Theology / Apologetics / Re:FAQ For Non-Christians

I was just reflecting on some questions:
Why should I believe the Bible over other books?
Why do you think that Jesus Christ is real? Iesus is, as the messiah, i see no proof. If there is a loving God, why would he condemn people to hell? And why do you assume that the Christian hell exist ? If there is a God, why did he create evil and allow such suffering, pain, and grief for His creation? (Isa 45:7 Webster) I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.Evil is merely the opposite of peace, as kight is the opposite of darkness. If there is a real God, why doesn't He simply make all people saved and good? Then how would you have free will ? And without free will there would be no reward of heaven. If God is real, wouldn't that make Him the author of all wars, disasters, mass starvation, and all of the other suffering of mankind? Why ? Someone told me that God either hates us or loves us before we are ever born, so why should we try to learn about a God who has already made up His mind about us?
And was this person perfect in all things ? If God is real, why doesn't he make all the preachers get their stories right and say the same thing? Are any of them correct ?

Why should I believe the Bible over other books? General info on the BibleThe Bible consists of 66 books: 39 in the OT and 27 in the new. The Bible took about 1600 years to write. It was written in three languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek) by about 40 authors and is internally consistent throughout. But this is just not the case, as the NT is constantly contradicting the bible of Iesus, and itself. Reliability of the Bible A. The Bible is 98˝ percent textually pure. Through all the copying of the Biblical manuscripts of the entire Bible, only 1˝% has any question about it. Nothing in all of the ancient writings of the entire world approaches the accuracy of the biblical documents. Ah, but if you remove the NT and only deal with the bible of Iesus, then it rises to 100% reliability. As all of the contradictions and problems originate in the NT. B. The 1˝ percent that is in question does not affect doctrine. The areas of interest are called variants and they consist mainly in variations of wording and spelling. Also, not true, as the diety of Iresus is at the heart of most of the mistranslation in the Christian messianic prophecies. ...Prophecies of the Bible Odds of Jesus filling the prophecies: i The odds of Jesus fulfilling 48 of the 61 major prophecies concerning Him are 1 in 10157; that is a one with 157 zeros behind it. By comparison, the estimated number of electrons in the entire known universe is about 1079; that is a one with 79 zeros behind it. Ah, but since the only messianic prophecies that were fulfilled by Iesus were ones that cannot be proven, and must be accepted on faith alone. Virgin Birth Prophecy i Isaiah 7:14, "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel." Note: the Jews who translated the Septuagint (Greek Translation of the Hebrew Old Testament) translated Isaiah 7:14 as the word virgin, not young maiden. No one knows who translated the LXX of today. 2nd, the word in the LXX that we read as virgin in most English versions does not mean "virgin" in either the Hebrew or the Greek:(Isa 7:14BBE) For this cause the Lord himself will give you a sign; a young woman is now with child, and she will give birth to a son, and she will give him the name Immanuel. (Isa 7:14 GNB) Well then, the Lord himself will give you a sign: a young woman who is pregnant will have a son and will name him 'Immanuel.' (Isa 7:14 MSG) So the Master is going to give you a sign anyway. Watch for this: A girl will get pregnant. She'll bear a son and name him Immanuel (God-With-Us). (Isa 7:14 JPS) Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: behold, the young woman shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Here are 4 translations that do not state the word "virgin"
H5959 עלמה ‛almâh al-maw' Feminine of H5958; a lass (as veiled or private): - damsel, maid, virgin. G3933 παρθένος parthenos par-then'-os Of unknown origin; a maiden; by implication an unmarried daughter: - virgin.
As any scholar knows the Strong's was written with the specific intent of supporting the KJV translation. As such Strong's gives his translation of each word 1st. And if the KJV used a different word to translate it wold always appear after the "-". But this did not mean that it was the correct translation of the word in question. Born in Bethlehem i Micah 5:2 "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times." ii Matt. 2:1, "After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem But was Iesus born in Beth-Lechem ? (Luk 2:4 WEB) Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David... And the distotions of Luke aside, Where is the city of David biblically ? (2Sa 5:7 WEB) Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David. Preceded by a messenger i Isaiah 40:3, "A voice of one calling: 'In the desert prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.'" ii Matt. 3:1-2, "In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the Desert of Judea and saying, 'Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.'" Ah, but whom is this prophet to be ? The whole reason that Christianity rearranged the Jewish bible was to put this verse right before the book of Matthew. (Mal 4:5 Webster) Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:
But did Eliyahu come fefore Iesus ? Only if he was John the Baptist. So, what did John say about being Ehiyahu the prophet ? (Joh 1:25 Webster) And they asked him, and said to him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou art not that Christ, nor Elijah, neither that prophet? (Joh 1:21 Webster) And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? and he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. So, this is another prophecy not fulfilled. Side Pierced i Zech. 12:10, "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one mourns for an only son." ii John 19:34, "Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water." An unfulfilled prophecy. Try reading it in context, these events have never happened. Crucifixion i Psalm 22:16-18, "a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet. I can count all my bones; people stare and gloat over me. They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing." A mistranslation. (Psa 22:16 JPS) (22:17) For dogs have encompassed me; a company of evil-doers have inclosed me; like a lion, they are at my hands and my feet. (Psa 22:17 JPS) (22:18) I may count all my bones; they look and gloat over me. (Psa 22:18 JPS) (22:19) They part my garments among them, and for my vesture do they cast lots. I see no crucifixion in these verses.

