in His fold. He cannot cut out a part of His body, and that is what we actually are as believers. But He allows us to suffer in proportion to our unfaithfulness to Him."

Prayer / Answered Prayer / About prayer

'When some pray, they lift heavy thoughts from the ground, only to drop them on it again; others send up their prayers in living shapes, this or that, the nearest likeness to each. All live things were thoughts to begin with, and are fit therefore to be used by those that think. When one says to the great Thinker: - "Here is one of thy thoughts: I am thinking it now!" that is a prayer - a word to the big heart from one of its own little hearts.'

Is there anyone here with any special insight into 2Tim. 2:13? It found me four times in one day, and I would like to know why.

The dog has bigger teeth and more stamina, leading to bigger property damage. Always an asset. Also, a dog is the perfect ensign to scout out enemy territory. Sincereheart trusts dogs.
(I learned "ensign" from Star Trek. I also learned about interplanetary customs and cuisines.)

Prayer / General Discussion / Re: Prayer -- How to Develop a Lonely Place Apart?
|
on: July 24, 2006, 12:26:22 PM

I've read in several books lately about the need for a "prayer closet" or a special room or just a space set apart. Have some of you done this? Where is it? How do you use it?
In my bedroom, there is a little corner walled in partially by my desk and bed. I have a high-up bed (with space underneath for bookshelves and a small dresser), and when I am in this corner at the end of the bed, nobody can see me from the doorway. Its nice, having a "sneaky" place; very useful for kids playing hide-and-seek, and also for adults hiding in the Lord. I have a Kleenex box here (or leftover napkins), and sometimes I keep a Bible or a helpful book here. God isn't restricted to my little corner, of course, but this is where I come when I want to hide while I pray.