IS YOUR BIBLE THE RIGHT ONE? (Part 1)
"For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God..." (II Corinthians 2:17)
For over 350 years the Authorized Version, commonly known as the King James Bible, was used by the Body of Christ at large and confidently believed to be the Word of God. In the last 3 or 4 decades all this has changed.
Sorry, but i have to laugh at your post. This is because i know the history of the bible in English. Because before the "holy" bible was published at the command of king James, the heritic, there were other bibles read by ever English reader of the bible. In fact, you may not realise this but neither the Pilgrims nor puritians would be caught dead with a KJV. Why you might ask. It is because the KJV has an unholy purpose. King James was reading the reading the Geneva bible when he came accross the commentators words that stated that the rights of earthly kings were not divine, but had to answer to G-d. When king James read these words he commanded that there should be a new translation, with no commentary, except what was necessary for the understanding of the text.
And before this all bibles had commentaries in their margins.

Theology / Apologetics / Re:How many "Sons" does God have?
|

ok, first off. Christ was called the Son of Man, because the Messiah was to be called the Son of Man As were many others, (Eze 2:1) And he said to me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak to thee. (Jer 49:18) As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring cities, saith the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it. As such the phrase "son of man was not exclusively used to refer to the messiah. according to Jewish Tradition. The Messiah was to be a great military human leader, lead by God, according to the Jews. Which is only partially true. In biblical reality, there are two different forms that the messiah could assume, and only one was to be a comming as a war lord.(Zec 9:9) Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh to thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. It all depended upon wheter or not the Jews were worthy. However, what they failed to see, was that the Messiah would save the Jews, but that the Messiah would BE GOD. Hence John the Apostle hit it right on the head when he wrote "In the Beginning was the Word, and the WOrd was with God, and the Word was God" While this is only one of several possible translations of the Greek, it is not the only possible translation of this passage. G2316 θεός theos theh'-os Of uncertain affinity; a deity, especially (with G3588) the supreme Divinity; figuratively a magistrate; by Hebraism very: - X exceeding, God, god [-ly, -ward].
Theos was the direct translation of elohim, and as such did not always refer to G-d, but to false gods and judges. take for example, (Joh 10:34) Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are judges?

Consider the Sabbath
A Jewish believing friend alerted me to a very important issue about a year ago, which is the way we honor the Sabbath. As she said, it is one of the Ten Commandments - and they are called the Ten Commandments, not the Ten Suggestions. Actually, in the Hebrew they are called the "Ten Sayings." Now our culture is predicated on a 24/7 business schedule, which allows no one a legal day of rest. People born before around 1965 will probably remember that it used to be a law in most states throughout the U.S, that businesses were closed on Sunday. You couldn’t even buy gasoline or go to a restaurant in respect of the Sabbath. But Sunday has never been the Shabat.(Mat 28:1) In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn towards the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary to see the sepulcher. As we all know Iesus is said to have risen upon Sunday. The “labor” question is perhaps not about physical exertion - but rather to abstain from labor in the sense of commerce. This is because it is the day we revere the One from whom all our goods and money come and meditate on our faith in Him to sovereignly supply all our needs. A non-biblical deffinition. Or consider the conflict about engaging in commerce in Nehemiah:
Nehemiah 13:15 In those days I saw in Judah some who were treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sacks of grain and loading them on donkeys, as well as wine, grapes, figs and all kinds of loads, and they brought them into Jerusalem on the sabbath day. So I admonished them on the day they sold food. 16 Also men of Tyre were living there who imported fish and all kinds of merchandise, and sold them to the sons of Judah on the sabbath, even in Jerusalem. 17 Then I reprimanded the nobles of Judah and said to them, "What is this evil thing you are doing, by profaning the sabbath day? 18 " Did not your fathers do the same, so that our God brought on us and on this city all this trouble? Yet you are adding to the wrath on Israel by profaning the sabbath." 19 It came about that just as it grew dark at the gates of Jerusalem before the sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut and that they should not open them until after the sabbath. Then I stationed some of my servants at the gates so that no load would enter on the sabbath day. 20 Once or twice the traders and merchants of every kind of merchandise spent the night outside Jerusalem. 21 Then I warned them and said to them, "Why do you spend the night in front of the wall? If you do so again, I will use force against you." From that time on they did not come on the sabbath Which in no way limits violation of the Shabat to commerce. ... Consider the Sabbath in the U.S., where people bail out of church and head for Wal-Mart, buy gasoline to get to and from this and that, and some are forced to head for their jobs. And when did Sunday become the Shabat ? So, are we sick of the culture of commercialism? ... (Exo 35:3) Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the sabbath-day.And how is this commerce ? M thinks that your definition of work is non-biblical.

Hi,
I need some help. OK, I have a friend whose Muslim, right, and I tried talking to her about what I believe in, but she gave me a whole bunch of Bible quotes that say that Jesus wasn't God. I checked them and there real. for example:...She gave me about twenty verses like that, and I don't know how to rebuttle. Please help.
According to Thayer's Lexicon, the verdict on the diety of Iesus is still out. The reason being is that the NT is contradictory on the subject. In fact, any supposed references to the diety of Iesus were added after the fact by scribes.
